ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

if gold coast are using mile sterjovski as a fall back marquee we should go for him

we should also pick up the ogmonster as his commitments in korea are not until next season

its pretty exciting to think we might be able to draw some quality players to the club, i guess its the start of the silly season with rumours etc

Link to SMH story re draw, mentions Lawrie interested in David Carney, as previously mentioned on other thread unlikely to come off but no harm in trying.

damn, he's good
send that vid to Laurie :p
seriously though, i've often thought it would be good for clubs to allow fans abroad to somehow contact them about possible talent (if theyve got an eye for such things) as a club can never look everywhere, and even with the mariners, there seems to be a fair amount of fans at different corners

Isnt that how the scum buy their marquees?

Surely either Nik or Saso will be leaving us come season end.
How about Robbie Fowler? Yeah, he's old, but would still be a quality signing, playing with any of our three other strikers. Oh Asia..

I'd rather pay Sterjovski the money, a current Socceroo looking to go to South Africa.

yep same, especially when culina has confirmed he's coming back to australia to play with the gold coast (source 442)

I don't understand how Sterj fills the criteria of a Marquee player (same goes for Culina for that matter)? He can't get a game at Derby FFS, surely we should be setting our sites a little higher! Fowler, Juninho, Yorke these are the types of names that we should be chasing. Superstars in the twilight of their careers that come with massive reps to draw in crowds!

Whats Zizou, Maldini or Larsson up to these days?

The fact that they are current Socceroos may have something to do with it ::)

So is Holman, Milligan, Carney, Wilkshire, Covic... So was Aloisi and everyone thought that that funny enough when SFC signed him. What a stupid f**king arguement.

The idea of a Marquee is to bring people who perhaps are not familiar with the game. A chance to see a great or someone who has done something in the game? I was think more along the lines of three above... Names that people who don't follow football as much would have heard off.

I'm not sure of their contract status but here are a few others...

Rivaldo, Figo, Pires, Roberto Carlos, Seedorf, Recoba, Salgado, Shevchenko, Guti, Nedved, Oliver Neuville, Veron and Christian Vieri.

Past greats of the game who can really boost the profile of the league domestically and internationally!

hmm let me see, most of these are retired, some are constantly injured and some are still playing top flight football
