Have not been the same team that won the asian cup in qualifying.

Ange got out coached tonight, they setup a wall to block the passing lanes and hassled our guys who were slow and Trent had a shocker almost lost the ball a few times.

Nice goals but the rest of the display was a disaster.

2nd half had better authority but still not very slick.

The boys have been very disappointing all campaign and the Thailand draw looking like it will cost us big time.

Didn't look like a midfield thats bossing the Championship and Ireland.

I am yet to see evidence that Mooy can deliver in a team when his team is not dominating. Even with Huddersfield he and they tanked at the end of the season and were very lucky to get through the playoffs. He looks great in a dominant team, poor otherwise. I think he will struggle in the EPL whoever he plays for and as a consequence will play little next year.

McGowan again looked poor, though he did have a reasonable excuse this time. In fact back three were all poor tonight. A lot of work to do to get to Russia next year and even more to perform reasonably.

the problem seems to lay with playing mooy and rogic together .

Can someone explain how Sainsbury, whose played 20 mins in 4 months and Robbie Cruse, who doesn't even have a club get picked at this stage of the Quals or anytime for that matter...matter of fact all the backs were a tad terrible...and Mooy was his usual crap self

McGowan (56 hours of travel from China) and Sainsbury (no football) were terrible, both looked lost with the back three set up and off the pace. I've never been a huge fan of Juric but he was gifted three perfect opportunities and put two of them away so for once I was content with his performance. We missed Milligan massively in defence and I've had a feeling that Jedi is coming to his end and he was also pretty poor last night. Irvine and Rogic struggled as they play the same style so don't complement each other. They looked heaps better in the second half as they started to gel, Mooy's pass to Rogic for his spectacular goal was quality and we need to give these guys more game time together. That being said we were lucky and need to improve which should be expected over the next three weeks or we will be cannon fodder in the Confed Cup. The friendly against Brazil next Tuesday could be embarrassing if Ange doesn't fix the back line, that's not what we need going into the Confed Cup.

Because Ange is full of crap.

The you don't play regularly speech just makes him look stupid.

Kruse was ok last night but after past performances and no club should be no where near the team.

Trent was woeful last night. He desperately needs playing time.

Smith is the same, he is fast and hits one or two great crosses a game but can't defend.

Bahich showed what a person who is actually playing looks like

Jedi passing is terrible isn't it. Good in the air but really wasteful. For a bloke who played PL and supposedly bosses the championship he sucks for Australia

Sainsbury never looked much good......except when Pat Z. was standing next to him to be fair.....harsh maybe but probable

When he starts playing again and they get Spiravonic back then maybe they can play 3 at the back

Sainsbury has not played enough in last couple of years.
Injured in Holland then China lost position and now bench warmer in Serie A. Awesome player but needs some decent playing time

Just wondering which part you disagreed with TB?

I don't think 6-0 is out of the question tonight based upon the recent examples of form from both teams. Now if that happens does Postecoglu and his arrogance project get shelved?

Totally agree, the team does not need a humiliating loss just before the confed cup.

No because it will be the media's fault.
They are getting frustrated at the media, first sign of tention getting to them.
Trent had a whinge now Ange.

They think playing good for one half and winning is good enough.

Ange had the team playing beautifully in the Asian cup and last world cup but has abandoned that formation and style.

He wants discussion then whinges when that discussion is not favourable.

Couple of fox sports articles coming out questioning his comments to.

Caltex Socceroos to face Thailand in Melbourne

Get a view of stunning Melbourne from the sky ahead of Australia's clash with Thailand in September.
Saturday, 15 July 2017 -
Staff Writer
Football Federation Australia (FFA) today (Sat) confirmed that the Caltex Socceroos will play their final 2018 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifier Group B match against Thailand at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium (AAMI Park) on Tuesday 5 September 2017.

Tickets for the crucial clash go on pre-sale to the Football Family with a 10% discount from 9am (AEST) on Tuesday 18 July with general public on-sale from 12pm (AEST) Monday 24 July.

FFA Chief Executive Officer David Gallop is expecting a large vocal home crowd to cheer the Caltex Socceroos on towards the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

“It’s definitely crunch time in the qualification campaign and this match against Thailand will be pivotal,” said Gallop.

“Everyone remembers where they were when we defeated Uruguay in 2005. This match could very well be one of those ‘where were you” moments.

“Ange and his team have been preparing for this moment for the past two and a half years and we encourage all sports fans to support the boys as they look to secure direct qualification to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.”

Mr Gallop thanked the Victorian Government and Visit Victoria for their support of this crucial match.

“Of course events like this are not possible without the partnership of the Victorian Government and I thank them for the support they give to football and their valuable assistance to bring this crucial match to Melbourne,” said Gallop.

The Victorian Minister for Sport, The Hon John Eren MP, was equally excited about the Caltex Socceroos returning to Melbourne.

“Our World Cup dream is up for grabs – and there’s no better place than Melbourne for our Socceroos to book their spot to Russia,” said Minister Eren.

“With the best pitch in the country and the most passionate fans, Victorians will do all they can to help our boys seal automatic qualification in September.”

Caltex Socceroos Head Coach Ange Postecoglou was looking forward to closing out the campaign in his hometown.

“The next two matches in this campaign are extremely important for us,” said Postecoglou.

“We are focused on two strong performances beginning with the challenge in Japan.

“A capacity stadium in Melbourne supporting the team will be fantastic.”

Apperently the FFA Sold the game to the highest bidder after the failure of the Saudi Arabia and Brazil games.

If we don't perform in Japan it could be a dead rubber. Also UAE need to be proud against the Saudi's.
