Very disappointing to hear that we rescinded an offer for a two year contract, what more did he have to do? He was a shining light at the end of last season and has stepped into a very talented City line up and has not looked out of place. Surely his value to on sell alone was worth a two year contract? We have given far less talented players contracts for the same if not longer, who did not come up through our academy. We should be championing our youth players and giving them long term deals, not taking advantage of them at every opportunity.
I was talking to a current first team member a few weeks ago. He told me that he also had a two year contract on the table during the season but the club pulled it only to offer a reduced one year contract. Maybe the club knew they were going to punt Okon and didn't want to sign multiple players to long term contracts?

I get that, but if that's what they're gonna do, they need to also accept that that approach comes with an increased yearly cost because we're removing the security aspect of the contract.

I worked as a contractor for years and, apart from the holiday/sick -pay, the added premium on my pay was most definitely also about the employer having the ability to terminate my contract on short notice... Job security matters to everyone and the players shouldn't have to pay the price for potential lack of organisation on the club's behalf.

The other sidw of the coin. When you get offered the 2 yr contract. Um sign it.

While offers were pulled they could of been signed when offered.

Can be a deadly game either trying to negotiate a better offer or trying to get an offer elsewhere in the mean time.

Harsh but tough reality as well

While the contracts were probably pulled to give Mulvey a chance to have a look and not be locked into McGing type contracts we still should of done better with Wales. Don’t treat your own as disposable like that.

I'm really excited about tonight. I have absolutely no idea what to expect - our on-field performance, I suspect, isn't yet close to what it's going to become.
So what are we going to deliver tonight? Can you imagine what we're capable of if Simon, McCormack and our attacking mids get their shit sorted and start linking up properly?

I worry about FornaRollingAround if our midfield's can't stop their attack from reaching out box all game again.
And because he WILL dive.
And I don't have any hopes for VAR - any contact, the VAR isn't going to say it's a dive (but MIGHT still say it's not a foul).

We had the legendary Chandice Phelan in for a massage on Friday (The Goldon Boot winner in the NPL2 with 44 goals in 21 games!). Hopefully we can help get her back into full fitness. Delightful young lady but she is tipping an upset victory to the Mariners today.

I'm quietly confident as well.

2.1 to the yellows.

The boys should be raring to go, all i’m hoping for today is: the same if not more commitment and desperation defensively as last week, keep the ball and penetrate. And get stuck in to their pretty boys.

Ross to get atleast 1, O’Neil to start and dominate. Murray the Smokey off the bench to grab a late poached goal would be beautiful. And give us high energy no excuse football for the 90+ minutes.

After reviewing and matching lineups for today I wonder how long Wales will hold his starting spot. They have a lot of talent sitting on the bench and although I would love for him to hold on I can’t see him holding out for long :-|

If you make it hard for City they will crumble, they all (barring Lachie), think they are better than the league. If they have to fight for every ball then I can see us running over the top of them.

Lachy’s ‘two year deal’ had the second year only triggered by meeting certain targets, the main one of which was playing a minimum number of games. As he had no guarantees that the second year would happen (injury, face not fitting with the new coach etc) the straightforward two-year deal with $ity was a no-brainer for him.

As others have said, if the club is not prepared to show faith in its academy products and the local story that underpins, then they are missing a big trick.

Sad as I think it is that Lachy is playing for City and not for his home club the situation is understandable from both the club and Lachy's point of view. Okon, who had given him his chance left Mar 20. MMM .as appointed mid April.

Lachy had to make the right decision for him - not knowing how he would figure in Mulvey's plans. I certainly won't be booing him. From the club's point of view MMM was newly appointed and reviewing a whole heap of players. While Lachy wanted to lock in his future the club were going through a massive squad change. TBH, if he had stuck around, I think MMM could have done wonders for him (as will Joyce I think).

Anyway I hope he has a great season and stars for City, just with horrible games against us!!

I will not be booing him either. The only ex player this year I no longer feel for is DDS and he is still our player! I was looking forward to seeing how Trent went this year before the injury which is a shame for him. I like that I don't have to watch DDS against us this year, wish Wales the best today but not too much and would be happy for a rating of 6/10 from him today so he hopefully keeps his spot.

I wonder if the club is going to text the line up before the match again like last year at the home games?
