We should be letting everyone have a go at Pluim at Tuesday with the possible exception of Storm. We need to start getting some game time back into legs.
Looking further ahead to the cup clash (and with the benefit of a crystal ball) I think as FP said a pragmatic view needs to be taken - but it should not mean that we can't put out a competitive team. I don't think we necessarily have to put out a lot of our older players (at least as starters). However, to start building some defensive cohesion I would be keen though to start Crazy Ivan, Faty, Poso, Josh and Monty to start getting a stable back 5 or 6 together. At this stage I would prefer Josh over Micky because we are light on experience at RB and I would be happier to have the other side covered by experience.
Roux will be coming back from injury and Fabio didn't end the season in great shape after receiving a battering. I also wouldn't necessarily use Roy or Tavares, both of whom are professionals and would now how to manage their bodies to be right at the beginning of the season.

Adleson did his acl less then 12 months ago I would be surprised if he would be back to playing competitive games at this stage. Powell I do not believe has attended a training session a big ask if he was to play Tuesday.

FFA Cup success has extra meaning for McBreen:
Edgeworth Eagles are close to the heart of his family’s history, so it will be much more than just another win if former A-League leading goal-scorer Daniel McBreen can help steer them to victory in their FFA Cup round of 32 match on Wednesday night.
The team from the Northern NSW NPL will meet Queensland NPL side FNQ Heat at Barlow Park in Cairns and the game represents a return to the national stage for 39-year-old striker McBreen, who came back to Australia this year after several seasons of playing in Asia.
The well-travelled McBreen played for three clubs in the A-League, but enjoyed easily his best days with Central Coast Mariners. He was in their championship-winning side of the 2012-13 season.
McBreen scored two goals in the finals series, including one in the 2-0 grand final win over Western Sydney Wanderers, to go with the 17 regular-season goals he put away to be the competition’s top marksman that season.
But now it is about enjoying a return stint with his old junior club in the twilight of his playing career, while at the same time he prepares for a likely post-playing career in coaching. He has already headed in that direction by adopting a busy schedule coaching juniors.
McBreen explained how his English parents, Jim and Kathy, only moved the family to Australia after his footballing father received an offer to play for Edgeworth.
“Edgeworth was the reason we came to Australia, so it is a special club to me,” McBreen said. “The people from the club came over to England and scouted my dad and three of his mates to play for them and brought us to Australia.
“And, you know, for me and my family it was probably the best thing ever for us, getting to move to Australia, near the beach, with the lifestyle out here.
“We never looked back and Edgeworth ended up being my first junior club. I went back there and played a bit of seniors as well before I went professional, and if I was going to play again after coming back from Asia last year it was always going to be back at Edgeworth.
“That was a no-brainer for me.”
McBreen is naturally excited about this FFA Cup chance, not only for himself but because it is a great opportunity for the young players at Edgeworth to experience both the joy and the pressure of a big game on the road.
“Yeah, look, it’s great,” he said. “When I signed with Edgeworth the manager said to me one of the priorities was to make the 32 again in the cup and hopefully we can now go on to the 16.
“I think it’s good we’ve also got an away tour for the boys, because a lot of the guys don’t get to experience an away trip in a team and it gives them a bit of an insight into what happens.
“We’ve got a very young team and if they go forward and progress into professional ranks this is what they can look forward to. You get to go to different places and hang out together and the bonding you get in those times is really good.
“Not to mention the game as well, of course. It’s a great opportunity for the guys to be on the national stage and that’s the reason you want to play, to compete at as high a level as you can.”
McBreen said it would be a blast for everyone involved at the club if Edgeworth could advance and then draw an A-League opponent in the next round.
“Yeah, for sure. Even when you’re getting old like me you still want to test yourself against the best and I know the boys really enjoyed their game last year against Melbourne City in the round of 32,” he said.
“I was at that game and I thought Edgeworth were tremendous. They led 1-0 and for a large portion of the game I thought they were the better team, but Aaron Mooy stepped up and smashed in two free kicks, as he does.
“It left the boys a bit gutted because the winner was virtually the last kick of the game, but they really loved the experience.
“Some of the boys still talk about that at training and they’re the things that as players you want to do, so it’s good for the guys to do it at such a young age and see what you can aspire to get to.
“It gives them a bit more motivation for this game as well.”

Business is booming but Bosnar still dreams of FFA Cup glory:
After more than 15 years travelling the world as a professional footballer, it would have made sense for Eddy Bosnar to enjoy a slice of the quiet life.
Instead, the only slice you’ll see Bosnar near is a serving of burek from his new business venture - a specialist Croatian bakery in Wetherill Park, in the heart of western Sydney.
Bosnar, along with his brothers Ivan, Milan and Marko, has taken the plunge and opened the nation's first franchise of Mlinar (derived from the Croatian word for “windmill”), which has over 300 stores in Europe.
Since throwing open their doors just a few months ago, the store has such a runaway success that they’ve struggling to keep up with demand - and are already contemplating regional expansion into Asia and New Zealand.
“I’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by it. Our business forecasts were for about a third of what we’ve actually turned over,” Bosnar told The World Game. “I always believed in the project - it took about three years of planning, well before I finished playing - but I had no idea it would be as popular as it has been. We’ve had to get extra stock flown in just for us.”
And if the Halal Snack Pack is the dish that’s taken Australian by storm, Bosnar reckons the famous most pastry staple of Eastern Europe may soon be the next craze.
“I have no doubt we already do more burek than anyone else in Australia.” he said. “And I have no doubt that our location has a lot to do with our success. This is the heart of the Eastern European community and we get everyone coming - not just Croatians, but Macedonians, Bosnians and Serbs, plus Lebanese and Assyrians. Everyone, really.”
The Bosnar family had already made a name for themselves for several years through Croatian Food & Wine, which imported delicacies from the Adriatic - the highlight of which might just be the most expensive cheese in town.
“It’s called Paški sir and there’s only a few places in Sydney you can get it. It’s $150 per kilo - but you have to wait six months before you can actually eat it,” Bosnar warns. “It comes from the island of Pag, and, in Sydney, you’ll only find it being used by the very best chefs in the top restaurants.”
So successful have his business ventures been that he’s already on the board of the Australian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce - not bad for somebody who was still a full-time footballer six months ago.
But while the 36-year old is done at A-League level, having most recently played with the Central Coast Mariners, he wants to have one last tilt at big time glory with his beloved Sydney United.
They’re in the final 32 of the FFA Cup and will face Blacktown City in what promises to be a vintage western Sydney derby in Seven Hills on Wednesday night.
“Behind the A-League, the FFA Cup is the single best thing that has happened to football in this country,” Bosnar said. “Everyone at Sydney United is looking forward to this game and it means a lot to everyone who is involved. We’re taking it very seriously.
“The opportunity to play on the big stage doesn’t come around that often but teams like United and Blacktown both really want to be up there.”
United are under the tutelage of Mark Rudan, who has now served a lengthy tenure in charge of the former NSL champions and is widely expected to make a big impression when steps up to the A-League.
Bosnar can’t speak highly enough for the ex-Sydney FC captain, even if he admits he was a little nervous at first at how strict his brother-in-law would be.
“It’s surprising - he’s not as intense as he is on the TV! He’s actually a very calm, methodical coach and great to play for. The young boys learn so much from him,” Bosnar said. “It’s fantastic that he and I are both able to give something back to the club we grew up with and hold very dearly. I’ll see if I play on in the coming years but for now I’m certainly enjoying my football again.”
There’s plenty of ex-A-League talent on show on both sides, particularly at United, who boast Chris Payne, Peter Triantis, Robert Mileski, Nikola Taneski, Glen Trifiro, Tomislav Uskok, Thomas Manos, Panny Nikas, Jacob Tratt and Nathan Sherlock in their ranks.
Blacktown have Matty Lewis, Travis Major, Joey Gibbs, Mitchell Mallia, Shayne D’Cunha, Patrick Antelmi and Zach Cairncross, plus the exciting Korean forward Danny Seung-Joo Choi, who could be bound for the A-League when his Australian passport is confirmed this year.
And while Bosnar has done his utmost to maintain his professional ways since stepping down to the second tier, not everything has proven pleasing to his coach.
“I always try to get to training on time - it’s not always possible, but thankfully I’m only five minutes away,” he said. “But the real problem has been that the gaffer wasn’t happy with me bringing any leftover bread and sweets for the boys. He reckons they were getting a bit fat, so he’s put a stop to that.”

FFA Cup Focus: Walmsley wants a ‘cup run’

After the Central Coast Mariners’ last training run before tomorrow night’s Westfield FFA Cup match, Tony Walmsley has spoken about the importance of the fixture and hinted at some potential Mariners’ debutants.
The Mariners will travel to Victoria today in preparation for the Yellow & Navy’s first competitive hit out of the 2016/17 campaign and Walmsley wants to use the Westfield FFA Cup as a way to build excitement through out the pre-season.
“We’re pumped, it’s a long pre-season and we’ve got a lot of pre-season games but to be in a cup competition where it counts and we can test the players mentally and physically is great,” Walmsley said. “The whole squad is buzzing at the moment because the season starts tomorrow.
“We would love to go on a cup run, there’s no doubt about it. If we win this one the pre-season gains a greater meaning because you’re now preparing for the round of 16 so it’s a very important game for us.
“We’re in a situation where neutrals all over the country in a live broadcast game are going to be rooting for the underdogs, it’s a great test for us and a chance to put in a performance for our Members to be proud of,” Walmsley said.
The Hyundai A-League sides on display in the Westfield FFA Cup are still in the early stages of pre-season and Walmsley admitted that taking his player’s fitness levels into account would be a key consideration.
“It’s going to be tough conditions on a tricky pitch up against a highly motivated and strong NPL side who are just going to be itching for the A-League scalp so there’s no doubt in our minds that the challenge is a formidable one but we’ve prepped well,” Walmsley said.
“We are early in pre-season, we’ve had to be very mindful who can and can’t go the distance and we’ve ticked all the boxes we need to going into this game so the main emotion running through me at the moment is excitement.
“For the guys who went through what they went through last season, to celebrate a win tomorrow night will be something to behold and I hope we can give the fans and the players that,” Walmsley said.
Walmsley added six new recruits to his side during the off-season and hinted that there may be some debutants within the ranks heading into Tuesday night’s hit out at Green Gully Reserve.
“Jacques & Mickael have put themselves in contention, Ivan [Necevski] is an experienced keeper and this is his opportunity to make his mark on the Mariners early,” Walmsley said. “This is a great opportunity to expose him to life at the Mariners in a competitive environment,” Walmsley said.

After the Central Coast Mariners’ last training run before tomorrow night’s Westfield FFA Cup match, Tony Walmsley has spoken about the importance of the fixture and hinted at some potential Mariners’ debutants.
The Mariners will travel to Victoria today in preparation for the Yellow & Navy’s first competitive hit out of the 2016/17 campaign and Walmsley wants to use the Westfield FFA Cup as a way to build excitement through out the pre-season.
“We’re pumped, it’s a long pre-season and we’ve got a lot of pre-season games but to be in a cup competition where it counts and we can test the players mentally and physically is great,” Walmsley said. “The whole squad is buzzing at the moment because the season starts tomorrow.
“We would love to go on a cup run, there’s no doubt about it. If we win this one the pre-season gains a greater meaning because you’re now preparing for the round of 16 so it’s a very important game for us.
“We’re in a situation where neutrals all over the country in a live broadcast game are going to be rooting for the underdogs, it’s a great test for us and a chance to put in a performance for our Members to be proud of,” Walmsley said.
The Hyundai A-League sides on display in the Westfield FFA Cup are still in the early stages of pre-season and Walmsley admitted that taking his player’s fitness levels into account would be a key consideration.
“It’s going to be tough conditions on a tricky pitch up against a highly motivated and strong NPL side who are just going to be itching for the A-League scalp so there’s no doubt in our minds that the challenge is a formidable one but we’ve prepped well,” Walmsley said.
“We are early in pre-season, we’ve had to be very mindful who can and can’t go the distance and we’ve ticked all the boxes we need to going into this game so the main emotion running through me at the moment is excitement.
“For the guys who went through what they went through last season, to celebrate a win tomorrow night will be something to behold and I hope we can give the fans and the players that,” Walmsley said.
Walmsley added six new recruits to his side during the off-season and hinted that there may be some debutants within the ranks heading into Tuesday night’s hit out at Green Gully Reserve.
“Jacques & Mickael have put themselves in contention, Ivan [Necevski] is an experienced keeper and this is his opportunity to make his mark on the Mariners early,” Walmsley said. “This is a great opportunity to expose him to life at the Mariners in a competitive environment,” Walmsley said.
