Tactically we were very very poor.
And that’s on Monty as well unfortunately.

* Parking the bus but leaving both forwards high.
* Coaching players when to pull the trigger so we might even get a deflection or scraps.
* Wide balls that could have been crossed in on the fly but went stale with players literally standing still.
* Other than Miller the younger boys are playing safe probably due to the string of results they are starting to shake and loose confidence.
* If we going to play long balls we need to be structurally prepared to get the scraps and rebounds.
* If we going to play out we need Urena to come next to Boz and have another passing option for triangles and short passes. Then move ball forward as a team.
* Lacking conviction in the plan that Monty has instilled in the 4-4-2 because the team realising they are getting stretched by teams with these instructions.

Only great things as always is our last ditch defending and huddle to keep us in the game.
But as we found out again, that only lasts so long!
Absolutely on pulling the trigger. 3 or 4 occasions where they should have shot. Can't score if you don't try.

Exactly. Unfortunately we don't really have enough specialist wide players in the squad currently. Beni is probably our only option, as I feel even Cy is a more central player. I think he definitely needs to play a more narrow approach, because we have enough fullback depth to run a rotation and make the position more demanding as Farrell and Miller should be the only wide options tactically.

For what it's worth you can still involve Nkololo in that kind of a style but they absolutely need to start thinking about a narrow approach. We cannot play another game trying to push Nizzy wide.
I think we've got enough wide players to not play our best midfielder wide. f**king play Miller on the right wide and Roux at the back so Nisbet can play central

That's very reasonable. I would have thought of Muller as a more than adequate wide midfielder as well come to think of it.

Hopefully Monty learns from this. If he doesn't, then aren't we f**ked...
We were saying this a week ago.

Right now feels uncannily like watching LFC exactly 12 months ago. Went from December, playing great and looking like a legitimate chance at being a contender at the end of the season, to making the same mistakes game after game like they learn nothing. Need Birraz to come up from his goal-line for a corner in injury time and head it in to turn the tide or something...

What was my and some others fear looks like coming thu.... you can't take a youth coach with near zero first team coaching experience and expect he will not be caught out....

To concede three weeks in a row in the last minute highlights something and also means for the rest of the season teams will feel they can score against us late...

To leave a promoted but not strong teenager with less than a handful of games on and take of our most experienced player when subing on some fresh was insane ... not the sub but who went off ... especially when we needed to hold the last what three minutes...

Yeah definitely. Just pointing out that we have the players to not put Nisbet wide. All of Muller, Moresche & Nkololo are better options.

I actually disagree on this. Both Muller and Moresche have shown they are better through the middle. Moresche not a starter. Both had opportunities to play wide and underwhelmed. And Beni is just not this standard unfortunately.

Nizzy is fine where he is and picked up three points from Paramount tonight. Muller and Ollie for holding roles for me.

Alright out yourself Monty which one of us are you.

Ok maybe don’t do that tonight

Tonyik looked ok in the midfield role at breaking up the play.

I like it in theory and it would work if we had another RB that could defend and had an ounce of pace left, wont work with Roux

Their bench won them the game and Monty does not have the same quality bench players so is hesitant to bring players like Ollie off.On Tuesday put Ruon at DM as need his muscle there which Steele and Ballard cannot provide.
Would have said Nisbet, but he'll be too buggered to back up in less than 72 hours after that so I think we should start Mueller there... but, while I've been very reticent on the idea of bringing in Tongyik given he's not a DM and has been in poor form himself... so frustrated I'd be willing to have a look at Tongyik, because we're being killed in central midfield.

And for that matter we have very little penetration out wide, which meant Cummings — who does present and make quality runs despite what some seem to have thought — was being far too easily marked out of the game. Faz and Miller (who continues to be by far our most dangerous wide player :headbutt:) were pinned back holding off Rojas and Folami... Fair enough. But Niz or Cy did not get in behind. Niz lacks the pace of a true winger and the goal scoring ability of a forward... We know that. But he's fantastic at winning, keeping and playing the ball, so put him in central midfield where he f**king belongs Monty. At least Beni's pace and energy causes some headaches. Otherwise use Moresche - who is a better footballer than either of them. I haven't understood the praise of Cy. He's neat on the ball but he;s been owned by every single fullback he's played against. He got zero return against Nigro tonight. For mine, he turns well on the ball and sadly that's about it.

Oh and we MUST start taking Olly off once it's clear he's gassed.

Poppa has done the best job all season of stiffling us. We really get frustrated and turn the ball over the most by quite a bit against this team.

We couldn’t build up and we couldn’t llay counter. Just caught being ordinary
