Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

So looking at the 19/20 season? Good to see them looking forward.... Don't know anything about this chap myself

Bastian Schweinsteiger (pronounced [ˈbasti̯an ˈʃvaɪ̯nʃtaɪ̯ɡɐ] ( listen); born 1 August 1984) is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire. A right-footed player, he usually plays as central midfielder. Earlier in his career, he primarily played as a wide midfielder.

He spent 17 seasons at Bayern Munich, playing in exactly 500 matches across all competitions and scoring 68 goals. His honours at the club include eight Bundesliga titles, seven DFB-Pokal titles, a UEFA Champions League title, a FIFA Club World Cup title and a UEFA Super Cup title.[4] He joined Manchester United in 2015, playing sparingly for 18 months before moving to Chicago Fire.

hence the reference to Mike Phelan making the connection for the Mariners....
Its not that long ago he was playing for Germany and I'm sure would be a major signing for the A-league...whichever team got him.

The Mariners and City are locked in an unusual tug of war, with both sides making plays at Bastien Schweinsteiger as he visits Melbourne for the Australian Open, according to a source close to the former Bayern Munich midfielder.

CCM CEO Shaun Mielekamp was recently in Melbourne meeting a representative with Mike Mulvey, while City have made contact through Warren Joyce who knew the player personally. Both clubs are believed to be seeking the Marquee Fund assistance.

He's however just resigned with Chicago Fire, who are only happy to see the German leave at the end of the 2019 season. It's believed that Mike Phelan made the introduction for the Mariners, using connections at Manchester United to contact his representatives.
Who reported this? Link?

Bastian would be a top signing. A real leader to galvanize the squad. Not hoping too much but stranger things have happened.

Sigh.

How about we get 3 x 30 year old unknown German players who are fit, reliable and we can build a team around for the same price.

Tommy H as 10 - well trial this anyway. I know he isn't a traditional 10 but I think he would cut it in the HAL
I've been posting THIS to happen since Da Silva went off to that Olyroo's camp and got injured didn't want to play thereafter.

What did the eleven look like? Who was playing where?

Sorry Mick,
I just pulled up and someone rang dragging me away. Got a 60sec glimpse while the call lasted.
They are starting at 9am by the looks which suits me better. I will have a gander tomorrow hopefully and report in.
Cissie had a bib on indicating he wasnt 1st 11.
The session was finishing in quite heavy rain but quite a few of the lads stayed in the middle for some shooting drills with Gauci as keeper.
I hear Gauci saved a penalty for Yoof on the weekend.

Can anyone remember the last time we saved a penalty in HAL?
