Mariners v Queensland Minor Semi Finals

I reckon now is as good as any time to start this thread.

First leg at home Friday 6 February. I think we'll be them. Queensland have been the form team over the past two months and sooner or later they're going to hit a bad patch. We'll get our mojo (sorry, I know that's a terrible term) back in the final third and will score. Lawrie, please use Sash.

Gumps and Hutch are looking solid and maybe our new DM is Boogs with his great game tonight. A backline of Porter, Wilko, Bojic and Sonic.

Let's be positive boys and girls. I honestly believe we can do this and get to the GF minimum. Doesn't bother me at all getting Queensland first up. We will have to beat them all to win, so bring it on I say.

Sonic is banned for the 1st leg I think

Saso needs to start in place of Dylan

A draw at home will do me because I think they are more beatable at Suncorp.

Sorry, you're right greenpole, my bad mistake. Sonic is missing first leg, I forgot about that. He should consider himself it's not a longer ban.

Queensland have shaken off their inability to win at home this season...so I don't know that we can count on them being easier to beat at Suncorp as much as we used to.

You're right but it's almost a given. Matty said on 2ky about 45 minutes ago the first game is at home. Consider it confirmed.

does sonic = brad portor???

Heff

I think we can win the first leg at home, but the problem is that we concede goals to easily, and the away goal rule I assume applies? The leg away could be a tough one though. I actually wonder if QLD might fear their home ground record from previous seasons and park the bus to avoid conceding? Just a thought

Will be arriving into the Gold Coast from Tokyo on the morning of the 13th.  Train up to Brisbane, and I'm set.  Perfect timing tbf.  ;D

For those flying up - Jetstar out of Sydney has $49 to Brisbane on the Friday and $49 back to Sydney on the Saturday.  Out of Newcastle is from $39 each way both days.

ditto, will be arriving from cairns on the friday as i have a work conference up there

my flights back was cairns/brisbane, then brisbane/newcastle, so all i have to do now is delay the newcastle flight

if it was adelaide i would have had to miss the game so am very happy we play brissy

i am expecting a crowd of nearly 40000 for the game - i think it will be massive

I take a little bit of confidence in the fact we beat Queensland on aggregate over the course of this season. That of course was before Mile left but it is now a clean slate and anything is possible. C'mon you Yellow

did anyone get suspended last night on cards ?

nope

pedj played like he was on no cards (good on him for this) and that was why he was subbed at half time

porter started a bit tentative in his tackles but then must have forgot his situation and went back to his normal self

let's guess at a possible strating lineup:

danny
porter - wilko - stringers - pedj
gumps - boogs - caceras - hutch
matty - dylan

bench: redders, mrdja or sasho, clarky, osman/ahmed/owens (depending on availability)

stringers may be the man to do a job on van-shite and hopefully the outside backs can contain zullo and minnecon

0-0 at home wouldn't be a bad result imo.

A score draw up there would then be enough to go through.

We are more than capable of going up there and scoring.

Ahmed won't play IMO
He is meant to be out until ACL from my understanding regardless of him seemingly regaining fitness in time for a late finals campaign
