ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The Phelan factor

Agree on fan boy stuff and not knowing football. Harry stuff was beyond embarrassing. But I don’t think Mike Phelan can be considered a bad pick up front provided he was willing to spend regular time here. I can think of plenty of reasons to hope his appointment would prove valuable for the club.

ESPN has a fairly dumb but entertaining show and the pundits were calling for Solskjaer to be sacked already!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We cannot have our technical director being overseas all the time let alone be the assistant manager of Manchester United. We need someone that is on the ground here helping us 24/7, not someone who treats us like his side project.
Foxsports reporting about Manchester United - "The club look set to appoint a sporting director to oversee recruitment – an area that has been an expensive failure for the club in recent times. Rio Ferdinand has reportedly been sounded out as a candidate for the role."

does this mean Phelan may now have us as his primary job....so may actually become useful? (assuming he decides to learn about the A-League)?

Nah, Phelan is an FT assistant to Ole.
its done, we should move on but at least sponge their scouting networks.

Can't tell if it was an attempt to be polite or an utter slap in the face and underestimation to the Aleague for him to think he could genuinely do the two jobs.

Am i the only person that thought Phelan wasn't all that.....................in his real job.............not in the Aussie junket twice a year.

What has he ever achieved as a player or managerial role?

In my mind Phelan was clearly not coming back when he first returned to ManU and I'm genuinely surprised it took anywhere near this long to confirm it.
But it was always going to be when Phelan signed an official contract and not before.

It'd be basically negligent of the club if it isn't pretty much ready to go on a Plan B for the next TD. With this club it's more than possible though so who knows
