We'll miss him, but you cannot say no to that sort of money.  211 000 Euro a week salary at Madrid too.....

On the plus side -  we're doing a player plus money swap deal with Sporting Lisbon - they're taking Nani back for a year or two and we're getting Joao Moutinho.  ;D

hala madrid...
but give me ribery + benzema any day over ronaldo...
we are still interested in ribery...
but we are not pursuing Benzema (wat the???)
I am 99% sure Man Utd will go after Benzema!
Karim (wat a name :p) is a class act- will become something special...ronaldo is talented but doesnt have that x factor...i dunno - you know wat zidane, ronaldinho, messi + kaka have/had!

What Madrid dont understand is that they have now just made themselves competition in the transfer market...Man Utd.
(Ac Milan arent competitive due to their financial problems)

Real are off their trolleys.

He's not worth it.......no one is imo.

Man U will be laughing all the way to the bank/transfer market.

I reckon Fergie had a quiet word with Ronaldo at the start of last season and told him he'd get his move if he played along. And the desperate mugs at Real have fallen right into it.

Talk about trying to buy a championship!

Read a quote a couple of years back from a jurno who said Fergie has never let anyone go who has gone on to play better than when they were at Man U ... most went down hill ... Stamp being one of the few players who played to near the level he was when he left...

Manchester United Want Real Madrid's Arjen Robben - Report
Arjen Robben could be on his way back to the Premier League with Old Trafford looking a likely destination...
11 Jun 2009 10:49:49

Manchester United are preparing to ask Real Madrid how much they want for Arjen Robben now that the relationship between the clubs has calmed during talks about Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to believe that the Dutchman's arrival could help ease the loss of the Portuguese star, after being advised that Los Merengues are willing to let him go.

Madrid's president, Florentino Perez, was rumoured to want all the Dutch players on the club's books to be sold to raise funds this summer with Robben in particular being told he can go.

The Red Devils' interest could alert Liverpool and Manchester City, but it is believed that United would have first refusal as they would cite the Ronaldo move for them to be given favourable terms.

Robben's injury record at Madrid has caused concern among the new board and coaching staff and the arrival of Ronaldo, allied with moves for other star forwards, will see him squeezed out.

Earlier this week the player's father, Hans Robben, explained that he had held talks with Madrid's general manager Jorge Valdano and that nothing had been decided as yet.

A bid from Manchester United though could push the matter up the Spanish club's list of priorities and see Robben move to Old Trafford instead of Wigan's Antonio Valencia.

A deal for Barcelona to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been agreed, and all that is missing for the transfer to become official is for Samuel Eto'o to give his okay to move the other way...

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be on his way to Barcelona after the European champions reached a deal with Inter, but the move depends on whether Samuel Eto'o agrees to the other way, according to a report.

El Mundo Deportivo state that days of negotiating have produced an agreement that would see the Italian outfit receive 10 million plus the services of the Cameroonian striker.

That is a lot lower than Inter president Massimo Moratti is reported to have wanted when he dined in Barcelona with Blaugrana chief Joan Laporta last week, when he asked for Eto'o and 40m.

Ibrahimovic is keen to make the transfer because he believes that he will have more chance of winning the Champions League at Camp Nou than he would if he stays at the San Siro, the report claims.

On the flip side, Eto'o will only make the move simple if his wage demands are met and Inter may him the 65m over five seasons that he is believed to have asked for.

During talks with Barcelona on Monday, Eto'o's representative did not reach an agreement with the club to stay or go and that has left his next move up in the air.

Last summer coach Pep Guardiola told the former Real Mallorca star on his list that he was not wanted and could leave along with Deco and Ronaldinho, but the player was transformed in pre-season training and earned his place in the squad.

That move paid dividends, but the new trainer was alleged to have been considering looking for a player with Ibrahimovic's physique to lead his front line and he may now have landed him.

Laporta has stated that he would keep Eto'o if it was down to him, but he was full of praise for what Ronaldinho had done for the club in the months leading up to his departure.

Journalists in Catalunya have been surprised by the lack of movement at Camp Nou so far this summer, given that last term the club moved quickly to wrap up their activity before the main holidays.

David Villa looks set to join Real Madrid after Chelsea's chief scout in Spain revealed that the Valencia star is in advanced talks with the capital club

Real Madrid are on the brink of signing David Villa from Valencia after Chelsea were told that they had no chance of signing him, according to the Blues' Spanish scout

Juan Cruz Sol is the English team's representative in Spain and he stated that Chelsea have been given a firm "no" to their offer for the player because the Mestalla club are "in advanced negotiations with Real Madrid".

The former Valencia and Madrid player confirmed that the Blues "had made an important offer for him", but he insisted that it was not for 48 million as has been reported.

"Villa wants to go to Real Madrid" and things are "well advanced" meaning that Chelsea "recognise that and are waiting to see what happens".

"He wants to join Madrid because he wants to stay in Spain and that is normal.

"There is no chance of Villa going to Chelsea because he wants to now go to Madrid," he said according to Marca.

Valencia had insisted that  35 million for their striker would not be enough and reports in the Spanish media that Madrid had agreed to add Alvaro Negredo to the deal appear to be true.

Real Madrid have already signed Kaka and have had a bid for Cristiano Ronaldo accepted, so the capture of Villa could make it a huge week for the Bernabeu-based outfit.

Inter To Pounce For Benzema If Ibrahimovic Joins Barcelona - Report
The Nerazzurri are reportedly eyeing the French international if 'Ibra' leaves this summer...

Inter may turn their attention to signing Lyon ace Karim Benzema if Zlatan Ibrahimovic heads to Barcelona, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.

A number of reports have claimed Inter may swap Ibrahimovic for Eto'o and receive a cash lump sum on top of that from the Blaugrana as part of the deal.

However, Il Corriere claims Inter may scrap the Eto'o idea and opt to move for Benzema as he earns less wages than the Cameroon star. Voices suggest the Nerazzurri have been attracted by Benzema's 4million per year wages compared to Eto'o's 10m a year demands.

In addition, the deal with Lyon could be made easier if Patrick Vieira heads back to France. The midfielder hinted that he wanted regular football and that he could leave the Italian side.

However, Barcelona would have to pay Massimo Moratti 70m for 'Ibra' if there was no swap deal. The Rome-based paper seems certain that a deal will go through, but their report fails to mention the fact that Inter denied a negotiation with Barcelona was in place on their official website on Wednesday evening.

Report: Chelsea Table Formal 51m Bid To Atletico Madrid For Sergio Aguero
According to English and Spanish reports, the Blues have launched an official offer for El Kun

10 Jun 2009 08:30:26

Chelsea appear to have grown tired beating around the bush in the transfer market and they have now decided to set their sights on Atletico Madrid starlet Sergio Aguero.

After reportedly having a 43 million offer for David Villa turned down by Valencia and most recently being linked with a wild goose chase for Milans Alexandre Pato, the Blues are now ready to make their first big signing under new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

According to The Times and ElMundo.es, Chelsea made an official 51 million (45m) bid for Aguero last night. The actual transfer fee, however, is expected to be much lower as the current offer includes incentives and bonuses based on Agueros appearances and success at Stamford Bridge. The 51m mark, however, falls well short of the players near 60 million buy-out clause at Atleti.

The 21-year-old is also being tracked by some of Europes other superpowers, including Inter and Barcelona. Los Colchoneros have yet to respond to Chelseas bid.

Kolo Toure To Leave Arsenal For Manchester City In Micah Richards Swap - Report
The Ivorian defender is set for a switch to Eastlands, it seems...

7 Jun 2009 23:50:35

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who has reportedly agreed a fee of 13 million for Ajax's Belgian centre-half Thomas Vermaelen, has also been linked with a move for Manchester City's utility defender Micah Richards.

Wenger will let Kolo Toure move in the opposite direction to Eastlands, according to reports in The Daily Mail, which also claims that Richards has been touted around Premier League clubs for 6m, as City boss Mark Hughes has lost patience with the player's apparently poor attitude.

That is a significant reduction in the 20m he was rated at only last season, and it may be that Wenger would rather take 10m from the Citizens for Toure.

The Ivorian has 12 months left on his Gunners contract and has his heart set on a move to City, The Mail reports, after almost joining them in the January transfer window.

Carlos Tevez Seeks Maradona Advice Regarding His Manchester United Future - Report
The hard-working forward has reportedly sought the advice of his national manager...

Manchester United's tireless striker Carlos Tevez, fast approaching the conclusion of his two-year loan spell, has taken heed of advice given by Argentina national manager Diego Maradona as to where he should next play his football, according to a source close to the Albicelestes camp.

Reports in The Sunday Mirror claim that Tevez - who was an intermittent presence in Sir Alex Ferguson's line-up last season, will decide his future this week.

A source close to Maradona is reported to have said, "All the players speak to Maradona when they have big decisions. He is not just the national coach, he is their friend."

Tevez has two major options: either stay at Old Trafford, or move across the city to local rivals Manchester City, as both clubs are alleged to have agreed the price set by Tevez's economic rights owner; Kia Joorabchian.

He has currently been in his homeland as his nation continue their preparations in qualifying for the World Cup in South Africa. Argentina recently defeated Colombia by a slim 1-0 scoreline thanks to a Daniel 'Cata' Diaz goal, and now face Ecuador midweek.
