Melbourne have nothing to lose or gain this game. They'll play for form but there will be little real desperation.
Jets play Sydney who need to win to beat the Roar's record of 65 points for a season. Sydney will go for it.

We are in the box seat for not getting the spoon. There is something to play for here

Go for it boys! Likely even a draw will be a win

Just thinking about it though - we should be playing like the spoon is up for grabs.

Because it is.

If AU so much as draw they could technically pull ahead of us on the ladder (so a draw will be a big help).

It would be a huge upset if AU and NJ manage to win, but it's not outside of the bounds of possibility.

a plausible, unlikely scenario would be for AU to draw and pull ahead of us (if we get beaten by a few goals), and NJ to win (it's football - a match can be determined by a single penalty decision). A draw for us will protect us fro that and means NJ and AU will both need to win to pull ahead of us. Possible, but extremely unlikely.

But bear in mind that if NJ somehow win, AU will be fighting hard. And they're only playing the wanderers so a win is definitely doable. Especially as the game doesn't mean anything to the wanderers.

Realistically I can't see SFC choking here. But stranger things have happened.

What game is this? The season ended on Sunday!
It's our we beat the Jets to get off the bottom celebration game for our loyal Melbournites

We will know our fate by Saturday night, if we don't win.
Jets up first on Saturday, a draw is a problem for us
AU up next against a ACL WSW who play tonight and presume next week so might rest a few depending on what value they hold for 5th over 6th

MV haven't been playing great and Kev will be desperate for a better performance leading into the finals especially with the week off. They've got a red card in last two games so will be looking for better discipline as well.

Realistically we need to limit the damage if we lose.

CCM 23 points, - 20GD
AU 22 points, - 21 GD
Jets 22 points, -23 GD

In a tie
We go
1) GD
2) GS - we on 31, AU 23 and Jets 28
3) points between clubs a we cover both beating AU twice and one loss and Jets once with 2 draws
Rest won't be needed as we have better record earnings points against both
4) GD between clubs
5) Lowest red cards
6) lowest yellow cards
7) toss a coin

If AU draw, then we can loose by 1 goals and stay in front based on points gained against them

If Jets draw, then we can loose by 3 goals and stay in front based on points gained against them. Unless the Jets score 4 goals in their draw as that would put them ahead of us on goals scored. A 4-4 draw with Sydney seems very unlikely but better be prepared

Jets have imploded, wouldn't be surprised to see SFC put five unanswered goals past them like we could have. If we play with the same spirit we did on Sunday evening we will make them uncomfortable at the very least which would be nice.

If the Jets do finish last it may sway Roy from signing with them.
Would he leave the 2016 spooners to join the 2017 & A- league record holder wooden spooners?
He may be Irish but he`s not stupid

LOL @ Lawries bullshit about "we havent ruled out signing Castro"
He's a filthy cheating scumbag who consistently brings the game into disrepute. So, he'd fit in fine at the Jets if his soul wasn't already melded to MCY with what I'm sure could be a slogan akin to what TV stations often use, "Melbourne City - the Home of Australian Diving"
Arsewipe.
