Sydney had the same concerns last year although their starting 11 was class. Scratch the surface and there was nothing underneath except one Clarky in a superman outfit
Exactly why they did. GA admitted so
They knew Clarke has superpowers so they could front load $$ to their first xi. Worked till GA broke their puny hearts.

Anyone know how to insert a chart would make this much easier and readable. Essentially Name, Age & Estimated Salary, change at will but to me we have some coin left assuming we spend the 2.635 and we still don't claim the Roma part as our payment.

PS obviously only guessing on salaries, so copy and change the list to suit what you think.

Name
Keepers
Kennedy ======== 31 === 100
Pearce ========= 21 === 62
Gauci ========== 18 === 42
Backs

If we were trying to sign Ibini I would think the offer would be for around 250-300k. What other potential targets would there be? Considering the signing would more than likely have to be a non visa player

I've bumped quite a few of these salaries and have us pretty much at the floor of the salary cap now, may explain why we are only going after NPL players especially with O'Neil included in the list. Mulvey has probably been advised it is the cap floor unless good value opportunities arise like Ibini when he would approve going over the floor and perhaps he has the same deal as Okon that in January depending on injuries and how the season is progressing he can make a purchase or two. I just don't see us having $500k to play with to reach the floor at this point in time.

In the backs I have them all on more than what is listed, no way Aspro is on minimums. Mids; I would have Berry, Melling, WeeMac and Pain all on more. Forwards; Gameiro, Matty and Hoole all on more. That pretty much spends the spare $500k. Like it or not players that have been around a while and played HAL will be on more than minimums and we also have probably had to give them an incentive to come to the Spooners.

I for one am not of the view we have $500k still to spend and waiting for a big announcement any time soon.

We hopefully confirm O'Neil and then there is Millar and that will pretty much be it for the start of the season.

I still think we have a bit after Miller and O'Neill (depending on how much we pay for that). - say $200-350k. That is also taking into account an expected increase in the caap and therefore the floor. I expect one more

It's a weak squad overall. MMM has a lot to do. If he can get them firing they're a chance. But on average I think we'll be lucky to make the 6.
Another spoon is a possibility, but hopefully less of a possibility than previously.

The fact that I don't think we'll make the 6 with this squad and that the spoon is a possibility is a disappointing turnaround from the way the last season ended. As I said if the team fires and MMM gets the mongrel into them we probably won't get the spoon. But that's is hardly a lofty goal.
I think this season will be more fun to follow overall. We should fight out a few more wins. Still not going to be a big step forward though with a squad that is arguably weaker than it was

With the way some of the other squad's have recruited we are no chance of the 6. Zip. Zilch. Zero.
Even a few great signings now will not change that. Darren Bent won't change it. God himself wouldn't change it.
As for the spoon look at the squad's and someone tell me who's the favourite for it other than us. You'd be kidding yourself if you thought another team was going to collect less points than us.

I`m backing Wellington especially if we could get God to play as a No.10 & maybe too if his son
plays at right back. (I heard he`s good in the wet) ... :popcorn:

I think they both would qualify as mature age rookies so wouldn`t be included under the cap.
Not sure on God but Jesus may take a visa spot...

The problem for me is ............... all the if’s that are required to offset the lack of quality required in the league to be competitive.

The problem is all the if’s ...... will also be being addressed by all the coaches to bring out the same in their teams............. and with their better quality squads.

I look at the quality of the coaches not hobbled by cash and I think the mountain for mm will be too high. I know I know ...........
