Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Seriously though, @Offsider keep up the posts, opinions - negative, positive, fence, whatever. Maybe just try to tone down some of it because to me anyway that came across as an attack on the podcast boys. We're all fans here and trying to support the Mariners, and as everyone knows that has been very hard to do for a few years. Fans attacking other fans doesn't really help.

So there you have it ............ you just justified my opinion and reply. I agree you can’t go to a live station and say “ how shit we are etc ” ....... but you tried to.:redcard:
They asked you some very direct questions that I am sure many would like management answers to .......... you shouldn’t have tried to answer them :redcard: ........... you should have vetted the questions and asked them not to put them, they threw you under the bus. You were asked very direct questions that required factual answers. Not to answer with the facts was not good .......... nobody was any the wiser after your answers ???.:redcard:. The problem as I see it is: they must have thought you knew the answers but either you didn’t or wouldn’t.

:soapbox: Don’t worry ........ I can understand nobody ringing in to your program to give their opinion .............. if anybody was actually listening they would risk getting the same result I just did.

:piano:Yes .......... my opinions at times may appear negative, but if you take your blue and yellow blinkers off you might see that I don’t say negative things like “ how shit we are ........and I have got no hope “.......... and I certainly wouldn’t go on live radio and try and hide the fact that I think my team is shit.

I am a Mulvey fan and I have hope that charlesworth has turned the corner and will support the new ffa regime and be competitive otherwise we will be in the second division when it is brought in. I also have an interest in seeing the new npl signings and the youth players stepping up. Just because I don’t put a value on league table positions doesn’t make me negative nor does the injury list ensuring another spoon worry me like it will you when the reality hits you.

Oh wait !!! ........ one last thing .......... there is no way I would “ask” to be on “the show”. I appreciate your efforts of what you are trying to do with it ............... trying to turn the “pigs ear into a silk purse” ........ but it is not going to happen with the team this season.

That was fun .....

Look, l would honestly rather have a conversation with someone that doesn't use emojis and why are there so many full stops?

Why are you attacking me for agreeing to be on a show promoting our club? I'm not a player, l don't have media training, l am just a fan who likes to talk about the club no matter what's going on. I actually don't like listening to myself, l feel like any chance given to talk about this club is good since our run of form the last 4 years and most of the time we're ignored so yeah, attacking a fan for helping promote our club and upcoming game is pretty poor form. A bit offside shall we say...

Adz ..........Read the posts in context .......... I was not impressed by the podcast whatever and said so ............ later admitted to by howe as not being able to “ go on live radio and say we are shit and have no hope.” He thought he handled it well and had bullshitted his way through. I have probably forgotten more about football than howe knows and what I heard was bullshit. Whatever his good intentions were he later admitted he thinks the team is shit and admitted it. He has challenged me to voice my opinion on his podcast............ that does not meet with any of my interests, but if he offered a cup of coffee and half an hour to discuss some ideas on communicating and body language I would probably be interested in sharing my experiences.

Your advice you think is warranted I should think goes both ways............. exactly how I feel when somebody attacks me. Not everything I post is negative.......... if it is not being looked at with blue and yellow goggles it could be construed as constructive criticism. I fail to see how somebody can call our players “newcastle scum” or “c**ts” and call themselves fans when you call me out on this podcast rubbish.

It doesn’t worry me if my detracters are right ( I have eaten humble pie on a few occasions) OR GET BERATED IN JEST ..........no problems, but not if they are wrong, or call me a drunken blow in etc............. I reserve the right to return fire.

I am not a “fan” bleeding blue and yellow ......... I follow my home team the mariners ....... just like I have followed Man U through all their ups and downs for 55 years and ccm for 15 years.

It’s going to be a tough season .......... don’t take it out on me.

Ok ............ I understand you now Josh ........... let me answer your questions for the purposes of clarifying my criticism of your efforts.

#1 ....... emojis ......... I like them, they convey an emotion to a point being made. That’s why they are called “emojis” and that is how they are supposed to be used. I like to think they lighten my negativity. See what I did there Josh ......... I had a shot at you and then myself.

#2 . Why all the full stops ???. In my day we were failed in english if we could not speak the language fluently without saying arhhh, arhhh every third or fourth word . Arhhh you probably know arhhh people that arhhh speak like that. Today modern presenters and commentators are trying to sound more dramatic by placing emphasis and pausing prior to speaking a word in a sentence. My english teacher would have called it stuttering. My .......... is an attempt to immitate ........... and mock .......... that stuttering presentation. All in fun. My ........... experience in public speaking has led me to an interest in this behaviour ............... as well as body language. Try reading that last sentence without pausing at the dots, and then again pausing at the dots and emphasising the next word.

#3. Why am I attacking you. For the reasons you state yourself. I did not know you are so unqualified to do what you are trying to do. You are not a player ???, you don’t have media training ??? You don’t like listening to yourself............. and yet you set yourself up to field questions that only mulvey or charlesworth should be answering. For a person of my experience you did not come across well at all.

#4. I should have qualified this before but I can’t be bothered going back to see where it best fits. From your previous posts etc I thought you were club management or coaching staff .......... and as such I based my criticism accordingly. Had I known you are as inexperienced as you are I would not have bothered even taking the time to listen in the first place.

I commend you for your efforts. I would suggest you are finding that it is a difficult task to promote the reality of the team, when the club seems to be making a turn in the up direction however late.

You can stick your invitation to voice my opinions on your show?? ......... but if you want to discuss my constructive criticism towards it ........it will cost you a coffee.

Cheers ......... not using an emoji but you can pass the popcorn.

Why am l unqualified to have an opinion on the team? That's patronising and l feel like l earn my opinion when l have spent thousands on away trips and missing only 3-4 home games in 6 years.

It's a damn radio show interview that lasted 10 minutes, a fan states his thoughts and opinion, no one is forced to agree or disagree

How can l accurately promote the team when l am just a fan?

And no, l would rather not buy an individual like you a coffee, l would rather end my interaction with you here.

Good day

Not unqualified to have an opinion ............ that is not what I said. That is what you read.

Pls look up the meaning of “patronising”.
How as a fan .......... you can actively promote the team “better” in my opinion ............. will cost you a coffee.

I have an idea I was going to put to you .......... maybe a topic for your podcast ??? .......... adapted from other sport’s communication.......... that would allow the player doing the throw in to secretly and simply communicate to the person who he wants to receive the ball and where he will receive it. Virtually gauranteeing possession is retained. You are very prickly.

Here’s a tip free:
If you want to promote anything you need to read everything to learn .......... not read to form a reply.

You’re welcome.

Offy - I get that as one ages one approaches communication with a certain 'let's just cut to the chase mentality'.
It stands to reason and I respect that position, truly.
Cynicism increasingly and justifiably wins the day and it has been shown that pessimism typically is closer to reality than blind optimism. (Optimism is more fun, however, and supports a happier mind-state).

Communication is 2 way though. If you are just being negative, aggressive and insulting to people who are contributing a genuine effort (where's your podcast?) then people will begin to disengage with you and eventually you'll be speaking in a vacuum. Not to mention that it is harsh, unkind and unfair. People do their best and learning is lifelong.

Criticism and honesty don't need to be compromised. If fact I, and I can see many others here, do genuinely appreciate your candid views.
But perhaps gentler language that are less personally attacking would be more appropriate and less abrasive to people who don't deserve to be savagely cut down for no real reason in the name of that criticism.

Attack the argument, disagree with the method - but there is no need to become vitriolic. People don't need to process that and very few actually deserve it (Trump excluded)

Yes ....... I can see the wisdom in your comments, but can you see the wisdom in mine.
I have extensive experience in body language and communication ......... it has been a lifetime practice of mine and I do not subscribe to your first comment in any way.

I admit I do not know Josh Howe only of him and what he was doing. Had I known what he has admitted to now I would have left it alone .......... I have on occassion had to eat humble pie, and done so ........... but if somebody attacks me I will return fire.

You ask where is my podcast ??? ........... I have my opinions but not that I want to broadcast them to the world in the form of a podcast. That does not mean that I cannot have a critical view of somebody that does. As I said had I known the situation josh howe as it was not as it was portrayed, I would not passed comment.

Had a fella criticise the pod for being too negative. Were we? I felt like we were more than fair. What's the point of pretending it's all sunshine and rainbows?

I thought it was a tad negative, but I say that as somebody who thinks sports fans have a tendency to be melodramatic at best and unnecessarily pessimistic at worst. I'm the kind of person who enjoys watching sport, but regards sportsball fandom as a curious phenomenon. In 14 seasons following the Mariners, I have never seen a game that made me not want to get out of bed the following morning. The worst games for me are ones where the ref completely screws a team, or the team plays like they couldn't give a shit.

So on that note, my thoughts on the club currently are: we're better than this time 12 months ago under Okon, even if the results haven't shown it yet. My biggest frustration remains with the lack of goal scoring ability. As I type this WSW are down 3-0 to the Tards, and today SFC won off the back of a contentious penalty and a brilliant strike no team could've defended against. But even so, last time CCM won was a 1-0 result against the Nix early this year- and it was a tense finish that could easily have been a draw.

CCM lucked out with managers for the first 8 years- then made a few poor decisions, coupled with a lack of spending on the squad. I don't think we need to spend big to rack up more wins- it's just a case of the team becoming better drilled and improved finishing in front of goal. The penalty in todays' game wouldn't matter against a team who can easily score 3 goals in a match. I can't recall the last time CCM scored more than 2 of their own accord- anybody?

Well that was a train crash of comments that were new, I love the fact that the pod is from a fans view. Im glad that it's not just everything positive about the club and with which I can agree and disagree on topics, keep up the good work!!.

Ah, I see you missed the last game of the 2017/18 season. Half your luck.

Oh no I went. I wrote all about the experience in the match thread. My biggest concern the day after was my lost keys (thankfully, they were turned in at the stadium front office).

I reckon the Indian security guard would have run away as soon as Offy popped his falsies out ready for action.
