Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners Squad - HAL 14 - 2018- 2019 - The challenge for Mike Mulvey is over

He did more for the F3 derby in one game than any mariners player has in the last 5 years, and I'm including Matty in that.

It was a truly immense performance. Unbelievable captains display.

Staj is in no position to sign anyone. But if management can’t see Jem’s a player we need to rebuild with and sign him and Tom on a 3 year deal, then I give up.

Agreed, won't be long before other clubs start to notice as well.

If Sydney manage to sign Jem I'll be truly gutted, I think we're a good chance of keeping Tom now too.

I’m never one to say I told you so.
But I’m very happy everyone can see how immensely good Jem is.

Understandably Staj probably isn’t going to have input on re-signings etc.
BUT if his job as the caretaker is to stabilise the team and give hope for next season, surely you’d take his advice on players currently here.

I still think Staj will be our permanent bloke.

I still think Staj is very likely to be around next year and last night only made it more likely. He’s got almost half the points Mulvey took 21 rounds to get.

I understand that Arthur Papas was a possibility when we signed Mulvey. He would be a contender but has just signed on as Ange's assistant in Japan. I suspect he will be on more than we could offer him.
Happy to keep Stajcic.

Just re watching the match now, 10th minute in,
Simon Hill: Jonathan Aspro will be with the new Western United next season

Um what?

It’s been a rumour for a little while now. Not clear if it’s definitely a done deal or not but I wouldn’t be surprised.

That's the rumour. I noticed he said that too.
But when he said nearly the same thing about Georgievski it was only speculation.
First half Mallon shoved off the ball. Outmuscled apparently. Injury time the thug was outmuscled but an obvious penalty.
Really they should have had a disclaimer regarding the commentary.

Aspro has been repeatedly linked to WU. I suspect it's a done deal but after the Millar incident clubs won't be saying a thing until the season is over.

I've been a Muzza fan all along and think he is a no brainer for extending.

Pain, Jem, Hiariej if we can keep them are definites. I would have added Millar to that list, but...

Aspro probably too but expect it's too late.
Aiden as well but am also pretty certain he'll go back to UK.

He has already said he's looking forward to being back playing in the UK next season, so I guess we will only have a chance if Burnley don't want him.

Or simply pointed out the average age of the squad today was a touch under 23 with an 18 yo English CB Graham, an 18 yo keeper Gauci, 3 19 tear olds in Nisbet, Kekeris and Millar, 2 20 year olds in Mallon and Shabow ,2 22 year olds in Miller and Aspro and 2 23yo in Melling and Murray.

Everyone complains that young players don't get a go in the HAL but we had 11 of the 16 23 or younger today.

Everyone also complains about NPL players not getting a look in. Murray, Millar and Gauci all played NPL last season.

Pisses me off. Lazy hateful journalism. Can’t they focus on the other hundred legitimate criticisms instead?

Really makes me miss Mike Cockerill he would have been the one to call this hypocrisy out.

Rumours floatin around on social media that millars pulled out of his contract with the scummers. There has been chatter bout it today in newy too.
Wouldn't that be interesting.
He looked super pumped after the derby win and played very well. I think it will be hard for him to go up there, especially now that Mulvey is gone. I heard the vibe at training is a lot better now.

Interesting. To go to WU maybe? After the abuse he copped here I can't see him staying, although I'd love it if he did

He was loving it after the game, was celebrating madly like the rest of them with the fans

I have my doubts bit I'd love it if it turned out that he was staying, if nothing else then because it might be a sign that they're felling like that Cinderella story could be in the cards for next year and they wanna be a part of it.
It's a lot to change after only one game though.
