*sigh* the new player talk sounded good though - until they said Australian - can't think of anyone unsigned right now who could fix this mess of an attack.
Then again, I also don't think attack would be an issue this season so that shows what i know.
Anyway, Happy New Year everyone, may it be an awesome one!
Djite is avaliable could help, not sure if Duke is out of contract but I can't find anything online about him re-signing for Shimizu, not sure if Fabio actually became Australian but he is out of contract.

I'm sorry but that was just not good enough. We have our entire squad available, a squad nearly entirely hand picked by Paolo that he has had 15 months with, and we were atrocious. We got outplayed by a team that had fired their best player of the season and their marquee and was in complete disarray. This was one of our biggest games of the season, a game that has been advertised by our club since the fixture was released, a game we needed to win to keep up with the top 6 and we just simply didn't care. Apart from Storm and Appiah we didn't fight for the ball, we didn't try and get the ball and move it quickly when it went out of play and we continuously made simple unforced errors. This was probably our biggest game of the season and we couldn't care less, nobody was making an effort to run and create space and we just allowed the Phoenix, the side that has conceded the most goals this season, to be completely defensively unbreakable. If it wasn't for Ben Kennedy we would have lost this game by two or three.

We beat this mob 4-1 just a month or so ago. I get shit is ordinary right now but don't pretend half the season didn't happen.
I'm not denying we've been good. To expand im more leaning towards the lack of a goal threat. Hoole has really been the only player that when he needs to shoot you can kind of rely on him to get a shot off. And that's saying something cause hes been wasteful at times. There isn't really another reliable goal threat that's creating shots or getting onto chances and delivering a shot.

We are clearly short done penetrating power. Both Adelaide games and this one were lost courtesy of them playing a packed defense and us having no idea how to deal with it. Be nice to have someone who could do that sort of thing.

How about Okon reminds the likes of Pain that he is playing for his contract, he only got interested in the game in the final 15 minutes and god did Hoole give me the royal shits again tonight.

We only looked like we wanted anything from the game after the substitutions, so where was that intensity for the preceding 70 minutes?

Like others have said, we would have been slaughtered if we had been playing a decent team but I am still trying to work out how much of the malaise is lack of effort by the players and what is poor coaching. It’s about time Okon started holding some of the players accountable.

I am hoping that the signing is Mitch Malia, as he showed how hungry he is during his brief stint with the Glory.

I think Malia would be a good signing though maybe at the end of the season rather than now, we desperately need a striker and I think Djite would be a good option so would Duke or potentially Deni Juric/Kwame Yeboah.

A few things I noticed tonight that have been going on for a while but have not been commented on here.

In the warmups when they are practising shooting Hoole seems to be the only one with a decent shot in him. The rest look like Caceras snr used to years ago when practising his free kicks.

Tonight the Nux played 5 across the back in a compressed defence. We needed runners to get in behind, but more importantly we need someone who can provide for those runs. we were never going to dribble through and they had the width to cover swapping from one side to the other. They also had enough back to handle any crosses.

Asdrubal is a striker who plays off the shoulder of the last defender and needs someone to play sneaky through balls to his runs. He got into plenty of good positions tonight and started plenty of runs but no one provided the pass. The same used to happen to O'Donovan last year. No one seems to notice in the crowd because they are all watching the ball. All the idiots in the prawn sandwich area can do is to scream "get on side". If he goes to another team he will get a bagful (see O'Donovan). DDS made a few goos runs when our wingers or Jake had the ball but was never seen.

Our wingers should be making runs into holes or providing the ball for DDS or Asdrubal making the runs but Hoole seems to want to just dribble and Paine is stuck to the sideline.

DDS is great on the ball and a great dribbler but he does not yet have the experience or style to conduct the game from the #10 position, or we do not have enough good players around him.

If you are going to break down defences like the Nux put up last night you are going to have to play one touch football with movement in attack. I could count on one hand the number of one touch passes in the attacking third tonight.

Oh well you can only hope that Timmy can fix the attack next year.

We can dream all we like but the reality is likely to be very different. I spoke to a senior club person after tonight’s game to express my concern about the need for fresh faces and was told there was little or no money available, so don’t go thinking any big names will be coming through the door in January.

Looks like I didn't miss much.

To struggle this much against the biggest basket case in the league- at home- should sound major warning bells. I'd say the WSW game f**ked everything the club looked to be building towards, but the warning signs were there against the Glory two weeks earlier- too much dawdling at the back, a lack of scoring opportunities created or ability to dominate against a team that should've been easily put away.

The side right now feels a long way from the CCM we grew to love. It's inevitable that the playing roster and personnel will change with time, but there's no real sense of purpose in this side. It's like the majority of them are going through the motions playing paint-by-numbers football- 0 goals in 4 games isn't acceptable. To see the official team account on Fb highlighting that CCM kept the opposition scoreless is laughable. Never mind that- a team with aspirations for a top 6 finish in a 10 team comp have gone 360 minutes without scoring a goal- and didn't trouble the opposition goalie playing a shambles of a side at the foot of the ladder.

They can spend all the money they like, but the biggest problem right now appears to be attitude. I don't know if it's a result of the WSW robbery or what, but it needs to be rectified ASAP to save a season going down the shitter...

1) half the season would be an exaggeration
2) what happened up until a month or more ago doesnt mean squat if we have regressed.

What the hell has gone wrong? How are we getting worse each week??

So What the hell is okon doing about it? Why arent players fighting for their spot?
