Well, if his even 75 % fit, it can’t be any worse than it has been for the past couple of years

There’s honestly no reason not to be happy with this signing. Brilliant pedigree. You simply cannot scoff at his K League record. It wasn’t a fluke.
Look deeper than his Jets record, the few times he played as a 9 he scored and they were good goals. And he scored whilst playing as a winger too. His technical ability and movement is high quality. I’d like him to start straight away. And I expect his type of play to match beautifully with our mobile attacking mids. Mattys time is done you’d think. I’d expect him to know that too.
I would expect that Staj would already have had a whisper in Matty's ear. With the effort Matty has put in for the club over the years, it would be the right thing to do.

We look toothless compared to other sides and Staj obviously has no confidence in Majok (though Muzz i think it was said he's had some niggles - so could be that). Matty is clearly at the end of his era, and Muzz has not taken his opportunity yet...

So personally I'm very happy to be signing any reasonable attacking depth at all. But Jair could well prove a much stronger addition. He was not poor last year just average as an LM (and probably not worth the coin in that position). Because he's an out and out central striker, but you can't play Roy wide and Jair has more versatility and did an reasonable job. And unless they were punting Roy if I was him I'd want to leave to.

Jair's highlight reel shows intelligent heading, skillful volleys, beating men, combination play, and a quality pen taker. It shows considerably more than Matty, Muzz or Majok have achieved. Certainly don't see how it can make us worse. And if Jair came good for us, be such a great point to score on the scum.

So... we're not much in the habit of celebrating our signings anymore. But I'm happy about Jair and Roberts too.

John Roberts?

Watching the Jair highlights reel is a bit scary. Hopefully he can play like that for us.
Although I'm not a fan of those penalties. It would look horrendous if he f**ked one up.
One for the Fox highlights all year.

I’d like to spark a discussion on possible January departures and possible injections to boost the squad as a result, whatever position we may be in at that time.
Imo, Shabow and melling are completely out of favour and I reckon they’re done with us. I don’t think anyone can argue that. It could be hard to convince them to mutually depart especially considering they probably have zero other aleague prospects so will end up in Thailand, Malaysia or NPL. Wee Mac seems to be an okay bench option in Staj’s mind so unfortunately I don’t think there’s any chance he’ll leave January.
But I firmly believe some smart business could be done in January if we can be rid of Melling and Shabow.

Still very possible Simon and Weemac might go off the books as well.
So either way could guarantee that at least 1 to maybe 3 spots may be available to add some spark.

However,
Now we have added Jair what’s the chances we would snag anyone of starting 11 quality for cheap as we know Mr Charles ain’t going to splash until we get some cash return.

I reckon we might look very very similar with Roberts, Diaz, Miller and Hatch making appearances late in the season looking towards the future of we are still proving inconsistent.

I don’t see the incentive for the players. We aren’t short on cap or squad space afaik so any exercise is purely a cost saving or visa saving in weemacs situation.
Shabow or Melling might want to look around though if out of favour. There was a rumour Adelaide were looking at Melling a while back. With Macarthur requiring a bunch more locals in the league they may well land somewhere as squad players.

Shabow is going alright at training. I don’t think he will be going anywhere.

In fact I doubt there will be ANY movement in Jan.

The other thing to consider is what will happen to the NYL next year. If it is replaced by a full season reserve grade then that will be filled with squaddies and youth.

A reserve grade would be perfect for Mario and any other sqaddie we have to have meaningful game time to hopefully step up given they perform.

I doubt there will be much moving in Jan as well. As long as we lock in a few before we get raided of our best by other clubs taking our players.

Those squadie Aussies would just be replaced by more youth. So no real increase in squad ability

And we will need a bulldozer to rid Weemac of his contract which is hilarious considering his last one.

Weemac being a foreigner is the one we really want to move the most but I don’t see it happening.

What about Kim. Could maybe move him on. Surely he is disappointed with his role. So far

Don’t think we’ve seen enough to consider moving Kim on. Probably not doing ourselves any favours in retaining him though if that’s what we want although I suspect it was always going to be a one and done season while suspended at home.

Im sure we could get rid of weemac but it would mean paying him out. Cap isn’t a concern so we could do that with no issues if we have the funds to replace him which we probably don’t. Doubt we need it to be a mutual termination from a cap perspective unlike Victory dealing with their midfielders.
