but alas...scoring is scoring-keepers arent that much better if better at all in EPL (except Cech who is freakin awesome). I would feel a lot safer gettin a scoring player from SPL then somewhere less physical- u cant get more physical than EPL- he is a poacher!
Wat's wrong with McDonald/Owen comparison. Owen is better play (for now) but i think it is very valid, both 173cm in height and similar stature...both typical poachers (except Owen years ago shredded every1 with crazy pace- but I am comparing them today)...both 2 of the best headers in world under 175cm (can u think of many better). And I like both of the players ;) Probs cozi am like same height :p

hmmm i'm pretty sure that EPL keepers are MUCH better than that of SPL with the odd exception (eg Boruc)

Van der Sar
Cech
Reina
James
Howard
Friedel
Foster
Gordon (ok he came from the SPL :p)
Given
Jaaskelainen
Carson
Green
Isaksson
Hart
Schwarzer

the list goes on and on...

sure Cech is in his own league but the rest of them are all great players or they wouldn't be playing in the best league in the world

In other EPL transfer talk:

Giovani Dos Santos joins Tottenham
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/7440216.stm

Man City looked set to sign Brazilian striker, Jo from CSKA Moscow for around 20m pound
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/7442429.stm

Plenty of other rumours/negotiations going around atm with the bigger ones being:

Adebayor and Drogba holding talks with Milan
Ronaldinho still in talks with Man City
Nasri to complete move to Arsenal after Euros
Cardiff accept offers for Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal, Man Utd and Everton
Xabi Alonso to Juventus
Deco to Chelsea
Barry to Liverpool

the silly season is well under way and will only get much more crazier when euros are done and the emerging stars become hot commodities

yeah i agree too BUT if its a big pay packet he wants then Man City is the place to go with their owner throwing money around like the chelsea of old
Silly of Barca though if they really are planning on letting both Deco and Ronaldinho go after one poor season...i have a feeling they'll be immense at their new destinations

I'm still reeling from the Michael Owen/McDonald comparison.

McD plays in a shit league against players not markedly better than the HAL (except for Rangers & his own Celtic).

An EPL manager would have be utterly clueless to buy him.

Newcastle it is then :)

Agree totally. McDonald is only proven against the mediocre defences in SPL, much the same as Vids scored a boatload when he played for Celtic. Put an Aussie shirt on McDonald and he couldn't score in a brothel. Quick ! Get a friendly against American Samoa organised !!!
FFS give the guy a chance. He,s only played a couple of games for his country.Everyone knows he,s not playing in the strongest league in the world but that doesn,t mean he,s not capable of scoring at this level. It,s not as if we are overloaded with available talent up front at the moment.Plenty of players first make a name for themselves in smaller leagues. It doesn,t mean they are not capable of moving up a level.I think you,d see a different MacDonald playing along side Kennedy.
As for Viduka he ,s scored plenty over the years in the EPL as well.I think a lot of the critisism he has received for his Australian performances is unwarranted. The role he was asked to play under Hiddink was a lot different to his club role and imo he did it pretty well most of the time.
His attitude to playing for his country is another matter but from a pure playing point of view I don,t think we can be too critical of him.

Mmmm, The defense is obviously just so much tighter than what he's used to and he's just quite simply being marked out of the game + Mc Donald just doesn't seem able to create any space for himself. Personally I am getting a little tired of watching him madly beckoning for the ball to be played into him while he's stationary on the edge of the box with three defenders patiently standing behind him... and then he gets pissed that the ball isn't given! It's not that he hasn't scored which bothers me half as much that I just don't see him doing the work that convinces me his play is very likely going to lead to many goals. Hey, I WANT TO BE WRONG, and really hoping he makes a complete fool out of me, but he certainly doesn't seem to be the answer we are looking for up front and I'd be highly surprised if Kennedy alongside impacts on this at all. Strongly agree that upfront we are looking a little short on answers in general...

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has ruled out a move to Spurs - and hinted that Inter Milan remain an option. "Tottenham, and I hope the English fans will forgive me, are a club in mid-table and I need more," said Eto'o. (Fox Sports, 1220)

yeah not a big fan of tottenham but wouldnt it be nice if we were to have a break from the big 4 and tottenham is a team in a good position to divide them

If they are after another striker..does this mean they are bracing themselves for the departure of Dimitar Berbatov
