ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Hmmmm, a lack of clear information from the club about players' situations, that's unusual eh?

I heard that John Stead had been proposed as a replacement for Roy O. I can't see him being Paolo's sort of player tbh but it will be interesting to see who he ends up signing (here's hoping).

Jeez I hope not, career total of 118 goals in 496 games (23.8%) doesn't fill me with anything but a sense of dread. During his time at Notts County in League Two he's scored 25 goals in 78 matches over 2 seasons, I'm pretty sure the quality of the A-league is at least League 1 maybe even Championship level and John stead can only score 32% of the time in League 2? No thanks!

Out of curiosity, what were Roy's stats before joining us?

I think the HAL is below the Championship but above league 1 and 2. I DONT think Stead is what we need. I'm sure he is at least HAL standard but we need real quality.

The last Irishman was a snake:soapbox:
And I'm not sure Lawrie will be around in a year or two to gib him a pay rise :p

He was a quality player but I'd be very worried at his age, also would probably go to WSW as originally planned as they suck at recruiting strikers:D

I'd also be worried he'd put his back out doing his cartwheel celebration if he did score

quality we havent seen as Gosford since Mori.

East Gosford and Wyong Thai Massage will fix him up after the cartwheels!!.....lets score goals not worry about the celebration.

Stead has a much better record than Roy at Premier League, Championship and League 2 level - Roy had a better record at League 1 level. If the comparison was Stead at 29 vs Roy when he came here at 29 I would pick Stead every time. However, he is 5 years older than Roy was when he got here. The interesting point is that he played for a couple of seasons with Monty at Sheffield United.

Yeah i just googled him and he has had some good success. Probably a better pedigree than Roy and also 6.3ft so we would actually have some set piece presence.
I'd hate him to be another John Sutton. To have played England u21 is pretty impressive but his occasional goal droughts are a worry.

It could be a reflection on the team he was in at the time rather than on him.
Like the time he was at Bristol City

Dom Rinaldo (Fox Sports commentator and Adelaide journalist) saying before the Adelaide v Jiangsu game that Sergio Cirio is all but signed with the Mariners.
Will be interesting to see where he is played if it comes about. I get the feeling Okon will want his front 3 or 4 to rotate around
