Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Round 4 - Victory away

I don't think there's an issue bringing them back to play a role or even making Simon club captain but I do question his starting position when we have the most attacking options we've had in years. Many of us were concerned when it seemed that he would be our starting striker then after Ross was announced assumed he'd be the fiery sub we knew him to be with Sydney but so far that hasn't been the case. His inclusion could also stop us seeing more of Murray or Gameiro when available which is problematic for keeping them happy and at the club long term.

I agree with you there. No issue in why they were brought back ........ my issue is with them being starters and not coming from the bench. Accommodating simon as a starting striker is just bullshit:headbutt:........... when his strength .......... as seen in the past three seasons is putting pressure on a tired defense in the last ten minutes.

As I remember ...... last season we started well and then fell apart. We now know the reason. But ............ we are in the same spot this season only earlier.

I blame the “ back to the future “ regime ............ you cannot reconstruct the culture from years past ......... that took many years to build up............ by recruiting hasbeens of that era. I’m sorry if I offend the mcglinchy and simon lovers but it is there to see. Simon has gone back to his ineffective offside agenda and uncontrolled pressurising and nodding on the long ball ineffectively while mcglinchy has continued effectively displaying the form that pheonix didn’t consider valueable.

I would rather see an all new approach with the upgraded npl boys given a chance to nurture their own culture .........not shackled by the “old” culture.
Way too early to make that call I think. But crystal ball etc ;)

So the unique kit that was mentioned is our third kit with a poppy? What a big surprise. Seemed pretty obvious we'd be wearing the third kit away against a team that wears dark blue.

Poppy is a good idea but we seem to be getting in the habit of talking up something bigger than it turns out to be. Also the AFL did ANZAC uniforms - similar idea - and sorry to say but much better.

We're in for a proper shellacking here I'm afraid. MV always strong at home, our current metrics are rubbish and we haven't won this fixture in 15 attempts or somesuch.

Everything is against us. But if you want to turn things around. That's what you have to overcome.

Unfortunately I think it's clearly going to take some more time yet for the team to come together... but problem is with our history, back to back losses and our morale may well decline and the doubt creeps in. Winning is always important, but winning now... is even more so.

I could accept going down there to park the bus.

Put Tommy H into ten, Melling in beside Oneil, and drop Matty so that we have a proper and very defensive midfield. Stick Ross up there alone and try to counter with pace or score off a set piece and nick a point or 3.

The original Offsider before Offsider showed up. We're all doomed Capt Mannering!

Victory have been shit this year. Our defence has been strong for the 1st time in 4 years. They have been lucky against us in the past. I actually took us at 7-1 and the draw as my security blanket.
The only thing in their fav is Kenny athiu is out injured.
I think we will bounce back from our lethargy of last week.

What I find really really interesting is the absence of comments from some posters  at this time.

Adelaide was a wakeup call ........... the reality of the job ahead. Adelaide were / are way out of our league .......... as are victory, glory, jets, city and sfc.
We are more competitive with pheonix, wsw and roar on our day ......... but the npl guys will have to step up.

Looking forward to the mulvey team announcements and the reaction from the team. A loss is ok for me as long as we don’t crumple.

:tv: Bring it on.

Sydney, Perth and Adelaide look a cut above.

Victory, City and Jets are yet to convince (though Vargas looks good).

I'm certainly not writing us off yet. A few tweaks and the team getting to know each other after such a major overall and we can look a hell of a lot better.

Both coaches in last night’s clash of the other 3-0 losers from last weekend made changes to their line ups, I wonder if MMM will do the same?

It worked for $ity but not so much for the Nix, so some food for thought there you would think?

Defence looks to be the same. One change in midfield. One possible forced change in the front third.
