ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Reffing shockers at CCM games (yeah I know)

I think Leckie got both goals.

Probably best for us that Sydney lost though...
Why they are not getting the spoon. We need to death ride the Roar and Glory. Scum have improved and will not be spooners. It’s a three horse race and we are warming as favourites.

Even if everything you say is true, the simple fact is, it does nothing to improve the game. At best it may have the ability to correct some incorrect calls but the process takes more away from the game than the correction, of only a fraction of the errors, brings.

It is a blot on the game.

Poker machines make pubs more efficient but much less enjoyable than when they had live music.

I think we all agree that the process takes too long, but I don't think removing VAR is the answer. If the VAR was removed, and everyone could see clear errors in the replays, we would be asking why the ref cant access those replays and revisit the decision. Well I certainly would :)
I don't have the answer for improving the process but I imagine that there could be minimum technical requirements such as X number of dedicated cameras, a certain level of picture quality [Y pixels and at Z frames/second] as well as a time limit on the decision.
Technical assistance is not uncommon and used successfully in other sports. NRL, tennis and cricket to name a few. Maybe football could even introduce a limited number of appeals/ game by a team as in cricket and tennis- the captain would not want to use up all his reviews on frivolous calls.

How many assistants do we having working the VAR?…cause almost every league I watch from o/s (bundesliga, Ligue 1, la liga ) has a 3 man booth

This is covered under the VAR protocol in the LOTG - you can have one or more AVAR (Assistant VAR) and one or more Replay Operator (RO).

I think the RO is more of a technician role. While the LOTG aren't clear, I think the role of the aVAR is just to ensure that things aren't missed while VAR is checking.

For instance, the aVAR can be checking other cameras for off-the-ball incidents while play is going. Ir there might be a potential RC incident in the middle of the field, VAR starts to review that then there's a penalty incident, it ensures that things are being checked. At least, that's my understanding of the intention, though I suppose you could end up with more than 1 official checking the same incident. aVAR is allowed to communicate with the ref if the VAR is otherwise busy.

We definitely can but we are not heading there at the moment - we are fighting for the spoon on current form

The good news is that we have 42 points to play for. The bad news is that we probably need to average 2 points a game to get to 39 to make the 6.

Apart from our lack of a cutting edge, and our tendency to leak late goals, we're playing pretty well. I think we should've got 5 points from the last three games but...

Fix those problems, Monty, and we make the six. When's he gonna try Tsekenis?

Who would you have him replace in our front line?
Further to Allreets assertions, I feel like the last few games, particularly the Melbourne Victory game and Adelaide games, we had a chance to push for the win. Monty made no subs, or defensive ones at the end. Cy and Ballard do not scream attack and get back and defend like having Hatch or Tsekenis come in. Or the koul effect from last season.

No-one.

I'd like to see him get 15/20 at the end to see what he can do. Needs more than one chance to find his feet.
Thought McCarthy looked more ready than Tsekenis and Kuol looks more ready than either of them by a good margin.

Honestly, it would take an internal collapse or a continued run of startlingly bad luck to continue our losing form. Myself I think the last minute mistakes will disappear with a fitter, more rested side, and if we can just get our attacking combo plays to improve, the wins are going to look like the weather… and do nothing but piss down.
