Screw this. In case anybody ever had any illusions about our defense learning to be vaguely competent, this game should set those misconceptions straight.

Surely there's a Gosford U/11 coach or something we could hire for a few hours a week as our defensive coach, nice and cheap?

I genuinely think O'Donovan forgot to come out after halftime and we've been playing with 10 men and nobody noticed.

Anyway, I rate Diawawa as our best defender this match.

And apparently it's okay to take a minute to take a throw in when you're up and it's in stoppage time. Good to know.

Disappointed and such an important game for the success of the season, we are now specials for the spoon so really no different to last year. Totally agree with Wombat about the defence, amateur hour and very frustrating. Front third looked impetant, seems like we have to pass the ball five times in the box before we shoot. With our dominance in the first half we needed to be more than 1-0. Roy was disappointing IMO and maybe him leaving wouldn't be a bad thing, he couldn't get on the right side of a defender all evening.

Yeah but we've been shit all season. We should have been less shit this game. THIS was a must-win, but it was a truly pathetic performance. Woeful sub decisions from Okon too. Attack looked like they had never seen each other before, defence looked like they had never seen a football field before.
Pain and Appiah, maybe even McGing, even Necevski were about the only players who shouldn't still be on the field running punishment laps.

Well I had a very bad hangover after partying till 3am with teenagers (birthday) and only getting 3 or 4 hours kip.
Consequently I didnt make any effort to round up any numbers for this game and i'm glad i didnt because that second half was disgraceful.
Captain summed it up perfectly.
But is was also a lame Mariner's performance, especially from the Midfield,( apart from Monty).
Even Paul appeared half asleep.

I thought Ivan did quite well but he conceeded 3 goals and doesnt scream starting 11.
Monty was pretty good and as usual the only player that ever looks to switch the ball.
Pain and Fab were very ordinary. Appiah who is technically far below both of them had a better game than both of them.
Great Penalty from Roy but only an average game overall.

Feeling angry right now.

Adelaide's Centre Backs looked composed and efficient. Was that baldie Regan the scummer??? He looks way fitter and played very well.

Agree with most of it, but Pain was one of our top players tonight I thought.
I actually thought Adelaide's defence was pretty terrible as well, but our forwards just weren't attacking, weren't exploring weaknesses or drawing players away.

3. Club didnt sign anyone in Jan after saying they would...so no excitement.
4. Battle of the Wooden spoon doesn't rate well.
5. Rumours the club is impotently standing buy while one of its better players leaves for free.
