Anyone going to be brave, or perhaps stupid like me, and back Adelaide to win. As much as I would like to see Tommy P win one of these things, I think Adelaide can break their hoodoo.

Melbourne will win. There attack is so good and United just dont know how to beat them. Only QLD had worked out how to beat Melb and its just a shame they did not qualify for the GF.
I think they will win 3 or 4 nil with Tommp P winning the Marston Medal.
Thompson first goal scorer

I don't know why but Adelaide always look like they are terrified of Melbourne especially at the dome.I'd like to be wrong but imo they've got no chance.

If Melbourne score early I think the Reds will collapse.

Might even beat the last GF score between these two.

Will Adelaide lose to the one team 6 times in a season??  That could be somewhat embarassing......

I really don't know what to make. Melbourne are clear favourites- but Adelaide United have nothing to lose and if anything less pressure on them.

Disagree David, Adelaide have massive pressure on them (5 defeats in 1 season etc etc) and face being humiliated.

If MV score early, they could fold (again).

0-0 at HT and it will be game on

I think we can look at the possibility that Adelaide United got the worst out of themselves and put it behind them, so they may be a different proposition.

From The Age:

Ground staff, cleaners and workers at Telstra Dome will have to work overtime this weekend when the stadium hosts four major sporting events from two different codes in four days.

The round two NAB Cup blockbuster between Collingwood and Richmond will be played there on Thursday followed by the Essendon-Brisbane Lions clash on Friday. The ground-markings will then have to be changed in time for the A-League soccer grand final between Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory on Saturday night.

The markings will then be changed back in time for Sunday's match between Carlton and Hawthorn.

To add to the equation, the stadium will also be re-branded in the middle of it.

But stadium spokesman Bill Lane said staff would take it all in their stride.

"In 2006, round three, we had four events on the Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday for a fixture of AFL and that was our biggest ever four events which 165, 358 people attended," he said. "Also round one the same year we also had four games so while it's not a regular occurrence, we've certainly done it before."

He said the change of codes was nothing new for staff to contend with. "Early in the stadium's lifetime we actually had four fixtures and we had league, union and two AFL games and last year we had an Australian Rugby Union test, we had Australia versus Italy, and we had AFL (games) so it's not unusual for us to switch from one code to another," he said.

"It takes a big commitment from the team but they've done it before and they're committed to the cause. In some instances they work long hours to bring it all about but they're proud of what they do and they'll no doubt do it again."

He had no doubt that the ground could handle the extra workout. "The turf is in good shape. Following the A-League semi-final a fortnight ago we had great reports from both the players and the Football Federation of Australia and they all reported that the ground played well," he said.

"The soccer pitch looks good at the moment and we've got a few issues on the western side of the ground but it's off the soccer pitch and we're doing some work in that area and that's improving by the minute."

From Sunday, the venue will cease being called Telstra Dome and become Etihad Stadium after a five-year deal was signed with new sponsor Etihad Airlines.

"That is another component to take into consideration this weekend and we're in the throws of re-branding the stadium now which has been a challenge in itself because we've had to be sensitive to the requirements and needs of both organisations," he said.

"It will be a big weekend, it is a big weekend we can't shy away from that, but we are confident that the ground will play well for all four events."
