Song, unlikely to play visa hasnt been cleared yet :)

Visa still hasn't been cleared.

That also means the club still haven't got International clearance for him to play.

With only a day until the game, it looks unlikely he will get it.

Troy Hearfield will most likely start in his place.

TBH, I don't think they wold care to much.

It woldn't hurt to just try and walk into Bay 16.

I wouldn't think they would have someone at the entrance to every bay checking tickets.

No pass mark from North on Mariners' ability to match Newcastle's short game
January 27, 2008

NEWCASTLE Jets skipper Jade North has fired a remarkable broadside at Central Coast on the eve of tonight's A-League major semi-final at EnergyAustralia Stadium, claiming the minor premiers rely on the long ball and have the "worst" passing game in the competition.

Oozing confidence after yesterday's final ball-work session, North declared Newcastle play a better brand of football than any other team and would prove it by becoming the first side to qualify for the grand final.

"We're going to have to close them down, but they're going to have to close us down, aren't they?" North said. "We can attack from all over the park. Obviously they're going to play that route-one football. We're going to play good-quality football, and good-quality football is going to outclass route-one football over two legs.

"We've got the best style in the league, by far. Our passing is the best in the league, whereas I think Central Coast's is the worst in the league.

"That doesn't go to say they're a bad team or anything like that, they just play a totally different style of football to us. They're a great side, and they didn't win the minor premiership for nothing. They're going to be up to beat us and we're going to be up to beat them."

North's comments have set the stage for a potentially explosive showdown between the derby rivals in front of an anticipated crowd of 26,000. Last night there were less than 200 general admission tickets still available.

North's fighting words were not reserved for tonight's opponents. The Socceroos defender also took aim at Newcastle's critics, especially those in "the Sydney media".

"We've really proved a lot of people wrong," he said. "A lot of people tipped us to finish seventh or eighth, so it just goes to show they don't know what they're talking about.

"All along, the boys have had faith in each other so I just want to say thanks to all those critics who said we couldn't go all the way, because here we are."

If North appeared to be in an outspoken mood before the F3 blockbuster, then results tend to support his bold statements.

Newcastle beat the Mariners 2-1 at Central Coast Stadium two weeks ago, and their other clashes this season have produced 1-1 and scoreless draws.

Overall, the A-League's nearest neighbours have met 11 times, with four wins to Newcastle and two to Central Coast.

In Newcastle, they have met five times and the Jets have won three to the Mariners' one.

North said the Jets were primed to produce something special in front of what is shaping up as a club-record crowd.

"I just sense a good vibe," he said. "This is the first time I really feel confident going into a game, after three good wins."

Jets coach Gary van Egmond was yesterday reluctant to divulge his starting line-up but midfielder Adam Griffiths is certain to return from a two-match suspension.

"He adds some real steely resolve there and some leadership," van Egmond said.

"He's someone who's got himself into the Socceroos' A-League squad, he's a quality player and he'll definitely play tomorrow night."

Playmaker Stuart Musialik trained strongly yesterday and van Egmond was confident he had shrugged off a stomach ailment that had dogged him for several weeks.

"He looks a lot better," van Egmond said.

"He's a lot more bubbly and a lot more up for this game, and on the pitch he's seeing things and talking and those are all signs that he's getting back to full fitness."

Musialik has spent the past few weeks on the bench and van Egmond was coy about his chances of winning a recall to the starting side.

"I'm happy with the way we've gone [without him] but I'm tempted to bring him in," he said.

I'd rather win than give a damn about style, we're getting sell out crowds anyway, so whatever Jade.

Since when did North play for us?

Hopefully we don't comeback and find the buses up on concrete blocks with the wheels missing. ;)

As for the comments by Jaded, WGAF just look at the table prehaps if they weren't so good at the passing game they would already have a spot to Asia booked.  :piralaugh:

What measures should I use to protect my car?  Being that it's under twenty years in age, it would stick out in Newcastle and make it a tempting target for local thieves.

Should I just take a horse and buggy to blend in?

A Datsun Sunny should help you fit in with the Yokels, other than that take a Rottweiler to leave in the car as protection. (Window partly wound down, and with water to keep the RSPCA on side ;))

Put a couple of jets stickers on it, they should leave their own kind alone.

On the radio the other day, i heard a caller in say that he pulled over on the side of the link road into newcastle after breaking down, while he was waiting he decided to have a sleep as it was early in the morning. When he woke he found that all of his wheels had been pinched and replaced with concrete blocks. WTF
