also how pleased must McGlinchey be being singled out for praise by Lippi. flip side is he's aware of Weemac for next game now.
I think he complimented Arnie personally at the end of the match as well. at the handshake straight after the final whistle Arnie was looking serious, then Lippi was tapping him on the chest and shaking his hand whilst saying something and Arnie's face smiled and he walked off clearly happy

What an awesome game. Well done boys - Gave it a real crack.
Why the F__K are Asians so soft - Or was that deliberate attempt to con the ref. In the first tackle of the fame the Chinese girl was jumping in the air like his mate gave him a chinese burn & then almost rolled to Terigal yet the tackle was lucky if it even got him. It was a warning Asian players are sooks crooks & doody as hell. Even trying to stop the start of the game because the dickhead put his socks on wrong come on.
Man just give us someone who can score off limited chances like they do & we'd be unstoppable. McBreen may have won the Golden Boot this year but in reality if he had scored on 1/2 the chances he's had he'd have scored 40.
They were awesome in the attacking 3rd.
Our boys looked like they gave everything in the 1st half & some times when u are up against it u give to much & run out of puff. Think this happened - The on slort early in the 2nd half didn't help but we held it together.
WeeMac was absolutely stuffed in the 2nd half he'd given everything he had & there was still 20 to go. Some of his passes started to miss but in credit the 5 RB was very very good in getting forward & covering WeeMac.
If only that last shot of ours rolled out of the keepers legs & in instead staying at his feet.
Anderson looked unsure on the ball at the back - I think due to not playing enough this year & the step in quality opposition cutting down our time made him panic. Didn't look good - Needs more game time in A league before he can take on the chinese team + South America.
Ryan was awesome - Really could have been 4 or 5 they scored.
How good was that scissor kick - Even I got up & cheered that - The shot & the save were both great.
Agree with the bloke a couple rows back Arnie they needed fresh legs earlier.
Anyway great night little disappointed but bloody proud.
As for my chips they were as cold as me before I even got to my seat - Got real chilly in the 2nd half - Hutcho was trying to keep warm after the game during his interview & he just ran for 90mins.

You're on this again, and you're wrong again.
We're not just a top-6 side, we're the top side. We're the best team in Australia and we got turned over at home. If the AFC were shit we'd be waltzing to the trophy.
Disappointed we lost but you know when you have been watching an enthralling game when you look at the scoreboard and see there was only 3 minutes to half time. Felt like I had just sat down And again in the second half I checked the scoreboard and there was 5 minutes remaining! Where did the time go? It was a good game with some really good play from both sides. No-one sat back playing for 1 point. We dug deep when they began to tighten the screws in the second half we survived. The intensity lifted and although we nearly matched it it also highlighted the advantages of playing at that level week in and week out. Their finishing for the goals was clinical. The gilt edged chances that fell our way in the second half should have been taken. Instead it highlighted the difference between clinical finishers with finesse and the lack of finishing when under some pressure. I enjoyed the game and think it was one of the better games of the year. Tough return leg coming up. They will have a weekend game we will have a week to recover. 2-1 at half time lets hope the second half adjustments will be as clinical as our finishing needs to be and we come away with an aggregated 3-2 victory in front of their home crowd.

Interesting turn of events in the second half though, there was a good 20 minute period where I have not seen the Mariners cages get quite that rattled in a long time. It really showed in about half the palyers on the pitch. Poor positioning, passing and general breakdown of structure.
Regardless I loved it, what an experience for the team, that was a higher level of football and we matched it with them for most of the game and even dominated large periods. Let this be the building blocks for a better team next year.
Kudos to the crowd, the Capo and his mega (this can really work next season guys, keep it up please) the guys in SFC and WSW jerseys down in front of me getting right behind our team and my wife for starting chants in bay 7 on numerous occasions.

yep...it was great to see so many fans from other A-League teams there, cheering us on. I took 4 Sydney fans who all really enjoyed it and were as disappointed as I was at the end result.
They piped up in the 2nd half when the play was all down there end. But that's what you get when you bus in ring in's (allegedly). No Actual leader of chanting etc.
They were really more noisy through being next to each other in a bunch.

Watch the replay, count the number of times their keeper spilled the ball, count the number of times we had no one following the shot in.

Add a Berisha or a Smeltz to our team and we wouldn't have lost a game all year. Either of them would have got 25 plus goals.
I always chuckle at the Asian teams are soft, divers,cheats,girls etc.
They aren't, that's how more advanced teams play. Our league is young and we are not experienced enough.
We are getting better but still innocents abroad.
