or possibly 4-3-1-2 or 3-5-2

For a number of years I played in a very successful team.... and as always there was a turn over of players year to year with a solid core of about 8 players.

Two of our players coaches at lower levels in the NSL and played for teams like Apia [before the NSL].

Anywho there was a two year stint when the change over players were not as strong as those that left.

We played a 5 - 3 - 1 - 1 .... or 5 - 3 - 2.

The two outside backs ran there backsides off and with unlimited interchange there were four of us that simply ran all day.

The key element was to protect the centre of the park from the edge of the circle on the halfway to the goal .... it worked a charm and I do wonder if it could work for us...

Mcging needs practice on his attacking. Nothing a few extra hours a week wouldn't improve.
Can you get him to practice his throw ins too please.
And I the only one who cringes when he takes them. Always close to a foul throw.
Probably one of the only players in the A league to have two foul throws against him in one game.

Santalab was mentioned before as being available, does he pass the "no dickheads" policy.

I would say no. There is a lot of trouble in the WSW dressing room at the moment under Gombau and he seems to be publicising it.

While he has heart and skills we are looking for, he is 35. Past it.

I would not touch him with a six foot pole.

Aliavin Powolski, a six foot Pole, said he would not touch him either. o_O

The Central Coast Mariners wish to advise the departure of seven players and two staff members, effective immediately.

The club can today confirm that Liam Rose, Storm Roux, Jacob Poscoliero, Josh Bingham, Blake Powell, Peter Skapetis and Tom Glover have completed their playing careers with the Mariners. RIP Rosebud, but you hit a ceiling. The rest are good to go. Everyone here apparently loved Balder? Why for? Sounds like Sully got the heave ho because he was brutally exposed.

In other news, the contacted players actually look ok. If you add strong players to that you can expect at least a top 9 finish!

What was needed. There is no time for sentiment, the club has to be better next season, the players that are left are probably right for the job. Get in another 8 or 9 players which must include 3 or 4 of real quality and we should be much better. The players that are left either have the quality or at least have the right attitude. Looking forward to the coming weeks announcements.

Young Liam is the only one i am disappointed with. But he has had a fair crack of the whip, and although he has talent we need fighters as well.

MM clearly has plans for better fitness.
Sully is interesting, but can't say I'm disappointed.
Any word on 2IC yet?

Syd I reckon Hoole can come good. For an obvious goose and despite his pirouette routine, he was still our best attacking player in the last half of the season. I want to see him well coached with a senior player to take him under his wing.

I desperately want to believe that Hoole can fulfill his undoubted potential but I'm not too sure. Heaps of coaches have tried Van Egmond, Stubbins, Jones, Miller, Arnold, Okon. Mulvey is a brave man if he thinks he can.
