ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Gumps training with the scum

He lives at Umina. Soccerpro, his academy, is based on the Central Coast. He is a very nice bloke in person, but as soon as he pulls on the Newcastle shirt, all bets are off. And I dont at all expect everyone to agree, though not everyone knows the circumstances of his departure, so thats to be expected.

A really classy thread guys....someone who has given 3 years of solid service (injuries excepted) is told he's no longer wanted, and we react by branding him a C**t, simply because he chooses a club that lets him stay close to home. Newcastle are our local rivals - SO WHAT? GET OVER IT!

Of all the drivel on this thread, MarinaTed's point is about the only one worth the space it occupies. The guy has a family to look after. Goodwill from Mariners fans is all nice and well, but it won't pay his bills.

What else would you have the guy do?

Do you even know the full f**king circumstances of his leaving the mariners? Ill bet my left nut you have no clue.

And I dont give a shit which players leaves the club, Danny, Wilko, Mile, whoever, if they go to our biggest rival, they WILL cop shit, no matter how f**king nice they once were, END OF STORY. Its our rite as football fans to boo or cheer whoever we f**king want. You sign for Newcastle, you know whats coming to you.

great post bear.
i'm sure he knows what kind of taunts he will be getting.
i dont respect him at all once he signs that contract with the scum or pulls on the shirt. on the other hand i will respect tommy, because he didnt leave us to our bloody rivals, didnt complain, moved back home, and melbourne are a good quality side (without muscat, thompson and allsopp)

And I'm sure he fully understands that, and probably is looking forward to the atmosphere that this will generate. He doesn't strike me as anyone's idiot. I wish him well, but hope that when he lines up against us, he plays poorly, he gets no goals, and most certainly I hope he doesn't contribute to getting any points for the Scum.

I hope he helps the Scum to the wooden spoon, taking a hefty bite out of Con 'Casino' Constantine's wallet along the way.

Andre - rich and happy
Mariners - full points and happy
Scum - no points, no money, very unhappy

I like that formula

It may all fall over as hes being looked at as a replacement for Sean Ontong while he is injured and seeing as Gumps is a non citizen they may struggle to sign him.

Personally I have no issue with him signing for anyone, he was told he is not needed here and as a father and bread winner he needs to work. Be it the Jets or whoever I like the man for various reasons and will not boo hiom unless he scores the winner of course.

I agree completely. Its not like he left the mariners of of his own accord. We didnt want him remember! The guy has got a family to look after and a mortgage/rent to pay. In light of this people want to dump on the guy for signing with a rival club.

I rate the guy highly and was pissed off we got rid of him (he will always be the better option than owens in the 07 GF......i dont care what anyone says).

Let's see him being bagged by those who are/have been self employed with a family. It's great to see such passion and as bear said, once the whistle blows, it's war. But I certainly don't hold anything against him for doing his job in a VERY small market place.

I agree with what people are saying here we should just be nice to everyone in the A-League because after all, they are just trying to earn a living, and that includes Mark Shield.

Andre Gumprecht waiting by the phone

FOUR months after his Mad Monday impersonation of Hitler caused a national storm, colourful character Andre Gumprecht is still waiting for a phone call that will resurrect his A-League career.

Still bitter the way beaten grand finalists Central Coast Mariners showed him the exit door, Gumprecht declared yesterday that he is anything but "washed up".

"I am just too fit to give the game away. I still have plenty to offer and it's a matter of which club is smart enough to pick me up," the 33-year-old midfielder said.

"I have been in this business for 22 years and I am aware that D-Day will come one day and that I will have to do something else.

"But at this moment football is still in my blood and I am hanging in hoping that something will happen.

"The pre-season starts very soon and there's sure to be some injuries. That could be my chance. I also know that some clubs still have places to fill on their rosters and I have the experience."

Gumprecht has been playing in the NSW Premier League with Bankstown and training with the Newcastle Jets.

"If it (the call) does come I want to be ready," he said.

"I just think positive," said Gumprecht, who points out that he now holds an A coaching licence.

"I've had time to reflect on what I did and I should have been a bit smarter," he said.

I really dont think that Gumps copping it from us is going to phase him one bit anyway. We all know he is of strong character and wont care what any of us think about him anyway and he knows it is essentially one of the downsides of being a professional in the game, thats if you consider it a downside. As long as the taunts arent too offensive it would still be more or less a sign of respect anyway IMO. He still has it in him to be picked up by another A League Club, citizenship non-withstanding though im sure if worse comes to worse for him it would just be a matter of taking the test.

One left to go home, some left for money while others were not wanted. But in the end, who gives a shit, lol. Bring on the season, support the Mariners and boo the opposition... Its the way it is!

Absolutely.

We will be here long after every player (and probably the coaches too) have moved on. The loyalty is to the shirt, not the person inside it.

Yellow shirt - good. Other shirt - bad (apologies to G Orwell)

Hence the chant aimed at one of our players during his stint at a certain EPL club of "your not fit to wear the shirt"
