ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Lets face it, Ch7 or any FTA network will provide an awful viewing experience as they have NFI about the game and will try to package like they do their main sports. It will be horrible.

Expect pull through ads for Home and Away, some ALF commentators and horrible phrases drawn from the other codes.

The Socceroos drew more viewers that the Lolabies - that will set alarm bells ringing

There'll be advertising *around* the telecast, of that you can be sure. There'll be annoying cross-promotion, of that you can also be sure. They'll definitely try to package it up neatly with the top and tailing that the AFL gets and they'll have a panel of clueless talking heads on there and yet 2 million people will watch, and they'll (Ch7) ask themselves how and when they can next get a piece of the action.

When they want to use *our* sport to cross-promote Packed To The f**king Rafters then we know we're winning. If they're paying full freight, then all good.

FFA draws approximately $7 million from grassroots footballers all over the country through the national registration fee. If they get to sell product to FTA networks and remove the need to continue drawing that fee, kids (well, their parents) might save $12.60 a pop on rego, adults $25.

If it's a *big* success, FFA might even start granting money, rather than taking it, and we might start competing on price at the grassroots with RL and aussie rules.

I'm looking to the long game - I'll wear commercialisation if it generates benefits to the grassroots, *especially* if it means that kids who sign up for programs like CCMA get to join a fully funded program and don't have to fork over $2400 a pop, meaning our most talented kids will never be denied opportunities because their parents can't afford it.

They probably did show the moon landing - I'm pretty sure that Leave It To Beaver would've taken a back seat.

All 7 care about are ratings & revenue - They will abuse the game for sure as they have no reason to sell it - They are just looking to take the viewers & remind them what's on 7.

As for selling to them I think both are separate games sold buy separate promoters? I think the MV Liverpool game would be sold by the promoter who is bring them over & the other by the promoter bringing in MU - Might be same promoter but separate products for sure -

These games are promoter run not FFA run to my knowledge - Bit like bidding for the Olympics - Bloody expensive to advertise your city/country - This will be channel 7 angel. splashing the cash the get the product everyone wants to see.

While SBS is awesome they don't have enough cash & are always if it's left we will take it.

I bet you don't see 1 single advert for the A-League season coming up in either game - But the word A-League will be used a hell of a lot & paper or internet articles will most probably mention A League now on SBS a lot which is free advertising for A league & SBS off the back of it.

Some times you have to sell to the rich to get there money - But they aren't really interested in what your selling just what it can do for them & how much they make off it.

I've flicked over to 7 twice so far during the pre-game show. Both times were that blonde headed tart interviewing colleagues from other 7 Network shows. Painful!

WELL...having been a Man U fan since the days of Best, Law and Charlton it was good to see the boys playing in Aussie (wish I coulda gone, but lack of funds is a lack of funds)....now, the lead up and the game....did football fans, or people in general REALLY need to see Adam Goodes having a whine to Rio...the incident was bloody weeks ago and had been sorted, and Ferds didn't have a clue what it was about ..CAUSE IT DIDN'T MAKE THE DAILY MAIL..f**k moi...why do they keep dredging the thing up.

and then there was the "commentary" team...Rebeccas dopey brother Jim, Jason FOOLina and bloody Bridgey....and that bloke calling the game with Bridgey who name I've blocked from memory....I knew Ch7 would try their best to root it and they almost succeded...stay the f**k away from the sport says I

The result was about what I expected...although Wee Mickey and Rosey had a dig , Beauchamp had a go as well, Pedj was Pedj, his feet were faster than his brain as usual...Wellbeck , RVP and Lingard were a joy to watch, and as for Giggsy, I could watch him all day anyway....we coulda done without the Colosimo flashback tackle...I winced when I saw that land.....anyway, think i'll go watch the treble again...;)

Commentary was fine - Thompson does loads of HAL games and Bridges was fine, and as for the panels - yeah, this isn't their normal gig so I get that they're ordinary at it. I was only interested in the game itself so I ignored the rest anyway.

The main thing is that it's rumoured they've paid $1 mill for both this and the Liverpool game - money that flows back into the game. They pay the dollars, they get the product. I've no issues with that.

The idea that they tried to root it is laughable.

Gallop did a very smart thing IMO ... he made 7 pay heaps for the match and I can only assume the before and after things where agree as well... Once having committed such a large amount and with the Liverpool match to follow in prime time 7 needed to do it as best they could to recover their investment [remember the broadcast cost are huge on top of what they paid FFA and lost revenue from other shows]...

What was encouraging for me is in Gallop we have a leader who knows how to not get screwed ... the broadcast was a long way from excellent but it was not hopeless either ... yep they did what 7 always does like the corals in Sydney full of 7 folk...

My guess is the ratings and the hype will ensure at least for now this becomes an annual event ...

Great outcome for football - tremendous exposure and really elevates the league.

I don't have Foxtel......and couldn't get a ticket (was on holiday when they first went on on sale and sold out before I could get my payment entered last month) so just having it on FTA Instead of internet streaming was a HUGE plus for me (especially as I am obviously a man United fan from way back). I thought the telecast was pretty good.....and am more than happy to overlook the cross-promotions just to see the game. I'm with Dibo....I think it was fantastic for Australian football and really gave teh A-league so much exposure it would never have had if it was a Foxtel only telecast. And even though it's Liverpool v MV on Wednesday, I WILL be watching. I hate the off-season and look forward to any chance to see a football game, especially now I'm officially retired :)
