ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Johan Cruyff: “Pele was the only footballer who surpassed the boundaries of logic.”
🗣️
Michel Platini: “There’s Pele the man, and then Pele the player. And to play like Pele is to play like God.”
🗣️
Franz Beckenbauer: “Pele is the greatest player of all time. He reigned supreme for 20 years. All the others – Diego Maradona, Johan Cruyff, Michel Platini – rank beneath him. There’s no one to compare with Pele.”
🗣️
Andy Warhol: “Pele was one of the few who contradicted my theory: instead of 15 minutes of fame, he will have 15 centuries.”
🗣️
Ferenc Puskas: “The greatest player in history was Di Stefano. I refuse to classify Pele as a player. He was above that."
🗣️
Ronaldo: “For Brazilians, speaking about Pele is speaking about an entity, speaking about something far superior to everyone.”
🗣️
Dunga: "Pele is a myth to me. A myth you can’t discuss. He managed to stop a war. Pele did things that are not human.”
🗣️
Tarcisio Burgnich: “I told myself before the 1970 World Cup final that, ‘he’s made of skin and bones just like everyone else’. But I was wrong.”

Well they're all wrong.

Maradona (greatest prick of all time) was also head and shoulders the best player of all time. Pele did not dominate just about every game he ever played.

Maradona did. Besides what he did for Argentina, look at what he did for Napoli. Could Pele have done that? Could anyone besides Maradona?

No.

Pele wasn't a cheating c**t. Maradona's entire career is void.

Another side to Pele.

“Pelé was a great player in any position, but he was especially good in goal. He was a natural shot-stopper and his reflexes were amazing.” - Carlos Alberto Torres (Brazil)

Another of his former club teammates, ex-Santos goalkeeper Lalá, goes even further when talking about Pelé's ability between the sticks, claiming that O Rei “would undoubtedly have been the Brazilian national team’s starting goalkeeper” if he had changed position. “He was incredible in goal, unbelievable. That’s no exaggeration, he did all the basics perfectly.”

And I always knew Noddy Alston did the Cruyff turn before Cruyff but apparently not the first.

Maradona showed he was good with his hands. 🤣

It's the middle aged version of the messi vs Ronaldo debate. We should celebrate if we were lucky enough to see them play live.

Pele played in the dominant national team of the generation. He had players that are household names like garrincha, Carlos Alberto, jairzinho, rivellino, zagallo and didi. They won in 1962 without Pele.

What Diego did in mid level Argentina and Napoli teams was next level. He carried both those sides.
