Stated (? breaking news) at the end of Sports Tonight. Said he will announce it tomorrow.

Well done most loyal servant of Australian Football. I'd have to say one of my favourite Mariners moments was when I heard he was signing with us.

He just HAS to go out with an A-League Championship ring.

Farewell Viddy, and thanks for your time both representing your country and as a Mariner.
How fitting would it be to send him out with a A-League championship after all he has done for both club and country :)

Viddy certainly raised the bar when it comes to signing Australian marquee players!

May you long enjoy your retirement mate, your 'comeback' certainly did you proud.

Reported in today's Terrorgraph that Tony Vidmar is about to announce his retirement with the Grand Final to be his last game. http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,23210480-5001023,00.html

Let's hope that this great player for club and country can finish his playing career in the best way possible.

Thanks Tony for playing your last couple of years with the mighty Mariners.

He cried tears of anguish in Montevideo ..

Let us hope he cries tears of joy as he holds the toilet seat!

To that lanky young bloke tearing up the flanks against England at the SFS in 1981 .... thanks for the memories

Correct, the years get away and I confuse decades in my senior moments. I have it on video.
Not his debut, but in his debut year

It has been an honour and a privilege for our great club to have Viddie play for us.

I'll be thinking a lot about Viddie during the GF just trying to savour every last moment of him in the yellow.

Truly one of the greatest Australian Footballers we have produced and one of the greatest Socceroos ever. Him missing the World Cup was a tragedy. No player ever deserved to go to the World Cup more than him after his terrific service to the national team and Australian Football.

Today's a sad day.

Just one more game for a true icon of our sport. We all knew it was coming sooner rather than later. If ever there was a player who deserved to go out with a championship medal it is him.

I'm sure it will spur the boys on even more.

Three cheers for Viddie. You're a legend mate.

I echo the above sentiments.  His form in the 2nd half of this season has been some of the best form he's seen with us, and it's good that he's able to bow out on a high note, with some more silverware under his belt and still performing well.
