Lukas Podolski moves back to Cologne from Bayern Munich after this season.
The transfer fee is about 10.1 million
Happy. Was podolski playing for Bayern a lot?

I just can't see why he has moved back to cologne.

He was barely playing at all, Klinsman had lost faith in him long ago

not only Klinsmann. Hitzfeld and Magath lost faith in him as well.
Now as Bayern Munich have signed Landon Donovan Podolski is only striker #4.

But I am not sure if it is the right decision going back to Cologne and not to an other club maybe abroad.
Cologne are taking on debts to get the "lost boy" home...

I am happy to find more articles if the following arn't enough.

http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/89732,podolski-makes-transfer-demand.aspx
GERMANY striker Lukas Podolski has put a host of Barclays Premier League clubs on
alert after demanding a transfer from Bayern Munich.

Former club Cologne have first option on him, should Bayern decide to accept a transfer request from a player who has scored 31 goals in 60 games for Germany.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/nov/24/bayern-munich-lukas-podolski-tottenham-hotspur-manchester-city
His former side Cologne, whom he left in 2006 having scored 46 goals in 81 appearances, have first option to re-sign the player, should Bayern accept the transfer request.

The acquisition of Olic will offset the loss of German forward Lukas Podolski, who has not settled since a 2006 move from Cologne. Cologne intend to use their first option on Podolski despite interest from assorted big-name European clubs.

Fark

Carlo was the longest serving member of the current Chelsea team bar John Terry and Frank Lampard

Will be missed.

Was easily the best second keeper in the league.

To push Gomes ?
Or take the starting keeper spot right away ?
Gomes is currently injured(Alnwick starting against Burnley).

Id say they will both be competing for the spot....carlo to get it..hopefully
