Michael Jackson was a flawed, tortured genius who also had his dark side.
There is absolutely no doubt that albums like Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad all showcased his musical talents, but after then the quality of his work went into decline and he was in the press for other things, sadly.
He never had a proper childhood, because his life was virtually all professional since the age of 5, and he was utterly incapable of handling adulthood.
There is absolutely no denying he was the most influential pop star of a generation. Considering that he worked in a genre where creative freedom was at a premium, this was no mean feat.
