ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Usain Bolt!

I had a look at training today. I didn't see Usian but the reserves had just played against the Youth....wish I'd seen that.....and maybe he was in the reserves and had already left. The first 12 outfield players went through some 1 and 2 touch routines with MMM before I left (without the rest of the squad).

Points of interest. Ross has the same baby pink boots as Aiden so they must be comfortable.
The little guy Nesbit has some serious skills.

I just see agents.

This is what they do.

CCM opened negotiations brilliantly and responsibly imo.

Now the agents are fighting hard.

But Usain wants to stay and play.

Or this would already be over.

As a footballer 150k is a generous offer.

But as a branding tool and marketing device, he’s worth a lot more. Tricky.

I’m thinking both parties want to make it work.

Maybe ........ “wantED” ......... to make it work.

I just can’t reconcile the hard work and graft that bolt was going to have to put in ............. with the partying, globetrotting, agent’s golden goose that he was/is in reality. He didn’t want to play a-league .......... he wanted to play for ManU.

It feels like money is an easy answer to avoid the obvious issue he’d have a hard time securing a spot on the bench in what seems to be a very competitive squad. Last year we could have done it easily but this year we’ve got players that would have been starting XI previously fighting to make the match day squad. It’s a nice problem to have after the last few years.

this gives him a bit of a face saving opportunity to go and play in Malta, or US, or Jamaica....if he really wants to "follow his dream"....

It's brought us incredible publicity but let's be honest, it's a total polar opposite to what we are trying to achieve this season. It's already a competitive bench and with Hooley, Aspro, Gameiro coming back soon it would have been laughable to pick him just because he's here. I think money is just a face saver so he can exit gracefully.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
Bolt was Bonz for publicity and his two goals put the club out there...BUT... he was never gonna get anywhere near the skill level that warranted the money his manager wanted his 15% of ...so off to Malta (or wherever) he goes then ..SEEYA
P.S don’t cross your fingers for a Old Trafford start Bolty...you got Buckley’s

Football these days is as much a business as a sport, the Media exposure and publicity that Bolt brought to the club can't be replicated.
The Mariners need every bit of publicity they can get, getting results on field just won't cut it.

No doubt but at the same time IMO we need results more than publicity right now. We need to build our credibility back up, repay the faith for loyal fans and win back the ones we've lost. That will help crowds & memberships and stop us being the obvious next target if 'Nix out' ever happens. Publicity is great but not if you're just highlighting how bad things are.
