Probably the strongest starting 11 we've had all season. Matty Simon not in the rotation at all is very interesting. Anyone have any info about that?

Come on you yellow and blue! :overheadl::shoutclap:
Our strongest starting XI on paper. Unfortunately no so on grass.

They should be ashamed of themselves after that performance. Not as gut wrenching, but as devoid of fire and interest as the last one of last season :-(

Yeah actually missing Melling which is something that one should not have to say out loud.
Way too many slow players, Hoole needs to go, need someone faster in number 10 area to punch forward.
Formation is shithouse, no conviction in the structure at all.
Poor Management, I know Mulvey has a 2 year deal but I think he was just lucky with the Brisbane team he had at the time.
Sam has been better in the second half.
Pain doesn’t quite have the same impact on the right.
But In general just flat as a tac.

I've got an idea. How about we play four at the back.
A proper back four.
Even if they crowd the midfield with five and just play one up front.
Stick the young kid in goal too. Nothing to lose.

I didn’t get to watch tonight but I’ll point out we’ve had 1 goal from open play in 4 games.

Agreed.
You can ONLY play 3 at the back if you have very, very reliable defenders and if your midfield is able to a) slow down play enough to numbers to get back and b) fit enough to get back themselves.

We don't have any of that. 3 defenders is stupid.
Still playing 3 defenders at this point in the season makes Mulvey indistinguishable from Okon.

Except while Okon wanted to Do Plan A Better, Mulvey just thinks he can write Plan A in a different coloured pen each week and we'll follow that.

Got himself a new job by all accounts and may well be l eaving us.
Not sure on timing
Cool. Going to elaborate more on that one, where you've heard it, details, anything like that? Given it hasn't been discussed on here?

Seems that some people on here enjoy having other posters have to drag information out of them :headbutt:

Why did we lose?

Our three central defenders are aged 22, 20 and 18 in apart of the field we you need experience.

We played three DMs in midfield and wondered why we had limited attack.

We continually play without a left fullback or wingback and woodier why our defence is torn apart there.

We played Andrew Hoole.

We played a player who has done the dirty and signed for our fiercest rivals. This I can only imagine has been done to save some face by getting some wins hence saving the managers job.

We continually play a goalie who cannot command his six yard box. F888ing basic.

We play without any structure or formation. What position was Hoole playing? What position was Tommy H. playing. What position was Rowles playing? I watched the game on tv and could not answer these questions.

If Mulvey will not use the time he has left to build for next season, he may as well piss off now.

I am not sure whether we are a joke, a shambles, or an embarrassment, but I suspect all three.

yes we definitely don't have the defenders to make it work. Average age of defence today? 15? *typing while Ancient Mariner was posting.

It really does hark back to Okon days where teams knew how we would play and adjust their plan accordingly.
Same this season. Teams know we'll play three at the back.
It's about time we started having a look at how our opponents play and set up to counteract that.

One thing military do when they've got their defence laid out is to have a look from the outside and say 'how would I attack that?'.

If MM isn't doing that, why not? IT's easy to attack us.

No clean sheet in 27 games proves that defence and keeping is our biggest problem.

I am actually looking forward to watching other A league games instead of our own.
I cannot see the championship quality in
- Karacan
- Oniell

Once again I thought Pain tried hard.
Kennedy- 5
Millar - 5
Aspro - 6
Rowles - 6
Graham-6 (improved in the second half)
Karacan- 5
Oniell - 5
Hiraiej - 5
Hoole - 3
Pain - 7
Murray - 4
Oar - 6
Mallon- 5

Would like to see this vs Sydney next week.
Kennedy
Pain Gallagher Aspro Rowles Mallory
Hiariej Karacan Melling
Oar
Simon

Next week for me if Simon & Mcging were available.

Mcging Aspro Sam Rowles
Miller Tom O’Neill Steve
Pain
Simon

Miller off - Jem on: 55min
Tom off - Melling on: 60min
Simon off - Murray on: 75min

I’d play Pain as a 10 cause he can swing to the left from there and his passing ain’t bad.

I’d still play the Sheffield guys for some hopeful reason that they might sure up over next couple weeks and lead into a strong last 4/6 games.

Oar & Mcglinchy are taking up the contract money but need to step aside, not fast or dangerous enough to make an impact of bench.

Get rid of the 4-3-3 and the 3-5-2 FFS!

Wow. I was ok after the MV game. We played one of the best sides and were actually better than them - for a half.
The fact MV turned it on for the second half and we both tired and couldn't cope with it: even though we lost there was plenty to be proud of and could build on. Seemed like progress at least.

Watching tonight's flat sh*t - we deserve the spoon and I'm nearly done with this season. Totally demoralising.

I'm very happy we only have 6 or 7 contracted for next season and would love to spend a decent amount of the kitty now on a quality coach to plan for next season. Now. There are 2 more teams coming in and if we don't get onto it ASAP next season will be just as bad.

Hmmm does Mulvey having a new job lined up have something to do with the reason he is only signing players til the end of the season, to allow the new coach a cleanish slate?

Sheffield boys are f**king rubbish. The kid at the back is hopeless
A bit harsh on the sub/winger. For the short time he had to get a feel for the game I thought he showed a few good things.

Agree with the defender though. Looked very slow for a youngster.

The commentators mentioned that Mulvey has something like a 15 player changeover, and we are something like 10 points worse than last year.

That's just not acceptable from a manager.
