ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Usain Bolt!

it was pointed out to me ( by my boy the highly technical EPL snob) that bolts goals were due to keeper f**kups ...but ain’t a good percentage of goals keeper f**kups...the first goal was a damn good goal for a bloke whose been playing for 20 minutes...the second was no worse a cluster than that goal mcbreen scored at WSW when their keeper vanished into thin air....basically who fkn cares how he scored em as long as he scored em
I used to play GK in my day and I reckon I would have slotted in his second goal if I was on the pitch.
Have to say his first goal was a pretty good effort. As pointed out in the forum, better finishing than last years strikers. Lol

Trick? Why? Just use his height, speed and build.
If we can get him to effectively head a cross, standing and at pace, then IMO that will be more than enough and he could manage a good few goals that way. If he ends up a one trick pony, that's fine with me.

When I say trick, I mean confound, bamboozle and generally makes horses arses of them on a regular basis

And so the Bolt sideshow continues ............ the only difference between when it was announced and now is that I’m now on board.:thumbup:
The huge jamaican partying disco queen has turned out to be a quality humble gentleman and roll model for the community dedicated to his sporting dreams.
It is still a sideshow to the aleague but being very well managed by the club. I have to admit I cheered when he scored and feel that the goal has given this whole exercise creditability with enormous cudos to the club and coaches ............ world wide.
I hope the schedule keeps on till january, it is a great ride and from the crowd there last night the kids are lapping it up.
Well done ccm.:shoutclap::shoutclap:
My favourite Offy post of all time

I was happy(/surprised) with his link play and through balls on a couple of occasions
I think he has a great head in his shoulders.

Even that early miss, to get his head back in the game after that shows a level of composure many players lack. I think he'll continue to grow.

I liked that he was humble and honest, saying how he panicked a bit for the miss, and he then took his first goal very well. Have seen any number of strikers butcher chances like that one.

Those are great comments from Shaun. Everyone calling this a circus needs to have a look at the commentary coming out of our front office. This has all been according to the original plan - Usain got his first game to have a taste and feed the frenzy. This was always going to be his second match, and a more important one given he has now had time with the trainers and the team. He has show remarkable progress form his first match in awareness, skill and fitness. In his first game, as exciting as I found it, he looked like a new born bamby, and was gassed after 5 minutes. This time out he played 70 odd minutes and looked much much better. Also he had composure for that time. Kudos to him and out S+C staff. But he still isnt ready for the A-League, so our boys are continuing with his training until January.

Great work.

Well he has done one thing and that is create a lot of off season conversations. Time will tell if it was worth it or not. I’m still on the fence and there are some very valid points made by both sides.

On another note it would be interesting to see if he was contracted how serious the HAL defences would take his presence. No doubt every HAL full back would not want to be on Bolts highlight real letting him beat them and score. This distraction alone could make him a super sub as it would create space and opportunities for others to capitalise on. Just a thought.

Circus ........ sideshow ......... whatever, do not need to be taken in negative perspective. Like “beauty” they can be taken as in the eyes of the beholder :naughty: or the realist if you like.

Not everybody gets the comments from the front office ......... I used to but apparently not everybodies cup of tea.:grouphug:

The one thing Im be worried about is some defender having a Musc**t level brain snap and breaking bolts leg with a tackle... never will happen but still

It’s understood that FFA will provide the Mariners with a final call on Bolt imminently.

Should they opt not to back the experiment of unleashing him on the A-League, then it’s likely Mariners owner Mike Charlesworth - who has already spent over $500,000 on the project - might struggle to prolong the relationship with Bolt.

His Mariners dalliance has generated over 700 million online hits, and an estimated $24 million worth of media coverage.

It’s a value - in terms of potential spikes in attendances and TV ratings - the Mariners feel could be worth more to the league in purely commercial terms than Melbourne Victory marquee Keisuke Honda, whose acquisition was backed by FFA to the tune of $1 million plus."

Here lies the problem. Who ever pays up needs him on the field to get a return on investment. Whether that be Fox or Charlesworth.
