ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

We're Back - Finals Baby

Everyone has been conditioned to expect mediocrity for so many years that we rip into Fulham with what is a reasonable expectation every season, to make the finals.

In a salary capped league every season we don’t make the finals is a failure.

In saying this, I am still enjoying this ride a d celebrating it, because I don’t know when the next one will come.

Mick can you let the other teams know it’s supposed to be a salary capped league. Loving the journey too thus far and your contributions...cheers mate

@Iain Shand or @Shaun Mielekamp do you guys know whether finals ticketing will include GA or if it’s all 100% reserved? Just trying to make sure I know who I need to line up before tickets go on sale

Also if reserved will I be able to redeem the 50% off for multiple members - I.e 2 members + 2 guests together in 1 transaction if reserved seating.

Yeah it would be nice to get some details, it’s been a while since we had to worry about finals tickets.

Agree, salary cap innate only. Too many ways round it if you have money.
The A-League is hardly much more of a level playing field than the EPL. Salary cap is at a level that the poorer clubs can afford, and there are so many ways for the richer clubs to pay substantially more (not least of which is the lack of any real policing). I seem to remember the year Cahill played, $ity, Tards and Smurfs were all paying 3 or 4 times the base salary cap (and that was legally).

We have the smallest population base to call upon, smallest corporate base and an owner who can't afford to put in anything more than the bare minimum to keep the club afloat. It's not to say we shouldn't be aiming high, but any year that we make the finals is an overachievement.

In fact this year, we should be grateful there is no salary cap policing or we might be in trouble - I can't see how we are even paying the salary cap floor given the number of kids and players who wouldn't have got a run anywhere else in the squad. 10th would have been an excellent result - that we have finished 3rd is a greater over-achievement than any of the "little club that could" championship / premiership seasons and definitely something to celebrate.

The main factor I can think of making it more likely is the demo of SFS. You jump from 20k at CCS or 30k at Bankwest (is 10k more worth moving it for? Debatable. But then the next is Homebush for 90k plus afaik. None of the match ups have that kind of pull to even make it 50% full. A rocking CCS would be a far better advertisement for the league

I assume bankwest will have better corporate facilities than ccs and also easier to get to for corporate sponsors and I think that would be a big factor in their decision making. So long as they were confident they could get it at least 85% full then I would expect it to be bankwest.

Do you think the beancounters are that smart? I wouldn't put it past them to only look at stadium capacity, then not be able to figure out why 15k turn up to a stadium that's nearly 2 hours away from the home team or something stupid.

I still haven't forgiven the FFA for taking our home GF away from us.

Anyway, I honestly think we can take Macarthur. Then.....here's a terrifying prospect: MCY might not be out of the question.

If we make it to the GF, it's either a CC/Sydney based game, or a Melbourne one.

Really hoping lockdown lifts and there are no travel restrictions into NSW if it's Melbourne (even if we get to the semi).
