ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Hi Shaun,

If the tv deal is less or disappears all together will we survive? Does the club have a future without the FFA TV deal grant?

If that happens and the money is cut off we wont have a league at all. That's not a CCM problem.
Yes both comments are correct if it was to happen now. Fortunately there is still a further 4 years on the Fox deal to go and that is a very long time in football. With the rapid changing modes of sport viewership trends it is impossible to predict now what the future looks like. If you look at the J-League they left TV broadcast altogether and started their own broadcast via an app called DAZN. This increased their revenues by over 10 times.

But yes without Fox today things would be very tragic.

Hi Shaun,

With the announcement of the FFA Cup round of 32 match days we are less than two months away from our next competitive match. What plans do we have in place for pre-season friendlies before our first all important competitive match? This is especially important considering we have never won an FFA Cup match and lost to semi professional sides twice.

It was extremely disappointing that we did not have a single pre-season match before last year's FFA Cup campaign, our opponents in the match, Adelaide, had in comparison three matches. Will the club be organising and announcing some pre-season friendlies soon?

Hoping to play against Kariong 14B's for a solid warm up JP.........we take the FFA Cup very seriously. We haven't decided wether to play Rush Goalie or Pearce after he did so well against Adelaide last season. We are also trailing Ben Kennedy's kelpie who is apparently cheaper than his owner and is willing to play for good-o's.....something that Mike Charlesworth was annoyed about than Ben wouldn't dive for. Champion the Wonder Kelpie is apparently better on crosses.

Whilst I agree with the rest of your post, this bit isn't quite true - I know it seems like a long time ago but we did actually win 3 FFA Cup matches and made the semis in 2014

How could JP forget Matt Simaldo’s 4 goals in 19min master class against a high quality Palm Beach FC that same year.
Shame JP, shame upon you.

Haha my apologies! Mistakenly thought the FFA Cup started in 2015 instead of 2014. How could I possibly forgot Matt Sim's legendary performance.

I was house sitting during that game and was streaming it to watch. A storm hit in the second half and I lost access to the game. It came back on right near the end - Matt Sim's rapid fire goals made up the bulk of what I missed.
That's it, I'm going to watch highlights to refresh details.

(On that I'm wondering if I should watch the Code again soon to get my fan juices broiling again)

JoyfulPenguin - did you ever watch this?
The Code: Life with the Mariners

I suspect you may have but if not - enjoy!

For anyone who doesn't know it (although I'm sure everyone here does) it's a behind the scenes doco of our grand final winning season.

Just having a flick through it then, geez we had some quality at this time.
Arnie, JC and Clarky on staff, Zwaanswijk, Sainsbury, Maty Ryan, McBreen, Rose, Hutch, Ibini, Rogić, Bozanić, Montgomery, Duke, Sterjovski, Kwassie...
such a good season to make the doco!

I haven't seen that, I'll be sure to watch it! I've only been a Mariner since the 28th of May 2015, or the day O'Donovan signed for us so I missed a fair bit of Mariners history. I did watch the game against Palm Beach though and actually that game contributed to me choosing to support the Mariners after showing that they would put faith in NPL players. I do distinctly remember how bad Palm Beach were, they all seemed overawed.

My son went to Adelaide for the semi. Apparently he was the only person there wearing a Mariners jersey. Was shown some love by the team aty full-time though :)
