ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Have we reached bottom yet?

After the last couple of weeks, I would say we are still falling.

It is difficult to believe we can go lower, but clearly this Club has shown a remarkable ability to be utter crap.

Last two games, instead of building on our previous games and fixing our errors. We’ve totally changed our mentality and look like a different side. Massive step backwards. Except that I think that the 3 new players have added a little quality and Mick said we at least showed sone game smarts. But we should have been down by at least two in my estimation.

Has to be said from Bolt and McCormack to losing Millar and bringing in two Sheffield kids. Bizarre and painful season.

As said elsewhere I was totally numb watching that last game. Sickening it's come to this.

Where is there any hope or excitement?

Only 2 avenues:
* A win against roar and the hope of not getting the spoon is all that's left for this season.
* A new rebuild, maybe. Been through this cycle too many times to hold out too much hope but it's possible that a rebuild and new coach could help. We'd be no worse off than the 2 new clubs providing MC is willing to throw comparable money at the coach and squad.

There is one BIG difference between us an new teams - History. We have been shite for the better part of 5 years, and that gets ingrained.

The new teams start with a clean slate, we have to overcome many years of mediocrity form our management, our performance staff, our recruitment, and our roster.

Thats significant, and enough to turn a LOT of players off.

Agreed. The flip side though is that we also have a lot of positive history, a heap of infrastructure etc etc.

Point is we have a massive uphill battle

The age of mediocrity ended... We have long entered the age of incompetent self-destruction.

Have we reached bottom yet? Here are some definitive numbers to benchmark from:

World club rankings https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/global-club-soccer-rankings/

255th - Glory
271st - Sydney
325th - Victory
355th - City
364th - Scum
410th - Adelaide
439th - WSW
497th - Phoenix (who deserve to be higher then WSW imo)
504th - Roar
567th - CCM

With only 628 clubs on the list, the Mariners find themselves worrying close to the bottom with League Two side MK Dons and United Soccer League side San Antonio ahead of them

if we reach 628th, can we be relegated though? if not, then MC not likely to give a toss.....

Yeah this massively. It doesn’t excuse Mulvey. But it’s a hard reality any coach we hand this basket case to will have to solve.

There are 61 clubs worse than us?

Incredible.
