So concludes my third season as a Mariner. I love this club dearly and the fans and community are what truly make us great. Thanks to everyone here for being so welcoming and it's terrific to read what everyone has to say.

Tonight truly stung, watching goal after goal fly in, I thought I had become numb to losing but not tonight.

I will be a Mariner till I die, our loss to Green Gully in the soaking rain being taunted and shoved into mud saw to that. Chanting "Tony Walmsley football genius" when we were 3-0 up in Geelong is another thing I certainly won't forget. But as a relatively new fan, and one who has been a member for two of my three seasons here, what enjoyment can I say I have derived from our on field performance in my three years? Seeing us beat a horrific Glory side in Walmsley first league game, watching Luis Garcia tear the Nix apart in Auckland, a brief but glorious 92 minutes while we lead Victory in Geelong and seeing a 17 year old goalkeeper make his debut and do well, seeing Harry Ascroft run forward and thump home a goal so we drew to Sydney, the comeback against Glory in Okon's first game, Pains first worldie in Adelaide, seeing Alistair Bray do so well in his only game, beating Glory while Slater ranted about how we shouldn't be in the league, seeing Reddy be waved off by Monty, our three game winning streak including Roy's tremendous chip against the Wanderers, beating an inept Jets side and Trent's rise to the A-League, beating Sydney FC, Wellington and Perth and believing for a few weeks. These moments and sharing each and every loss, win or draw with all of you is what makes me proud to be a Mariner.

For my three seasons I have two spoons, 8th place and a knock out in the FFA Cup by two NPL clubs while never seeing my team win in person. Mike Charlesworth, Shaun and Mike Mulvey I dearly hope you get the next season right, for what are we offering our old fans and members let alone new ones? If we are not viable soon, if we cannot spend more soon, I fear for our future. On Twitter tonight we are seen as the reason promotion and relegation is needed, our ineptitude should be punished as one put it. Without the TV money how would we ever pay our bills let alone get back to the top flight? Our future is in your hands Mr Mulvey, I pray that you are up to the job.

I admire your loyalty, JP. you didn't get the steel of experiencing the good times (which were very good) to see you through.
As FPhoenix said "a wooden spoon to eat an 8-2 shit sandwich from your most hated rival while your ex founding coach and former mayor looks on laughing and drinking beers in a scum shirt"
more or less sums up this season, and probably the last 3.

It really is make or break next season. I think Mulvey can do it, but sheesh, what an uphill run!

The team just went through the motions. Absolutely no ticker at all. This was a derby against our most hated rivals and a chance to dodge the spoon.
FFS where were the yellow cards?
Absolutely gutless.
I felt ill through most of the 2nd half, what a frightful way to send Josh off.
The only saving grace is we do not see this team, save one or two players, ever again.

I wonder how many of the guys had been told before the "game" that their time at Gosford was over? Or was this an indicator of what they think of their new coach?

It kind of looked like the last day before Christmas holidays at the office, where everyone's watching the clock just waiting to run out the door and get on the piss for a couple of weeks... maybe even sneak a couple in as you go.

It's hard to believe that any of them are actually paid to do that, and as with many others, hope to never see any of them playing for the Mariners again.

Ask yourself one question. Would Scum have scored 8 with Monty in the side?

Liam Rose is an imposter at this level.

What sucks is seeing the heart and soul of this club either go down to Sydney or head up the F3 and replicate success there. In its' place is a squad who (for the most part) look like they don't give a shit. They resemble the CCM that caused the HAL to take notice as much as the current season of The Simpsons resembles the 5th season of The Simpsons.

adz comment about how they looked like they were waiting to get on the piss or sneak a couple in beforehand echoed a thought I had about this earlier, especially considering the worst-kept secret that has been the "culture" in the current squad.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
well...Deb and me got there for the United v Zagreb game , knowing full well, that that would be the match of the day, AND WHAT A GAME 5-0 wih a hattrick to Alex, well done United....and as for the main game, well, to be honest we left at 7-1, couldnt take it anymore, I can imagine Mulvey in the stand with a check list going gone, gone, gone ..FKN GONE...I know we saw Shaun in the stand when we got there and he looked deadset miserable.....the game shit me for many and varies reasons, all of which have been listed previously, BUT when your keeper dislocates (or breaks im not sure) why would you not sub him , kennedys bad enough but at one handed his f**kin useless, AND then he took off Liam and replaced him with fkn Bingham f**k ME, SULLY YOU FKN NITWIT, the only bloke with any ticker last night was Connor ...also, DDS and Skeps were sitting just in front of us and unlike Danny, Skeps didnt even have his Mariners suit on...no idea what happened there

I figure we had about 11 mins of the first half where we had them slightly on the ropes during which time of course we only got one goal but had 8000 opportunities, ...so, to end , let me just say, that that was a fitting end to the era of f**king awful....heres to Magic Mike, bashing that toothless, panicking bullshit out of them.totally reversing our fortunes next year....see, im keen already

and as for our former mayor , they must of shit on you from a great height for you to totally scummify....geez

A goalfest in Gosford saw the Central Coast Mariners humbled 8-2 by rivals Newcastle Jets in Saturday evening’s F3 Derby.

Central Coast Mariners

Ben Kennedy – 2: Beaten regularly and pathetically. Suffered a thumb injury later on. 0.

Jake McGing – 3: Unable to stop the constant barrage. Caught Joey Champness in the box to worsen the loss. 2.

Alan Baro – 3: Tortured by a rampant Newcastle attack. 3.

Liam Rose – 3: Needed to help with the midfield control more than he did. A learning experience. 3.

Kye Rowles – 3: Another performance to forget for the teenager. 3.

Lachlan Wales – 5: Could not deliver protection for the back line. 4.5.

Connor Pain – 7: A rare positive in the game. What hope of a comeback existed in the first half came from Pain’s goal and overall energy. Defensive frailties soon suffocated it. 5.5.

Andrew Hoole – 5: Could not produce much going forward, nor influence the tempo of the game. 4.

Josh Rose – 5: An enviable career came to an end with this contest. Went off to an ovation in the 72nd minute and deserved a better ending. 3.

Wout Brama – 5: Did not come up enough but the featured in the Mariners’ good spells. 4.

Blake Powell – 5: A few suggestions of talent but dragged down by the overall performance. Switched out in the 63rd minute. 3.

Substitutes:

Storm Roux – N/A: Brought on for Rose, when most of the psychological damage had already been done.

Trent Buhagiar – 6.5: Grabbed a goal off the bench but the game had already slipped away.

Josh Bingham – N/A: Main contribution tonight was flinging himself to the ground in injury time.

Newcastle Jets

Jack Duncan – 6: Conceded two goals but did not have as bad a night as his opposite number.

Johnny Koutroumbis – 6: Not much to complain about for the defender, despite bits of understandable complacency.

Ben Kantarovski – 6: Succumbed to injury just before half time, replaced by Lachlan Jackson.

Nikolai Topor-Stanley – 6.5: Managed to read the game very well at times, as is expected.

Daniel Georgievski – 6.5: Created a few chances and held a strong structure.

Dimitri Petratos – 7: Added his name to the immense scoresheet. An active and confident performance.

Steven Ugarkovic – 6.5: Showed glimpses of his vision at times. A number of passes had the away supporters purring.

Riley McGree – 10: A hat-trick and an assist. Utilised all of his power and precision and was unplayable throughout the contest.

Jason Hoffman – 6: Strong enough night as the players around him shone.

Roy O’Donovan – 8.5: The Irishman managed to get two goals against his old side, including a well taken penalty.

Joe Champness – 7: Opened the floodgates with his side’s first goal. Brought off in the 72nd minute.

Substitutes

Pato Rodriguez – 6.5: Heavily involved in McGree’s third, when a jaw-dropping piece of skill left his markers for dead. Solid outing.

Lachlan Jackson – 7: Came off the bench in the 45th minute and scored in the second half.

Angus Thurgate – N/A: Introduced in the 87th minute.

7 is a bit rich for pain. I don't you can lose 8-2 and have anyone rate higher than a 5. Even if he were to have scored both, which he didn't.

I only remember one crunching tackle by us all game. And that was by Trent for Gods sake!
Rowles made two. But otherwise yeah exactly. This is what I mean about our DM’s last night, if you think Hutch, Monty Mile or Rostyn would have got through that game without a yellow (probably two) and half a dozen strong tackles then you’d be out of your mind.

After Liam being absent most of the season, when he came back I thought he'd turned a corner and was again on the improve. But for a bloke who's now played like 50 first grade games, I just don't know.

Isn't the comparison between us and Nix interesting?
Nix: "shit boys, season's up in a couple of weeks. We're looking at the spoon here......FIRE UP!!!"
*nix win sportsball*
Nix "Well....we're still behind those bastards. Last round. Gotta win this one, do or die, FIRE THE FARK UP!!!!!"
*Nix win sportsball again*

CCM fans: "FFS guys, have you SEEN how close Nix are? Do SOMETHING, PLEASE!! Don't give us the spoon"
CCM: "Yeah, f**k off aye, can't be f**ked aye"
*CCM perform like CCM*
CCM fans: "JESUS f**kING CHRIST ON A STICK!!! NIX ARE GOING TO WIN AND WE'RE GOING TO GET THE SPOON!! IT'S THE JETS!! PLAY FOR f**kING PRIDE!! DON'T GET THE SPOON!! FIRE THE FARK UP!!!!!!"
Mulvey: "I'm not your coach yet, but if you're off contract and you f**k this up, you ain't coming back next year"
CCM: "Oh my GOD mum!! Stop telling me what to DOOOOO!!! f**k off already!! How about we do just the opposite? Huh? Huh? How do you like that? We'll just do the opposite of what you want us to do. Maybe THEN you're stop telling us what to do. Just f**k off aye, sick of you guys wanting us to do shit. f**k off Sully, not even listening to your shit, who cares about soccer anyway? Oi mike...MIKE!!! chuck us that cone would ya? yeah thanks, now f**k off now. we're getting blaaaaaaaaazed!!! Who's got a light?"
*CCM manage to disgrace everything this club once stood for in far more spectacular fashion than anybody thought possible*
