Lucky we have disowned Sainsbury.

Out coached. Wrong setup. Need width.

I don't think we are very good in the diamond. Time to go back to the Asian cup setup.

Mooy slow and sloppy

Mile sloppy

Mass and tommy no space.

Japanese defence well setup and quick. Swarming

Lucky point, Mooy was his usual anonymous self and Japan ought to have won that if we werent their bogey side

7 years since we've beaten them.
x3 draws
x3 loses.

Game of 2 halves.

Not enough ball speed in the passing in the first half and no width/trying to play through the midle tooo much where the Japanese compressed well.

They played quite a high line at the back and Juric/Giannou didnt help being offside quite a lot to play over the top, dont think either have that speed - would of suited Leckie as a 2nd striker.

McGowan IS NOT the answer at RB.
Ange has tried x7 players now at this position. Can see Geria perhaps making the trip to Thailand or Degenek depending on his injury status ???

Rogic was heavily marked in the central playmaking position and he struggled to put in a good performance with very little space to work in, like many of his team mates - 6/10 to 7/10 by quite a few of them.

2nd half Japan reacted to the equaliser by dropping deep and sitting and played the odd counter when on. Looked better after Kruse and Leckie came on with the width opening up.

Socceroos probed a patient but susceptible 'bus', to no avail for the winner.

Have to go after them when we play them away.

Very little lucky point.

Much better after the formation change, but should of started that way.

Mile said it best when said we got sucked into there game plan with the Sainsbury stuff up

The Socceroos dropped to second in their group with eight points after four matches, the Saudis now lead the group on 10 points after their 3-0 home victory over the United Arab Emirates.

The Socceroos sit one point in front of Japan ahead of next month's trip to last-placed Thailand before their five remaining qualifiers in 2017, with the top two qualifiers in the group securing a ticket to the World Cup.

Iran sits first in Group A on 10 points after a 1-0 win over South Korea, with Uzbekistan trailing by a point after a 2-0 win over China.

We basically need to get to 23 points to guarantee top 2. We should be looking to win every game from now on barring the match away to Japan. The matches here against the Saudis and UAE are absolutely critical, and both Iraq away and Thailand away are potential banana skins.

Don't forget the Saudi's and Japan still have to play each other twice. Three horse race now as UAE falling behind. Seems the same in the other group.

also, the Saudi's don't travel well, with a record of poor results when on the road.

The Caltex Socceroos will face United Arab Emirates in a 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier at the Sydney Football Stadium on Tuesday 28 March 2017.
The game will be the 7th match of the Caltex Socceroos current World Cup Qualifying campaign and is the next 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier to be played in Australia following away matches with Thailand (15 November 2016) and Iraq (23 March 2017).

The Caltex Socceroos defeated Jordan 5-1 in a World Cup Qualifier at the Sydney Football Stadium on 29 March 2016, almost one year to the day before the upcoming match, with 25,000 fans watching the team progress to the current round of qualifying.

“FFA is pleased to announce that through its long term agreement with the NSW Government and Destination NSW, the World Cup Qualifier against UAE will be played at Sydney Football Stadium on 28 March,” said FFA CEO David Gallop.

“The Caltex Socceroos defeated Jordan in front of 25,000 fans at Sydney Football Stadium in March this year and I’m sure the people of Sydney will get behind the team after what was an entertaining match and fantastic performance from Ange’s squad.

"The road to Russia is heating up and this will be a critical match in the campaign. When we play at home in Australia we need to make the most of the opportunity on and off the pitch.”

The match has been supported by the NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, as part of its commitment to bring major events to NSW.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport, Stuart Ayres said: “Sydney brings out the best in the Socceroos, and we can’t wait to see their incredible record of success continue against the UAE on 28 March next year.”

So has Cahill been dumped for good with a secret deal with Ange?

Ange said he wished he'd done it differently with Lucas Neill and now Cahill has been rested when Tomi Juric is injured and a game we have to win.

Why would you not have Tim in the training camp and there to play unless he has been dropped.
How is playing for City of benefit when it's a one of game with no other game for a little while?

Seems fishy to me
