I'd like to keep Bosnar too. Don't agree with Gerhardt as being a good buy. Not worth it as a visa player with so many other options available.

I actually rate Vrankovic from Heart. Was looking good but his career got destroyed under Aloisi and now he's been released. Same story for Walker. Hoffman ffs was played all season before him. Both young and would fit in well.

If in the market for a centre back, then out of those available I think they should make a play for Golec. Young left-footer and WSW have loads of CBs, can't keep them all. Topor-Stanley and McKain are also out of contract and might be worth poaching but may already be in contract negotiations with their clubs. Madaschi is a free agent, so to Beauchamp now. One to avoid most definitely is Matt Jurman!

Jerrad Tyson from Western Sydney would be a good backup too. Young, looked far better than Pasfield at GCU and in solitary start this season. Should be hot property since the only other options are Necevski or keep Pasfield! Could try and pick someone from State Leagues.

Need a striker for next season and it'd be good for Kwas to go because can't have him and Simon both. Simon might improve and with Duke and Ibini at least there's players available but there really does need to be a backup option or another starter. Kennedy, Macdonald, Rukavytsa from returning Roos maybe? Longs shots though, not to mention impractical. Perhaps there's a failed OS youth player in the mould of Maclaren or Gamerio to come back.

Team I'd like to see next season:
--------------Reddy---------------
Roux---Anderson-Bosnar---Rose
--------Caceras--Montgomery---
Ibini-------Weemac-----Fitgerald
--------------Duke-----------------
Bench: Backup GK, Sim (def cover), Hutchinson, Kim, Simon

With a new Striker moving Simon out of the team and Fitzy onto the bench. Also to blood the other youngsters throughout in the hope 1-2 of the will become A-League standard in '15.

Hope this post helps.

Tyson is going to Perth, you heard it here first ;)

I am new to this forum, but a CCM supporter from day 1.

AFAIK, unless Vegalta Sendai drop him earlier (or CCM ask, not sure how this loan deal works), MicMac may not be back until the end of the J-League season which runs until 6th December!

I hope MicMac comes back ASAP, but we have to plan at least the first 2 months of next season without him.

I would chuck Kwasnik unless he is already fit and back to full training now (which I am pretty sure he isn't).

Coaching:
John Crawley must be kept at all costs.
We should give Zwaanswijk a specialist defensive coaching role within the A-League team setup to go along with the NYL role.

Squad:
We need a backup GK, and I think Pasfield is as good as anyone, unless anyone knows of a 19 year old Mat Ryan clone sitting somewhere in the NYL/AIS system.

If we can get out of the Seip contract cheaply, I would. Even though he has played much better when he has been on Roux's side of defence.

Re-sign Bosnar for one year and another younger CB to train up (replace Seip). Bosnar and Zwaanswijk use their experience to really tune up Anderson and all youngsters.
If at all possible, we need to keep Bernie.

We should also replace "The Sterj" with a strong, young striker with great skills with the feet and head.

If was totally ruthless, I would ditch Hutcho and Simon for faster, younger creative/goal scoring midfielders.

Firstly Coleridge I would like to say welcome and a great post that I enjoyed reading. I would have to disagree with you however with having Fitzy on the bench. I think he should always start the game, with his engine he runs the opposition raggered and then Bernie or duke can come on late and destroy an exhausted opposition.

this is who is contracted for season 10 - 2014/15… (Alphabetical)

Anderson
Caceres
Cernak
Curran
Duke
Fitzgerald
Hutchinson
Kalik

Kim
Kwasnik
McGlinchey
Montgomery
Morton
Neill
Reddy
j Rose
l Rose
Roux
Seip
Sim
Slater

this is the current squad for 13/14...

green - contracted for next season
orange - no contract for next season
red - contracted but out on loan

: goal keepers :

Reddy - 15/ 16
Pasfield 13/ 14. I'd resign Pass...solid keeper and a good fit for the club.

: defenders :

J Rose (LB) - 14/15
Anderson (CB) - 14/15
Seip (CB) - 15/16

Griffiths (CB, LB) 13/14......I cut Griff2 although I can see potential, however we need a top class centre back to marry in with Bosnar or even Ando if he can fine tune his game.
Bosnar (CB) - 13/14. I think he has already re-signed and I agree with that.

Roux (RB) - 14/15
Morton (RB) - 14/15
Neil (LB) - 14/15
Sim (LB, LM) - 14/15

: midfielders :
Flores (CAM) - 13/14 (no contract offered)

Kalik (AM/DM) - 16/17
Slater (LW) -15/16
Curran (DM) - 14/15
Kim (LW, CAM)- 14/15
Cernak (CAM, DM)- 14/15
Trifiro (CAM, DM)- 14/15

Mcglinchy (RM, CAM, LM)- 14/15 (out on loan). Bring Wee Mac back for sure.
L rose (MID) 15/16

: forwards :

Fitzgerald (LW, RW) 14/15
Kwasnic (LW, CF) 14/15

Ibini (RW, LW, CF) - 13/14 (on loan). Bring back for sure.
Simon (CF) - 13/14. I would resign without hesitation as long as he is not of big bucks.

Duke - (CF, RW) 14/15
Sterjovski - (CF, RW) RETIRING. This is a key for us...replace Sterjovski with a free scoring Centre forward.

players in preferred positions:

----------------------- Duke/Cernack/Kwas -----------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fitzy/Slater/Kwas ------ Kim/Trifiro/Caceres ------ Duke/Fitzy
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
----- Caceres/Hutch/L Rose ------------- Monty/Kalik/Curren -----
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

J Rose/sim/Neill ---- Siep ------------ Anderson ------- Roux/Morton
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------- Reddy ----------------------------------

My starting 11.

Reddy
Storm. New CB/ando. Bosnar. Rose
Ibini Monty Kim/caceras/kalik. WeeMac

Simon/new striker. duke.

So for me only 3 spots are in question providing we can bring back Weemac and Bernie.

As pointed out in the "Hutch" thread, he provides so much more than "just" skills and I agree that once he does go, we're at great risk of losing our way. The way I see it, the obvious heir to that role is Matty, even if he is not rated skill-wise, I think he brings a lot to the game... I actually also think that he is a better player than he is generally given credit for, even if he's far from the best. I think letting go of either of those two ahead of time, would be a HUGE mistake.
Sadly, Kwas probably does need to go though, he hasn't been able to play for two seasons now, but he too has quite a bit of club-man about him. :)

Apparently Shane Smeltz wants out of Perth and is off-contract. We need a proven goalscorer. We still have a contract for his All Whites teammate McGlinchey.

Can we make it happen? Could be a super signing.

I'm betting that Ibini would go to WSW - his family lives there, and I think with his father's passing his family has become all-important (and I can completely understand and support that). But we'll still have Duke and Fitz, and they could both learn shitloads from one of the A-League's best ever strikers.

For what it's worth, if we had Smeltz, I'd be broadly supportive of us playing 4-4-2 from time to time.

I would guess that Smeltz would want a lot of money; I am not sure we have a lot. I think he is over the hill, lazy and injury prone but we have rarely had what I would call a genuine goal scorer, so who knows.
Bernie says we are his second family so I have my fingers crossed.

Mid season they were reporting Smeltz to AU. If he wants out I think it's to go to AU. Not sure if it was family or something of that note but I'd say he'd back up Djite at AU if he moves based on mid season comments by fox commentators.

He would be a good pick up if cheap however he is probably still on good coin after the career he has had.

Would an experienced striker be our preferred option? I'd have to say yes.

If there is one player to open the cheque book for it's Ibini. Need to move heaven & earth to re-sign him if he plays in the A League again next year. I understand the family thing & it's a worry WSW have cleared Hersey & no mention of a replacement until the other week on fox about Ibini being a chance & we all know it makes sense from a personal point of view.
But he really grabbed the team by the short & curly's & took them front solid to dangerous. He also lit up the crowd & we know how important bums on seats are. I'd say he'd be our top draw card to attract fans at the moment.

In this day and age, I can't agree that choosing to play for WSW over CCM is excusable due to family reasons. We're only a short commute up the M1. Plenty of us working class stiffs do it all the time, for less money and with equally valid reasons for staying put.
Controversial opening paragraph aside, I'd take Smeltz in a heartbeat. 3 years ago, he was captain of my fantasy team and was worth his weight in gold. I still feel he has a lot to offer.

As it stands now we would start the season with 21 players. In that we have only 1 GK, 2 CBs and 1 uninjured CF. Wee-Mac is down to join us again in December to take us to 22 but that doesn't fill those positions.

I believe that Michael Neill should be retained on his minimum contract - but not be part of the senior squad but drop back to the NYL. From what I gather he was injured and didn't play at all last season. With Sim's extension it would seem a long way from a start so the NYL would probably be best for all. If that happened we would be back to 21.

I will assume that we will have 26 players for next season with 3 youngsters outside the cap and squad limit. So in theory that will leave 5 players possible. Seb Hassett article seems to say that Matt Simon will be re-signed because he has triggered enough games for an extension. I think that Bernie should be a major target for another spot.

That the leaves the 3 most important spots the GK and two CBs (spoken like an old keeper).

In spite of surprising me this year with a stellar shot-stopping season this year I don't necessarily see Liam as the walk-up start to the No 1 next year and sadly I don't see Justin as the other keeper. In our championship season we were constantly on attack because of the distribution of Maty Ryan. He could pass to our two CBs who were very confident on the ball and build up slowly, he could send our marauding fullbacks away or his side punts could pick out someone further forward. These options gave us space and time. Maty's distribution was key. At times Liam is ok at this - at times he is downright ordinary.

So my scouting task for Creepy is to find someone for the other GK spot that has comparable shot stopping skills but has better distribution skills than Liam to improve our attack.

Equally I'm not sold on Zac without a ball playing CB next to him. If we sign Bosnar we also need to sign another ball-paying CB. My choice would be Spiranovic who could also cover Monty in front of the CBs

So to add team lineups - new players in red - re-signing in blue

4-3-3 with a screener in front of the back four

--------------------Keeper/Reddy----------------------

Roux/Morton-----Spira/Ando-----Bosnar/Seip----Rose/Sim

-----------------------Monty/Hutch/Curran

---------Caceres/Triforo/Rose---------Wee-Mac/Kim/Kalik

Ibini/Cernak----------Duke/Simon/Kwas----------Fitzgerald/Slater

or 4-2-3-1

--------------------Keeper/Reddy----------------------

Roux/Morton-----Spira/Ando-----Bosnar/Seip----Rose/Sim

--------------Monty/Curran--------Caceres/Hutch------------

Ibini/Cernak-----Kim/Kalik/Triforo/Rose----Wee-Mac/Fitzgerald/Slater

--------------------Duke/Simon/Kwas---------

If as hinted that Kwas does not recover his replacement must provide an aerial threat. An area that we now lack in.
