The Las Vegas Lights have confirmed they are interested in adding sprint legend Usain Bolt to their roster as they continue their first season in existence.

Bolt, 31, retired from athletics in 2017 after an incredible career which included eight Olympic Games gold medals and world record times at both 100 and 200m.

Following his retirement, the Jamaican stated his intention to move into football, where he hopes to fulfil his dream of playing professionally.

Now the Lights, who play in the second-tier USL in the United States, hope to lure him to the famous casino city.

"Of course we have an interest in Usain Bolt. Why wouldn't we?" Las Vegas owner and CEO Brett Lashbrook said in declarations reported by ESPN.

"He's the world's fastest guy and he's trained at some of the best clubs in the world. To come play Division 2 soccer in the U.S. actually makes all the sense in the world.

"This guy is an absolute specimen of an athlete and we think he could absolutely succeed at the USL level.

"Any coach in any sport who says they wouldn't like the opportunity to work with the world's fastest man at his prime would just be flat out lying to you."

Bolt has most recently been linked with A-League team Central Coast Mariners, who are keen to take the speedster on a six-week trial.

Agent Ricky Simms, however, has played down the chances of his client playing in Australia, stating that Bolt has "several possibilities" as he seeks a club.

It still really makes me believe Shaun is in the UK for other reasons.

Hopefully a good outcome, but I bet it is something no one expects.

Not in the UK yet. I saw Shaun at Kariong Oval yesterday. His sister and her team mates were begging him to sign Bolt.

I think you will find that Bolt's football ability has not been tested. Each time it looks like he was selling something. New boots, Soccer-Aid etc.

Maybe not tested ......... but certainly observed. Brockie’s report (442) seeing him in sth africa training with the team he was playing for ???.

He was there to announce Soccer-Aid coming off the back of a hamstring injury. He was not 'training' in any real sense. Brockie who is a pro-footballer, at 30 and supposedly at the peak of his powers, has not scored in a League game since September last year. Maybe Brockie is talking him down so that he doesn't go back and take his spot. As it is Bolt has scored as many as Brockie since they trained together. ;)

Hi everyone,

My names coastal.

And it’s been 24 hours since I’ve read a Bolt post.

Welcome Coastal,

Thank you for joining our circle.

Its been a tough 4 years for all of us Buddy.

The idea of replacing one very fast talentless Black footballer with another even faster talentless Black footballer has been challenging for all of us but that is why we are all here together to support each other.

Now before we have a collection for our leader Mike Charlesworth does anyone wish to speak?...…..oh not you Mossy, can you please just f**k off to the tanning salon and leave us alone.
