ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

James Holland is the most despicable sub human Scum ever.

Like everyone else I am gutted with the result, and have long had misgivings over the level of refing in Aus.... But unfortunatly whats done is done, it sucks, its unfair and ultimatly wrong. Lets just hope that when the Asia cup comes around again we'll shine and the Scum will be shown for the cheaters  :redcard: they are. The problem with the Scum in Asia is that they will give Aus a bad rep.

I've been a Mariners fan since day 1 and sure, we all hate the fact that it was a BLATANT HANDBALL, and not picked up by the 3 blind mice, but if you were James Holland, would you have said to the ref and linesmen, "Mate my hand touched the ball inside the box. It should be a Mariners penalty kick"? Of course you wouldn't !!!!!

This is just ANOTHER incident that has gone against us this year, made worse by the 3 blind mice doing it in a Grand Final.

Hang your heads in shame match officials !!!!

Actually apparently one of the linesman picked it up but because the others didn't it was dropped...

(I'll see if I can find where I read this and if it is true to form... )

I watched the last 5 mins when I got home. After danny got carded, shields runs over to the AR on the western side, whilst looking towards the AR on the eastern side saying (quite clearly) "handball", then talks to the AR on the western side before awarding the goal kick

Maybe if he receives enough death threats he will quit refereeing just like Bill Harrigan did.

im just sick of all the media focusing on a "brilliant jets win" and "danny being banned for life" and giving a small mention of the handball at the end of the game

don't that is considered serious criminal activity and wont reflect well on the marinators

I hate Shields but that is something Jets fans would do

I'm with you.....

I knew how this game was going play out....

I predicted that a stupid mistake in the backs would see Newcastle score against us....

and also in another thread I said this...

I just pray and hope they are given a fair go.... I have been gutted so many times this year by blatant unfair decisions. May this game not be marred in the same way.

Newcastle haven't got the respect that comes along with winning a grandfinal...
Just look at the front page of the telegraph today!...do you see the happy winners on the front page?

No.... you see how the Mariners were ripped off.. YET AGAIN!...

Referee's are destroying the game for supporters.. it's not right, it's not fair and its out right cheating....

Newcastle are well known for cheating and diving etc... but it is up to the referee to be wise to that kind of garbage and be fair...
instead look what has happened?.. Danny looks to face a suspesion, players frustration boiled over,
WHO SAID CHEATS NEVER PROSPER?.... ALL I CAN HOPE FOR IS KARMA!......and that they all get what's coming to them...

It's interesting you say that, all today I keep getting the feeling we are going to win the Premiership next year and take on Melbourne in the GF, while the Jets will suffer a player exodus, internal strife and be one of the backmarkers of next season.

im sure you wouldnt know what silver is. Im sure that the scrap metal from garbage tips is the most valuable thing you own.

and btw he has won the premiers plate, the trophy for the most CONSISTENT team over the regular season

Yes, thats true, but who remembers the "Premiers" (In some places known as Minor Premiers) if they can't go and be consistent til the last round. If points carried through, Newcastle would have played 1 more game, but have 6 more points than the Central Coast, plus they lost less games in 2007/08, so if anyone was the most consistent, it was newcastle. A team that looses 7 games and draws 5 compared to Newcastle's 4 and 8 respectively cant say Central Coast is more consistant. In two more years you'll have another chance to f**k up a grand final!

I don't think there'll be many of them there. Centrelink don't pay for airfares.  ;)

Holland didn't loose the game for us, he actually gave us a lifeline that Shields didn't pick up on.

Mariners should of got a direct, and Holland should of been sent off.

If Sheilds done his job, carma would of turned on James and we would of (possibly) scored the penalty and then went on to win in extra time against a 10 man Jets outfit.

Unfortunatley we are forced to talk about our main chance to stay in the game with this incident when actually we played like shit from the whistle. :'(

This article by Adam Lucius on the Sportal website might be the one:

http://sportal.com.au/football-news-display/have-mercy-on-vukovic-43826

'Television replays clearly show Jets replacement James Holland using his arm to deflect a corner from Tom Pondeljak inside the penalty box.

'One referee's assistant allegedly confirmed the handball, only for his colleague on the other sideline to dismiss it.'

That's good enough for me!

lol, thanks.. :D
I was trying to post up another article but my comp froze...
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,23270164-11088,00.html

Mariners players claimed the assistant referee furthest from the action communicated to Shield that he had spotted the handball, but it was overuled after Shield conferred with the other assistant.

"I saw the handball because I was behind (Holland), on the second post, and I was surprised there was no whistle," said striker John Aloisi, who was booked for his protest and stormed off the pitch after the final whistle before returning.

"Then one of the other players said he heard the referee say to the linesman on the far side, 'So you saw a handball?' And he goes, 'Yeah'.

"So he said, 'I'll go check with the linesman on the near side, because he will have the final say because he was closer to the action'.

"And he said he didn't see it.

"This all happened over a good half a minute. We all saw it so we were arguing.

"We heard the groans from the Jets supporters and we heard the cheers from the Mariners supporters, but the referee said no penalty.

"It's upsetting that the whole stadium saw it, you guys (reporters) saw it, except the referee. People make mistakes, but it's a mistake that cost us.

Nice one, marconigirl.

Are there any referees on this forum? I am wondering what somebody with a stronger grasp than I of the laws regarding handballs thinks about the Holland (in)decision.

Does the fact that a handball allegedly happened in the penalty area (rather than, say, out near the centre circle) influence a referee's decision whether or not to award a handball?

Both my brother and sister are ex refs...
Just asking them now...
Mental Chick (my sis Kerensa) said "that if it directly affected a shot at goal, then yes it is worse"... therefore less likely to award it...

Dad (Kev) said that yes, because its more likely that they are gaining an advatage by it

Hope that made sense..

Of course it does. In the end a hand ball out side the box results in a free kick. In the box it results in a penalty and more than likely a goal. If there is any doubt in the hand ball in the box than i feel 75% of them will not be awarded.

Hollands was a hand ball and was a penalty
