Mariners Squad 2023/2024

Given our NPL side is pretty young I'm not sure we will see anyone new from there (apart from people we have already seen - happy if anyone can correct me). I'd be real happy to target a number of young players

Mauragis
Majekodunmi
Bennie
Goodwin
Waddingham

I assume the Barcellos loan will finish up and Torres looks like he is going. So I'd like to target another visa CB and a visa AM/CS.

Then throw in a couple of 23-30 y.o. Aussie players for experience - CM/AM and LW.
Bennie is a very hot prospect....highly doubt we have the skills to land him. Goodwin is a Scummer but the kid has alot of quality and i would love to have him in our squad. I already gave my opinion on Mauragis (its positive).

Journalist Mykhailo Spivakovsky commented on the news that Dynamo Kyiv is interested in Colombian midfielder Angel Torres of the Australian Central Coast Mariners.

- "Dynamo is not going to buy him. "Dynamo wanted to take him as a free agent. His career is such that he always moves for free. His contract with the Central Coast Mariners expires on 30 June 2024. So Dynamo will try to take this player for free," Mykhailo said on TaToTake.

Interesting. Suggests it's not just a 1+1.

Just a comment on people saying ‘we won’t get anything for Torres’ - we get 12 months out of a quality player on bugger all wage, with 2 afc goals and 13 league goals so far.
It's good and bad. We need to be making deals we think we can make money on if that's part of the strategy to keep us viable and part of the problem holding us back is our soft stance. City would have made two or three times what we supposedly made on Tulio because they can afford to stand firm.

I have to wonder if there's been background discussions with Torres and we saw the result manifest against the Nix where he looked himself again. Whether than means we've agreed to let him move on for free if he stops moping or something else I have no idea but the change in his demeanor was clear.

It could be that he knows he will get a deal somewhere. As long as we do a deal before the contract runs out we will get money. If Dynamo want him on a free and other clubs from Colombia, MLS, Saudi Arábia, Brazil, Norway, Sweden, Korea, Japan, England, Scotland, 󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Turkey, Emirates, Portugal & Spain are also chasing him then locking him in before the contract expires takes out Ukraine.

Has a deal already been done? I seem to remember we got decent money for Maty Ryan with maybe 2 days left of his contract.

I think as much as that may be a part of it, I reckon its taken all this time for him to be 100% fit again.
