The word Van makes it GVE, he's as close as we have to Dutch or South American manager, and they're just racists.

Lawrie McKinna should be coach of the year for gaining the Premiers plate and entry to the GF and more so if we win and take the double. I do wonder who the almost redundant SBS team will consider the best coach this year if we take the double. I could have a guess, but I would'nt want to encourage stupidity.

Something I've been contemplating since the start of the Final Series. Lawrie took the gong from the FFA for HAL Coach of the Year in V1, winning the Premiership and Championship, smart enough to sign quality players who made Socceroo camp's Wilko, Tommy, JA, Danny & Hutch (Heff injured would have got a start)), what else could top that?

If fcuk'n GVE wins it I like to hear how his performance this year is better than our Gaffer

9 players in socceroos train on squad, 2 in squad and yes i know that ccm had one player and he player.
To be honest it is 2 legged race between McKinna and van Egmond.

*9 players in the socceroos squad
and
*winning the Premiership and getting into the GF (also if the Mariners win) -plus being the top team for what was is 17 (???) out of the 21 weeks and the other 3 were only due to goal difference!?!??!
Are they really that close???

Put your house, the kids and the wife on Lawrie being coach of the year.

There is absolutely no doubt that winning the Premiership and being the first team in the GF clearly demonstrates who is the best coach.

GVE can't handle pressure, he's made some pretty crap decisions lately.

He's NOT coach of the year.

TBH they are both very good coaches and both IMO have had excellent seasons.

GVE big pluses as I see it are putting up with Con and his Lardel decision, then not having the money to keep some of his better players next season and the lost of key players from last year, yet he still managed to get them this far so he is a very good coach and the A-League needs people of his Calibre.

LM is not coaching a team he is creating a destiny and his greatest can be shown that despite a large number of injuries he has won. Also he has build without doubt in Tobin & Ferguson the support staff in the league.

Close call for me but both have my respect

Ok Pete...here we go.. I spoke to Ursus yesterday and he convinced me that Foster is an "arsehole".... therefore, I retract my original comments of him being a nice guy!

Have a listen to ABC Local Radio 702 / 92.5 FM tomorrow morning. Sometime before 6am, Adam Spencer will be speaking to Craig Foster about the A-League. You may have a chance to phone in if you're up that early!

This morning Adam Spencer mentioned that he would be talking to Craig Foster after 6am today about the Champions League. Adam Spencer also has a regular comedy spot each Wednesday morning. I texted in to ask whether he'd selected Craig Foster for this morning's comedy spot, because Foster's comments on the Mariners are hilarious. Another listener texted in with a much more serious criticism of Foster.

Well, you might get a chance to question the man directly tomorrow!

I worked with a guy who used to drive the coach for the Spirit team. He said that Foster was - as you see on TV -a dickhead.

Patrick was invited and allowed into the dressing rooms by management of Spirit and Foster (as captain) tried to have him thrown out, because he wasn't "one of us". By that stage Patrick had driven the team around for a good season or more and got to know a few of the players and management. He only ever took up the invite because he wanted a softdrink for free, ffs!

Contrary to what Striker may say, I have never met the guy. I just used to watch the shit football that was produced by the team he captained.
It was the most negative style of play you could imagine.
I do not think he was an outstanding captain. It was clear that there was a fair bit of disharmony in the team at the time. Too many bigheads and dickheads along with atrocious management decisions.

Craig Foster will be on ABC Central Coast at 2:30pm tomorrow (Thursday).

I was just on air and said that Craig Foster is stuck in the 90s and has an antiquated view of modern football.

I said that statistics show the majority of goals are scored within three touches of the ball and that the brand of football he is advocating just allows defences to get their shape and keep out opposition players.

Petrovski was reacting to criticism by former Australia player, now SBS-TV football analyst Craig Foster, who declared that last Sunday night's preliminary final between Newcastle Jets and Queensland Roar would have been a more worthy season decider.

So, basically, what he is saying is... he would rather see 3 dubious penalties, an open goal after Reddy palmed a ball away and a goal scored off a miss-kick (look carefully and you will notice there was a bobble and he miss-kicked)...followed by a heap of missed one on ones and sitters by Queensland and plenty of long balls and pointless passing around the back-line by Newcastle.

Ok then dude... what ever tickles your fancy.

While I want Lawrie to win Manager of the Year, I'm feeling GVE will get the nod.

Not because Lawrie is the lesser coach, but rather because I think GVE has done it tougher than Lawrie this year.

He's had the Lardarse debacle, and anyone that has to deal with Con 'Casino' Constantine has to have major ticks in his favour.

I'd like to compare dollars spent on each squad. And I mean total spent, so including Aloisi. I suspect we've spent more, but that's pure speculation on my part.

Not that it means much. If we spent more, and wisely, some of the credit should go to Lawrie for some smart recruitment work.

For the rest it's too close to split. There was only goal difference in it for the Premiership, and a 3-2 aggregate score for the Finals. They had major luck in their home Finals game agains us, but we did too in ours.

Toss a coin. Both very good managers(coaches). A decisive Grand Final performance will decide this question I think.

I just hope no one is swayed by the utter bullshit coming from Foster. Since he's been saying that, I take heart in the number of other coaches and players who've come out and argued against his views.

Foster is a twat.

He makes little sense when he speaks and repeats the same useless crap over and over and f**kin over!  A small minded, droning, nobody.
Only a very average player in his day and a Z grade "expert" now.
He's still bitter at the world because of his Portsmouth stint.
