Round 1 2018/19 v Brisbane Roar

Pain took his goal well, but then returned to the Pain of last season. Which was frustrating thinking back. Makes Murray that much closer to starting next week.
I’d say Oar will be safe for this week, Hingert had a cracker and gave tommy o no time, annoyingly. But Tommy O has enough experience and know how these days to remedy that going forward.
Imperative that O’Neil replaces Mikey next to Tom H.
The issue i see at DM we need a beast .
Tommy and weemac aren't

Pain did enough for mine and hinget made life difficault for oar .
Weemac is the odd man out
Wee Mac was the only one in that group being asked to play out of his natural position, so the criticism of him is a little unfair imo.

Oar was rusty but will surely get better with more game time, as will Big Mac. Simon did what he was there to do and Pain reverted to type after about 30 mins, when he really needed to lay down a marker if he is looking to nail down a starting spot.

I think IMO from being at the game snagged that goal so early messed with our heads. Mostly I thought Simon and Cisse were the only players who were consistent all match. Everyone else kind of came in and out after about 20 mins.
We were exceedingly lucky to get a draw but it's a draw we wouldnt have got in the last few years.
On side note sitting in the stands I couldn't believe the physical size difference of Big Mac and O'Neill compared to most of the other players. Not necessarily dirty bulk but certainly broader.

Agreed...also last year Taggarts radar would of been on and he gets 6 against us on his own

Reckon we should have gone down Pain's side more, Oar had an off game and Pain would have been buzzing about his goal. Early balls long to Pain could be a great asset for us this season.

Yeah nah DM area is the least of our worries along with our wing depth.
Tommy H is the aforementioned beast we need. And when O’Neil is paired with him it’s up there with the best midfield pairing in the comp. And O’Neil slotted in at 10 seemlessly on Sunday so you could even have Melling (who is a good back up) next to tommy and make him keep things very very simple.
I would not be one bit surprised if O’Neil wins young player of the year and a Socceroo cap or 2.
The kid has everything.

I agree we should’ve been more dynamic, but we should’ve also kept the ball a lot better.
Pain didn’t necessarily make any major errors, he started fantastically, he just went missing again. He needs to stay constantly involved. I’m sure the boys weren’t purposely avoiding his side.

Would have lost 6-1 against a competent team.
MM needs to sort out our midfield - our defence is still way too leaky to keep facing the ball, felt like most of the game was spent in our own PA - our mids need to stop the ball getting to the backs.

Showed good potential, our attack should click in time. Really like this Matt Simon, showing a lot of maturity, lot of mongrel, what I like to see and what we need from the captain. A few unnecessary cards which will hurt us later in the season, I'm sure. McCormack was disappointing.

Golec, I said last season that he does a lot of good but is prone to watching seagulles at important moments and lets in a lot of goals that way. Nothing had changed.

Clisby did well (except for stopping to raise his arm instead of putting in the desperate tackle).

Overall I'm happy enough, but Taggart flattered us.
I`m glad Golec wasn`t watching seagulls in this game...he saved our arse 5-6 times...

Wouldn't have thought so He got caught ball watching at critical moments too but that's always been a big problem of his. Their goal was 100% Golec's fault, standing back and watching - why was Taggart allowed to receive the ball on the penalty spot with no pressure?

Golec was positioned well, (goal side of Taggart).
The fact is, the player mishit his shot and the ball went straight to Taggart.
To hold Golec responsible for that is very harsh...

Why are you repeating yourself Offy?
What is Storm's contract worth?

He will be found out at Victory.....until they wake up we can all enjoy them losing and drawing alot.
Keep feeding those Unicorns sugarlumps wont you.

Repeating myself ??? .......... I don’t repeat myself . I don’t take myself seriously enough to know if I was repeating myself ???

I’ll have to take your question on “Storm’s contract worth” on notice and get back to you. It was a simple assumption I made that if he was chosen in his specialist position for the current a-league champions after three months of pre season maybe .......... just maybe .............. he is not as crap as WE all would like him to be :naughty:. While on Storm ........... I find it interesting that people liked him for years until he left and all of a sudden his ability is questionable........... people must be rouxing the day he left :vhappy::vhappy::vhappy:.

And ......... it seems you also need educating in things “unicorn”, there is a theory that unicorns may have died out from diabetes. Sugar lumps are not part of his diet and I have restricted his chocolates also. He got loose last week and I found him in the aldi confectionary aisle. I am worried that he has been urinating a lot since ????. Now I’m taking the piss :vhappy::vhappy::vhappy:.

Cheers

I have NEVER rated Roux defensively....but he was good getting forward.

That's your problem. He is a poor defender and he is not good enough to play on the wing.

BUT if anyone can teach/ force him to defend its Musc**t.

I saw plenty of doubters about Roux, particularly in more recent years. Granted he had that awful injury in Melbourne a couple of years back but he doesn't seem to have changed much going down to Victory, albeit only after one genuine game.

He was a victim of poor coaches when he needed it most and the injury really effected him as it would. Arnie left right when Storm needed him for development

Agree Muscat will get it out of him if anyone can.

And being wanted by muscrap is not the sort of endorsment that makes careers .
But one man’s junk is another man’s treasure ......... as they say........... there is no accounting for taste.
For example ......... they say that the people in Dubai don’t like Fred Flintstone ???? .......... but the people in Abu Darbi do :vhappy::vhappy::vhappy:.
