Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The smirk has been removed after they laughed when the CC agreed to a Sydney hosted GF for the good of the game.

OUTSPOKEN Newcastle Jets owner Con Constantine is ready to resume hostilities with Football Federation Australia over plans to strip the city of hosting rights for the grand final.

FFA should change their initials MHC...thats Money Hungry C**ts.....a team works all year to get the home GF and unless your from Sydney or Melbourne this doesnt happen....HEY BUCKLEY..IF YA DONT MEAN IT DONT F*****N SAY IT geez these administrators shit me

I can see both arguments.

1. A team wins the right to host the GF - it should be in their home town for the added advantage.

2. Bluetongue = 20k, EAS = 27k........SFS = 42k, in terms of marketing Sydney or QLD will be a better option.

If Newcastle or CC wins the right to host the GF, and Sydney qualify, to host it in Sydney is like a kick in the guts IMO, and I would hope that SFS is not used.

All will become clear in the next few weeks anyway!

The article seems to suggest that the Olympic Stadium would be used for either team.

But agree that playing Sydney there would be soul-destroying. They would have way more fans.

Ironically, if it was Mariners or Jets vs Sydney, the game would be MORE likely to be moved to Sydney, because the potential $$$ for the FFA would be higher.

Mariners vs Jets at ANZ could be great.

Anyone remember the 97 arl GF. at SFS.  Newcastle fans travelled in enormous numbers & must have been % 80 of the crowd.

If Newcastle can do it for league, whats stopping the jets or mariners from doing it also?

It is also advantages to CC in dollar terms to be held in front of a crowd likley to be double or even triple that of home.

The FFA seem to care more about gate takings for one game then running a fair and just league

Have you been listening? Sorry to sound harsh but the whole point of this GF saga is that the FFA control the finals and take all the gate earnings at each game.

What about ticketing? If the Mariners qualify 1st into the GF and have to play SFC, will we be offered the lion's share of the tickets like SFC were in V1?

We would have to be offered the lions share of the tickets, we would be the 'home' team... Wouldnt it be cool if we played Sydney there and 'the cove' lost 'the cove' to us....  :piralaugh: :piralaugh: :piralaugh:

How does that work for teams that share the same stadium overseas? Is there a "home" end and do supporters have to move to the "away" end if they are playing the other team sharing the stadium (if they are classified as the away team)?

I dont know how it works... Looking at all the clubs in the HAL, they seem to have the home fans based at the Northern end..

They have home ends at the opposite end of the stadium eg at the Stadio Olimpico, Lazio fans have the Curva Nord whilst Roma fans have the Curva Sud

Well I don't know any source but basically the FFA controls the finals games. They run the ticketing and take the profits. They have the right to move the games wherever they want.

It's done this way financially to essentially benefit all teams rather than just successful ones. The money isn't exactly split 8 ways but does run the national federation so fair enough.

edited: because i stuffed the quoting up first time

The funniest part IMO is that the Scum would actually be worse off than us because they'd have to travel twice as far.

If it was a CCM & Jets GF played at ANZ, could you imagine the train ride to the game.................The losing team supporters would need to have thick skin on the way home............

Both the trains heading home and the train station at Olympic Park, would have to be heavily policed. Given the design at Olympic Park Station could CityRail and the Police get their act together and have a separate station for each set of fans, and different trains for different supporters?

Is it possible to have express servcies running straight to Olympic Park? For example, can we get express trains that start at Newcastle and run express through the Central Coast then onto Olympic Park, and express trains that start at say Wyong and go all stops into Woy Woy then express to Olympic Park (thus giving better separation of the supporters)?

Pete you have way too much faith in Shittyrail to be able to pull that off... remember when there's a Mariners/Sydney/Scum game there's usually trackworks on the same day...
