Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Aspro is a career CB, whereas Liam isn’t with all due respect to him, so it’s inappropriate to compare them as apples for apples tbf.

I have no issue with the club signing Aspro on his potential but any player who suffers a serious injury has to be something of a gamble in all honesty. That can be from both a recovery or recurrence point of view. Let’s hope that he doesn’t suffer from either.
Agree with the gamble but i guess we wouldn't have got players like Aspro or Gameiro if fully fit. If they both have top seasons we are winning.

That's 2 on the roster that will require very astute management to get through the season.

While Liam has shown promise, I can't get over the fact that he has trained under Hutch, Monty, Garcia, Tommy and Wout, and hasn't been able to lock in a spot. With that kind of mentoring he should be a lot further down his career path by now regardless of age.

And given our form for the last 3-4 years, I'm happy to clean out the squad if only to refresh the attitude and culture.

When Liam played CB, he was competent and did well. From what i've seen of Aspro, l don't really rate him. But time will tell.

He looked like he was filling in. He never looked like a starting CB. Looks like he would make a decent sweeper but no one plays a sweeper anymore. Also he was no good in the air and slow to close down on the edge of the box.

Somebody maybe should have grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and turned him into an RB.

Didnt really have the engine for it and is a bit one paced.
Has a good first touch and nice balance but simply doesn't have the fight to play in the middle of the park and didn't have the nouce to play at the back.
Decent player but the Mariners were definately right to cut him imho. Given masses of opportunity.

Take a bex and a have good lie down........... it will all be clear tomorrow.

I’m not a fan but ............. Wombat will decide who he is better than :tv: Soon and move my opinion to the end of the bench ...

Good player Offy. Bit skinny but young and comfortable on the ball. He replaces Posco (who i liked) and once again is an improvement.

I still like those two Glorys brutes Alex Grant and Shane Lowry. Real old fashioned tough CB's.

Lowry and Simon on the same team......we wouldn't get bullied anymore.:)

On one year contracts, we also run the risk of them going off to join whoever if they have stellar seasons. :(

Rosey (Josh) was at the CCMA games at Pluim on Saturday in CCM training kit - is he involved in the academy coaching side of things does anyone know?

He should be ready close to the start of the season. That's my guess anyway having had the same op myself with not very good rehab. I'm sure he will be there doing light training at the start of pre-season.
Agree. An ACL is rarely a 9m injury for professional athletes nowadays. Not even 12m as was quoted in the article.

Same same Timmah. Both Announced in Feb and Say ACL.

They only say end of season because that’s when his contract ran out.

No way he will be up and running before Christmas IMO

Quick google says 6 to 9 but 6 months is way to rushed imo

Risky business but definitely a talent
9 months from 3 Feb is 3 November which is Round 3 or 4? That's assuming he takes that full amount of time to recover.

As I said he'll be fine around season kickoff.

So many variables when it comes to a knee injury (severity of injury, type of surgery, recovery, re-injury in recovery, physio, diet, your own body's healing ability etc.) that to put a blanket date on his return is just silly.

You would think that recruiting people would have done due diligence on both gameiro and aspro ......... before committing to sign them. I suppose benifit of the doubt should go to them.
If aspro ........ is to bring “pain relief” to the defenders (nb........ not the midfield where there is already a more permanent Pain ) I hope he gets in a good preseason with the team.
