We were average, had wheelie bin ice baths and Michael Mifsud but we still represented Melbourne.

Loooove the passion JP, it's the one thing ANY club craves
..... as long as you're not throwing stones at the glass towers  they want to build.

Fcuk CFG !! they will be forever reliant on their petro dollar$, to 'buy the best they can' & still wont grow a genuine passionate supporter base, people will really only come for their 'star players'
- eg 1st Rnd game tonite = poor crowd

A South Melbourne would decimate their potential growth.

NB:
We too started off with wheelie-bin ice baths. :p
- Turnball upgraded them to inflatables, sent council the plans to put a pool in the backyard BUT the ca$h ran out
.... it took Mike to finish it with some landscaping thrown in.

City will be strong but I don't see top 3 yet.

They had limited creativity. Hoping for Kamua speed and some Fitzgerald magic. That won't work for a whole season, however they won't be leaking goal for fun. They have good hight and strength at the back.

Both strikers where feeding off scraps. Macarone looked good but didn't look like he was going to score on any half chances. That one where the new Afghani put him through I thought he should have shot and pretty much messed it up.

McCormick looks pissed off. Two or three more games with no one passing him the ball in good spots and he will be AWOL imo

One Mauk improves and plays a bit higher up the pitch McCormack will enjoy himself. McCormack has a nice first touch and is a bit more intelligent Football wise than his team mates. He looks better than Macarone.

I see Mauk as someone to improve agree but he is not an assist type player, more likely to score him self. Can see McCormick getting frustrated. He didn't get much chance last night but does look quality but can he stay interested? He really needs a Mooy type to give him chances and if gets them will put them away. Agree better than Maccorone and could easily be the best ever if can stay interested and get service. I'm not sure he will get it

'Pornaroli' said to Tara Rushton last night in pre-game that he reckons (hopes) to be back to play CCM in December, so McCormack may have very little time in which to impress Steve Bruce

With Brandan out as well, have they got 5 imports?
New CB
Jackobsen
McCormick

Who else? Could maybe keep him until Brandan back

Pretty boring big blue, they needed some Jets players to finish off all the chances that went begging. Nice seeing Muscat lose to an own goal when they probably should have won, SFC looked at bit rusty and Retre and Wilkshire didn't fill the gaps left very well IMO. Still handled the MV pressing and aggressive tackles and got a lucky break. Maybe Muscat needs a new game plan against them.

Nux v AU, pretty scrappy draw and both teams wasteful in attack and questionable in defence. Thought AU might have looked better but first game over the ditch they would be happy with a draw and probably should have won in the last 10 mins. Izzo went ok and happy to see him not keep a clean sheet for his first AU game, pulled off some good saves as well.

Keen to watch WSW and PG, expect a better quality match.

Wellington were pretty poor but I feel they may cause a few upsets over there this season. I enjoyed their young goalie Keegan Smith, hope he can push on though he did look incredibly raw. Galloway did very well, I feel we will miss him this season. Abbas looks below A-League level, but his time in Korea was apparently horrific so hopefully that's just lack of fitness form him. Rufer wasn't up to standard and the Phoenix desperately need Finkler back if they want to threatening anyone. Krishna would win the golden boot in nearly any other team in the A-League, Andrija Kaludjerovic looked average and isn't a starting A-League striker. Paracki was good at breaking up play but horrific on the ball, Vidosic was very good and could be dangerous this year. Adelaide were disappointing but Wellington is a tough away trip, Izzo was unlucky to have not kept a clean sheet and was let down by his centre backs. Gulum looks like a thug and Blackwood needed to be better to keep his spot ahead of Diawara.

Posco has been good so far for Perth, his full backs are letting him down though. Wanderers look like they could be deadly this season with how quickly they piled on the goals, Keayrn Baccus has turned himself into one hell of a player and is really leading this Wanderers side. If Herd can get back to somewhere back to his best this year and they can sort out their coaching situation the Wanderers could really challenge for silverware.

Izzo seemed to struggle tonight, looked like his 15/16 self. He's more than capable of being a fantastic keeper hopefully that was just an off game for him.

The save on Holman shot was a beauty and recovered well on that poor kick with the double save.

He is a good shot stopper just not great on corners and free kicks and his kicks needs a lot of work.

Roar were cruising then maybe there age came into play. The old guys fading and the young one's not stepping up.
Adelaide came home strong.

Ross Aloisi is a dick. Here him talking smack to Adelaide on the sideline. Is a real angry guy especially after the crap with City last year I think it was

AU would be over the moon with 4 points from 6 for two away games. The Roar Retirees are living up to expectations, the 38 yr old striker I can't help but refer to as Mac and Cheese is class but 5 yrs too old. If Izzo can remove the brain farts from his game he will do well, only reason he survived last nights brain fart was the inexperience of Bitters (D'Agostino) who should have put it past him on both efforts.

Great strike by Absolonsen for the second goal and that's two good goals in two games so he has been a good pick up. Wouldn't be surprised to see AU in the finals and I really like what i'm seeing of their coach as well.

I'm starting to feel nervous for the young Nux keeper tonight, second HAL game and you are away to SFC. I hope he does well but boy is he going to be busy.

Hope the Glory hit their straps this afternoon.

Jeremy Walker staring for Glory! Be still my beating Heart! Come on son earn your contract! Show Aloisi how wrong he was to put Hoffman ahead of you.
Thought he played ok JP and didn't have an easy task marking Nabbout. That was two points gone begging for the Scum and I thought they were going to rout the Glory. I was so happy with Taggarts equaliser. Is Roy a bigger di_k head now or was he that bad for us and I was to blind to see it, he seems to have quite a big ego at the moment. Georgevski is a very dirty player and some how gets away with it.

Shows how much Roy clocked off last year and how poor the service was to him.

He looks really fit and up for it. For how long though.

Shows what a shambles we were last week.

Both Perth goals were good goals

Wellington bossing this one and City can't get going. The Nix are playing like we did early last season, lots of good looking possession but not much penetration. Keegan Smith doing well though hasn't really been tested, looking better and better the more he plays. Vidosic is a danger to any side in the A-League and if Kaluderovic and a few of the Welly's young Kiwi midfielders step up I think they could make the finals.
