On the match, we won ugly ..... if I have a concern is thats when Nizzy left we lost control of the game and defended and repelled attach after attack.... 2 V spoon should not be hanging on for a win....

We need to hold the ball a little longer under pressure to give the backs time to organise and reset.

If Olly does not win player of the season I am a bad judge... IMO he is the missing link we have needed .... Olly has dragged us by the boot straps up.... his leadership and Coast background and pride in the shirt has filtered thu the team... Arguably the best player signing in our history... can't think of another player in any other team that has had the effect Olly has had...

It was noticeable last night, the players were looking to him for guidance and he was constantly directing every player.....

I would love to sit and have a drink with Olly, be it coffee, beer, wine, or a spirit and just talk about shape...

Everyone on this forum is hard core rusted on so I understand I am preaching to the converted, but I can spend hours [and Wombat STFU] discussing shape and were to go and were not to go... and Olly just has that holding, play making, deep sitting, controlling, mid that every great team has .... would love his thoughts on positional play and different shapes with and without the ball in different parts of the field....

Hint to Shaun ... maybe a chat with Olly raffle...

This is the problem about 70% of our attacking forays placed Nigro as the vital final link. And he’s just not up to it, do Mc s as many opportunities wasted. We need to either change our attacking strategy or change Nigro if we want more goals.
Totally agree, Nigro has stepped up and is usually good enough defensively but isn’t really and attacking outlet. If you look at someone like Brindell South for Brisbane he made the step up and looks much more rounded.

With one eye on the future we probably need to be scouting the next player to step up or looking for someone to poach. I’d like us to get Galloway since he’s usually behind Atkinson for game time at City but doubt we would be able to since he got time through injury.

For me it’s at least 1 wing, RB and a striker to replace Kuol. Can’t be relying on Matty to be a regular starter with another year in the legs regardless of how this season goes.

He has played great this year but I feel Ruon has not only been the player of the year for our team, but the player of the year for the entire A-league

I can't see another striker of the Urena quality being signed so maybe we go for TBT since he is about 10 years too young to get a start at SFC.

I'd like to see a both a RB and a LBl. As the RB I'd have a look at Gethin Jones before Bolton re-sign him. wouldn't take a visa spot either.

To be fair TB, Jamie has had a great season.... however he has played in a great side ... Olly joined a side on its last legs... the change this year is almost unmeasurable ....

Deep down in my Football soul, I believe the 6 is the most important player on the park ... the 6 helps the defense and most play starts from the 6....

At the Socceroo's we have never replaced Vinny Griller... and when Vinny was there he was by no means the best on park but a steady 6 holding the defense together and getting play restarted is essential.... take the Drive Bys's if they had a 6 in that line up ...

Olly is a 6 and also a box to box and they are as rare as hens teeth... yep Jamie wins but no without a great team behind him...

I'd even say that Ollie deserves to be called up for the Socceroos, he's gone so well. He won't, because we do have plenty of options in his spot, but he'd certainly do a job. Tongyik also would have to be a shout.

If either did get picked I don't know whether I'd be overjoyed for him or horrified for our finals campaign.

Nigro is much more comparable to Neville for Roar. Competent defender but do not expect attacking usefulness.

Defs would be keen for some TBT. A striker with lightening pace and a decent finisher. Has grown massively at smurfs even with limited time.

your logic is dead right . what you haven't factored in is. they'd give it to robbie kruse before any
mariners player got it . they'll give milicic coach of the year to

Correct me if I'm blind, but it seems that Stenz is the 6 and Ollie the 8, and I'm not just talking about the numbers on their shirts. Ollie has indeed been the leader we have needed, He is all over the show, directing, filling gaps and showing the way through his actions.
Stenz has been the rock that has given Ollie the freedom to get about without having to worry about the midfield. Regardless of the shape we end up in, Stenz has the anticipation, pace and strength to deal with most threats.
The two of them make a great complimentary pairing, a very good midfield. The core midfield strength of our spine.

Im not saying a word Middy!!

Olly has been the difference, without a doubt, but players like Ruon, Stens and Kye are playing at a level we have never seen from them before.

I'm a massive Olli fan and I was on his first stint too BUT I would suggest Dutchy was and is our best signing of all time....even above the mighty Andre Gumprecht.

I just watched the mini match on Foxtel. OMG that was a shocking penalty...really really bad. But its Newcastle and when some bogan Aussie came up with the term "Shit c**t" they were either living in Newcastle or had just visited because those maggots really are shitty dog c**ts.

So, its impossible to feel sorry for those inbread, mouthy, uncouth maggots......and I dont feel sorry for their fans either....(boom tish).

I dont want to see TCT back here tbh.
