ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Behind his back but looked to be sticking out from his body. I wouldn't want a VAR to be overruling that. But I'd agree that this is probably a good case study for the VAR and they need to speed this one up.

Like the disallowed roar goal the previous week - absolutely no reason for that to take as long as it did, given how clearcut it was.

The other issue, of course, is consistency. We're seeing too many decisions that should be getting the attention of the VAR that isn't (like the penalty decisions in our games).

How do you figure that? VAR raised the question over it

When it takes 4 mins for a VAR ruling and they can't come to a definite conclusion, so the Penalty call stands.
If no conclusive proof of Handball, then it should be play on.

That's not how it works. If the VAR can't demonstrate an obvious error, then the original decision stands. And that's how it should work - because sometimes, the ref will have a better view of something than the cameras will.
I'd agree it shouldn't have taken so long and that's something for them to look at. In the end I actually think it was a pen. But even if I were to argue it wasn't, I don't think it would fall into the 'obvious error' category. Though I find it curious that we've only been presented with one camera angle.
Unlike some of the penalty decisions we've suffered already this season.

Fitzy just left his player completely unmarked for Syd to take a 1.0 lead at 60 min mark.

Typical mixed bag from Fitzy. Superb movement and energy, some good passing mixed in with costing them the game by not tracking his player and some shit house short passing. He is a headache.

I turned the tv off when Arnie came on and starting talking shit.

Pretty boring but city are certainly a lot tighter this year..

Big fail ruining Cahill

Sydney only had one or two chances and the goal was a little arsie how it bounced perfectly over defenders. Wilkshire missed two last week. Storm needs to have some shots like Wilkshire.

Also turned it off as soon as game was over.

Not a classic but this is the level our defence needs to get to

WTF its now 2, why the f**k did we get rid of him
Sometimes a player is simply better in one team than another. Not just the service he gets (because even last year, he got a lot of amazing service and just blew most of it) - maybe Newcastle have been able to coach him successfully on his mindset and his game to make him play better than he did with us. Maybe some credit is due to Newcastle's coaching staff here in developing him better than we could.

In short, it's quite possible he's playing a lot better with them than he would have with us.

Austin unlucky to be sent off, but Milligan should be off. Two horrible challenges and one that he jumped into with his studs up. Also Ned get stuffed, getting rid of back passes would ruin one of the best and most exciting playing styles in possession based play.

Zelic is a raving lunatic that is off his meds imo.

The bloke is incoherent and rambles on about whatever bee he has in his bonnet. Instead of defending Berisha, he should be condemning any player contact with officials. Instead of defending Austin, he should be condemning him for unsporting conduct. Instead of defending Milligan, he should be condemning him for dangerous play.

How does he get a job as a pundit, when he carries on like that?

Because Fox love to create stupid controversy even if there isn't a hint of one. They think ego is personality but it's anything but, and you can see it in how all their pundits, bar probably McBreen, Slater and Hill, bully each other. Fox's hiring is moronic and how Thompson and Zelic both have regular gigs when a bloke like Teo Pellizzeri never gets a gig is a blight on Football journalism in our country.

Austin unlucky to be sent off,

Austin's second yellow was the ONLY correct decision. He could not have been more blatant in delaying a re-start (a yellow card offence). Any other player would have been given a card in that situation, so why not a player that's has already been given a card?

Austin is a tool. He was giving the middle finger to the rules of football and got exactly what he deserved.

Zelic's comments show that he is an idiot - but we all knew that before. The one I'm disappointed in is Archie. I've always respected him, but I guess he bleeds for MV.

WSW transition slower than we do, definitely 2 points that got away from them. MV would be rubbish without Leroy George that bloke has saved their bacon for all three of their points. Still a very poor start for Muscat. It’s all been said here but Austin must be the stupidest player I’ve seen in a long while. Agree they should have been down to 9 but the Socceroos favouritism was there again. Couldn’t believe Archie didn’t think that was a Pen, imagine if it happened to him when he was playing. Needs to curb his favouritism.

Austin unlucky to be sent off,
No he wasn't. He stuck his leg out to block a kick - that's a mandatory card. I mean, given the state of refereeing this season I'm surprised it wasn't given (heck, Roy last weekend pulled his shirt over his head when he scored but didn't cop a card), but there was only one right decision there, no discretion or judgement at all.

If Ross McCormack is not the best dead ball specialist in the history of the HAL I will be surprised.

On a sad note the reffing/VAR has just imploded to a record low.

Fitzy having a Barry tonight.
