ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Jedinak should take free kicks but not penalties. We cant get shitty everytime someone misses a penalty. Even the best players miss them and 9 times out of 10 i can assure you that Aloisi wouldve gotten that one

I think this topic is extremely harsh on Aloisi if it is based on his miss last night.  As Skillbeck said even the best miss them as we have seen numerous times.  If Aloisi wasn't on the field then Jedinak would be a decent replacement or even Kwasnik.

i dont beleave you would suggest aloisi not take peniltys just becasue he missed one

hes the best man for the job and if he misses one then that be that

Alright, assuming that next week goes to a penalty shoot out, I would use any combination of these 8 players (assuming only 5 are on the field at the time).

Aloisi
Sasho
Owens
Jedinak
Kwasnik
Hutchinson
Gumprecht
Simon

In that order of importance. I would normally have Simon in top 2 or 3 but a shoot out at A League level might overwhelm him at this stage of his career

ahhh oops forgot about him. Would make it look like the world cup qualifiers in a way :p and im sure Checkers would want one as well

Aloisi will be afforded the statement "everyone is entitled to a miss.... etc" but imagine if Kwassie had have done that....he would have been crucified!

Yep..that's a fair comment.... 1994 World Cup Finale..... Baggio misses.... and as most people say, he was one of the best.

Football knockout games are about winning, NOT missing penalties.  That's what prompted me to ask the question -  should we look at the ability of some other players in our squad, rather then relying of  ex-superstars.

bakery5, I have no intention to discredit any of our players etc.  Go f**k yourself.

Can anyone come up with the last time Aloisi missed one... Tough luck... Do you reckon he feels worse than any of us... Im sure he does.. He would be feeling he let the entire squad down, the fans.. He wont miss again..  :soapbox:

Aloisi would still be my first pick. Looking at the game it looks like he was in two minds on how to strike the ball. Still I would send him up every time.

        Aloisi
        Petrovski
        Kwasnik
        Jedinak
        Simons
        Hutchinson
        Gumprecht
        Vidmar

So Aloisi had a bad day at the office.

He got rid of three bad luck turns in the one game.

Look out for the rebound in the return leg!!!!  He'll be awsome!

I can't wait.
